It's me, Me Iron! tongue

My life wasn't the most eventful one, but I had a lot of fun talking to the people in the Iron family town. All of the people there were great fun to talk to, and all of my children did very well <3 Hannah and Aabid and I spent quite a bit of time talking in the nursery tending to the kids and the fire, and they made that life absolutely worth living.

I did manage to get a screenshot of us standing together, but I can't find a way to post images to the forum, so I'll leave it off for now. I also did a fun edit of it, but that's sadly also an image.

Thank you guys for making this game so much fun!

I'm bumping this. Do the same for the Fan Art forum too, please!

#3 Re: Main Forum » *Suggestion* Horses don't run away if within X tiles of a player » 2020-01-18 20:35:31

Horses eat grass and poop a lot. They should stand still and make poop, and only run if some kind of threat like a wolf or bear appears.
Grass paths chewed and run upon by horsies?

#4 Re: Main Forum » Signs and directions » 2020-01-18 20:30:05

You can do the bad word spam anyway with paper and pencil. Just keep the base the same and have one skewer make a pile of straight stock and a pile of curvy stock, both infinite.
We could also have papers nailed to a sign next to letters, each paper taking up 1 letter space. I think that would keep grief down to an extent.

#5 Re: Main Forum » Can we have something for religious purpouse only? » 2020-01-01 04:04:15

I want more RP items. Maybe not religious ones though, they have too much trigger potential.
I want more cute things like bonsai. Let's have a garden table, with lots of different plants from all the biomes. It can be the Temple Of Peace garden table for all I care. Let's have more stew items and resurrect the Stew Cult. They wanted more stuff like this.

+1

Either all graves who died as a non-baby or buried graves only would work. Not sure about lag, but I like this idea.
Good job, Karltown. Have a cookie.

#8 Re: Main Forum » Glasses and sight problems » 2019-12-26 04:41:05

Can we have people randomly be awesome at something sometimes? Then we'd have babies with ultra speaking or the Temperature Immune Boy or the one really fat guy who eats once every ten minutes.

#9 Re: Main Forum » What needs do you satisfy by playing this game? » 2019-12-26 04:37:09

I watched really old streams and wanted to build a giant adobe town. I also wanted to know what adobe was. Then I spawned in as an eve and was thrown off by the feels.

I miss old OHOL, back when carrots and KFC and stealing people's girlfriends was the meta. It was great. And there was an Aurora to keep us entertained and a black lady would give birth to a redhead and horses were as good as it got and there was the stew cult who wanted more content and the spider people who wanted more memes.
But the first item you make is a handbasket... That should have been a warning.

tl;dr at bottom smile

So the last couple updates have been controversial. But their problem is bad execution rather than bad intent. It's been mostly punishments for not doing something (genes score hates you for having bad moms, blonds are useless, you can't do anything cool because tool slots). So how can we change the previous updates to appease the people?

How about we change tool slots like this:
- Tool slot number shouldn't change.
- Tool slots should be used on a tool rather than auto-learn
- You can use all tools as-is, but you can learn tools and be even better at them. A baker makes turkey faster and better pies, or an axe/shovel gets broken less fast, etc etc etc.

Races can change like this:
- Blond people are people too, give them a buff or a way to have slaves so that they can order others around to do things for them.
- Everyone can get all the essentials. Rubber materials, oil, horses, weird infinite shrimp.
- Everyone can use things in all the biomes.
- Races get bonuses for their biome, but only fun little things. Gingers can have snow castles and fishing, tans can have tattoos and mango trees, blacks can have paints and heat immunity, and blonds can have increased talking power and dyes (rabbitlands people!). Or whatever works.

This encourages trade. People trade for things like dyes and paints (Oooh, I can look like royalty and pass it to my children!), but less so for important things like oil (why trade when you can raid or get it yourself and keep your stuff?). You can trade people too, to make more stuff in your villages and to have someone harvest turquoise for you.

