#1 Re: Main Forum » Can we revitalize this place? » 2021-03-21 23:16:48

I do think that jason's lack of development direction and lack of consistent updates killed it (i know that burnout/personal issues come up), its a shame because ohol ha(s/d) so much potential. Maybe one day a big youtuber or streamer will revitalize it.

#3 Re: Main Forum » Did anyone do the math on sprinklers and plows? » 2020-07-04 11:48:18

I used plows and sprinklers in my last life and its weird how the plow always plows to the left and you cant move pipes that have turned to sprinklers hmm now all we need now is a collection system for the plants

#4 Re: Main Forum » Books » 2020-02-05 19:54:03

Also, Jason should add it so that when the server restarts it begins a timer that counts the years, it would help with displaying grave deaths and book dates. Imagine finding eve from year 128 when the present year was like 12,202

Hey I made a good thread about this a while ago! https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=8171

and personally I think that the max typing limit should double after 8 or 10. Im tired of,

"Were carrot"
"Where is tur
"key"
Other person: "What?"
"Turkey"
Other person: "What about"
"Where"
Other person: "south" "kitchen"

If Jason adds books it will make up the last 4 months of mostly nothing.

Hello, long time player and forum lurker, just popping in to give my two pence. I only played a few rift games and took a break until it was removed, but I don't think this new followers update will be removed so I'm waiting for the novelty of it to wear off so I don't see ranked people roleplaying and shanking eachother and myself for not taking part in the hierarchy. I already saw this kind of thing happen in the newest Twisted video.

Literally no one except streamers care about the hierarchy shit until jason makes bbs auto follow mama, which given Jason's weird obsession with rank names might not happen. So no worries! You're unlikely to see anyone use it ever

just like fences except this update could actually organize everyone. I played a game yesterday where I was a lord but I didn´t know who follows me or who I followed so the badge/name thing was really confusing because there was also multiple familes. I think there should be some sort of UI that you can click and it pops up a new window or something and shows the entire tree in real time. Saying this is roleplay is like saying relgion irl is roleplay. What jason should do, is double the amount of letters you can type after 8 so that it doesnt just increase linearly. doubling the amount of letters would a huge help since theres an increase in word commands.

#8 Re: Main Forum » Idea for a leadership ability: Orders » 2019-12-16 01:08:30

I know im late in the thread and im probably off topic from the main idea because ive only read jason's first post; What if the ding messages take time to travel between members? So it takes like a second to reach the people under king, 2 seconds to reach people under them and so on and so forth. Then when it reaches the end it takes like 15 seconds so that people can be somewhat organized with it but not enough to abuse it much.

All I want is books, flour sack, water or Oil barrel, and watering can

#10 Re: Main Forum » Books are the key to culture and society. » 2019-12-04 17:48:31

Lmao I forgot about this post, thanks for reviving it. Closest books we have is a line of written papers in a small slot chest or 3 in a basket. Also books could make generational culture kinda feasible

#11 Re: Main Forum » We're getting wine but could have more » 2019-11-26 15:42:34

An idea for a yum table would be you can only put yum foods on it so you can store them for later.

#12 Re: Main Forum » Any objections to auto-orienting walls? » 2019-11-22 19:56:20

Will this make it so that you can't build praise be/yum shrines? (three diamond pillars in a triangle shape) I love building them

For example, there could be an ASCII interface (rogue-style), or even a "blind" text-only interface that narrates what's going on and allows you to move and act by typing commands.  Like WALK NORTH 3.

Pls add a chance to become blind and have interact and move via text adventure

Imagine if we had books bound in leather and paper, that told stories of past, spoke of myths and mentioned treasures. People would have debates, have a lifetime of logs from people's lives. You could find a traveler's journal that was scratchily written before their own demise. Someone could write who they were and how the village was, then another a couple generations forward could do the same. Written Laws! Which were the key to society way back then, a paved platform for which everyone to behave. Nowadays in game the closest is a couple baskets taking up 4 tiles with the last person reading them being authors' grandchildren then being swiftly ignored. Potential store clerks and salesmen could quickly check prices in their personal book and tell it outloud to a seller. Missionaries could spread their beliefs by etching their opinions on an open canvas and quickly reading it. With bookcases towns could hold endless knowledge.

Now this opens up the option of quick copy, ready to use text, like preparing a conversation before hand. As for the number of pages. . ? As many as you make, as long as the limit is 20 or around there. As for making a book, a stack of papers could be prepared and pressured down using a flat rock (for a bigger book, a few of these stacks), using thread to sew spine of the stacks together, and use candle wax(or some glue alternative) to coat it, then put a hide or animal skin on it. And pressure it again.
As for writing? I don't know, maybe an actual pencil. Really the easiest way of switch pages would be scroll wheel or arrow keys.

On the topic of Towns, there's no nationalism, no self admiration. You barely see town names, or any history of it. Culture is spread to only the immediate generation then forgotten. Sure there's notes, but who is going to follow an ancestor's requests or even to pick it up in the first place.

Though with the seemingly shorter town lifespans, such an addition might be pointless for now.

PS. For god's sake please let us write numbers on paper.

There's a big issue with talking to people in this game, players in groups talk over each other (literally the text boxes) so players can easily ignore or just miss important details. The red text box of a victim of murder really helps distinct the player and what they are saying a bit better.
In real life you could say, "Hey can you help me with this." And they can say sure or whatever and help you with it. But in Ohol It's more like you chase the guy while shouting hey hey hey while hoping he notices you chasing him for 5 min and bothers to stop. Even then expressing things like can you help me with x or something and they have to follow you and its 10x more complicated.

Voice chat pls?

Jason should make baby carts or something but make it super endgame, like it has a quantum generator in it.

I would love flour sacks, composters (like in crates), drying rack where you can put up meat that was salted, berry sacks, horse and plow (maybe its a thing where you place down 1 dirt and ride over it with a horse, turning it to tilled soil(i find it odd that we have to use soil deposits when the ground is ground and already has dirt)), Milk cans(optionally glass milk bottles), Glass cups, jars, bottles, pumps and hoses and sprinklers and generators, and E L E C T R I C I T Y

After jason does everything with bugs and stuff, adding objects or actions that take more than 1 person would really improve the whole teamwork idea. Like if a car was out of kerosine, you could have another person follow you and you both pick it up and bring it back. There's a little bit of this with digging fence posts and removing adobe walls but its still possible alone. Everyone seems, upon birth, to decide on something to do and do that task mostly alone until they die. Like building a house, which could take multiple lives, could take 30 min with someone helping.

Maybe a monolith that takes 4 people with ropes idk