TL;DR: give rewards for doing/being something, rather than punishments for not doing/being something. People like rewards more than they dislike punishments. And too many punishments makes the playerbase run away.

edit: rewording. And Merry Christmas big_smile

I do like the idea of letting sub-followers split up the task.  WE NEED MILKWEED becomes YOU FIND SEEDS, YOU FIND SOIL, and YOU FETCH WATER.  But how would the Dukes know which sub-group was supposed to do what?

Let leaders organize people with markings. For example, someone with a badge and a red dot on their chest/badge, and make organizing work kind of like exiling. So said Duke would tell Sally "Sally is in Red Group" and Sally would get a red dot. That allows for a whole bunch of things like awards of honor and town organizing.
(Really, I just want to write "dunce" on someone's forehead.)

Also, I like the idea of the noticeboard. People read a lot more than you think when they get bored, and that would allow bored people to find jobs. And as for "oh no making more content," I think everyone wants content.

Can we please fix double posts? How is it that we can't post for 60 seconds between posts and it's then posted twice?

this post was a former double post

So I was this lady:
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5636467
I wasn't born as Aria. My new mom didn't know how to name me.

Me and my sister Eliara were pretty good at OHOL and we helped her out, but my mom died soon after having Lara and my brother. My brother died and Lara lived, and we started working on farming and stuff.

We had just hit iron when Lara started spewing children. She was a baby machine, while I had only one child who I actually bothered to keep myself. I named him Linus.
We made iron and there were lots of kids and I yelled at everyone to get wood. Linus got mad at me for stuff, but we made up after yelling at a baby and then we went back to being useful.

I got old and Lara was still pumping kids. I figured that she was using Linus and yelled at her, "Stop screwing Linus!!" This went on for a few years with Linus telling me that it was because he was a teenager. Eventually, I had Linus and Lara name me a Lady (that new mechanic is fun btw, can we have more markings for people?) and I marked Lara with an X for making too many babies.

We decided to name the town Alababylon because of Lara's incessant baby making and the fact that my mom was Eve. I don't know how things are going for them right now, but I hope it's good.
Linus, please, stop it with your aunt.

Kubassa, were you around when Morti went quiet? Morti said he was very sick, a while ago, and then he just stopped posting. People were worried. If you were stuck in bed all day, what else is there to do?

Morti, your hard work doing this day after day is awesome. Thank you.

We have a failure state, but we have no "win" condition.   No viable way to continue after the Eve window closes, except to fight against slow but inevitable die-off.   Griefers can work toward ending the arc as fast as possible by killing off families more efficiently, but there is no counter-play for people who want to keep playing on the same map.   No way to generate new families and slow the death spiral or remove destructive players from the active gamespace.

So let's pester Jason to add something. It dosen't need to make sense. It just needs to be something other than "death is inevitable."

Ideas, people?

I find it worrying that the top post 3 weeks ago is still on the front page. Things seem to be slowing down in game too, fewer people in a town, and there's a lot more trolling.
What do you think started this drop in players? I think adding the rift back did it, but it seems a more recent change caused the drop.

Also, on a more positive note, Raidan Allcock is now in the top 5 on the leaderboards.

That's too bad, though hmm

What's wrong with snowballs? One time in a town, a group of bakers retired after making lots of food and went to throw snowballs at people. Everybody got mad at them and shot them all. They weren't being wasteful or lazy like the other half of the town said, they had worked their butts off for the last 20 minutes feeding the town. Snowballs aren't even bad for you, unless you're the one holding one.
Maybe the rest of the town wanted their free food to keep going, but it's a game, people. Let us have fun.

#21 Re: Main Forum » So apocolypses right? » 2019-08-28 16:26:52

I was that combover dude with the reed skirt. I had to go, but I think I died at the base, so it was all ok.
What happened to the others? Only about half of the people got to the well site, and I wasn't there to watch you guys rebuild.

I was the last one to speak before the world reset tongue Who else saw it, or was our family of 6ish the only ones?

big_smile A fix for pork! Thanks, Jason!

(But Dodge has a point: if oil is required to make limestone, then the fix is moot because nobody likes learning how to use oil.)
