If zoom mods and others are removed you wont need to ban me, i will leave voluntarily.

That being said features in some of the mods should be highly considered to be added to vanilla. Specifically zoom, age meter, and accurate distances.

Keep up the good work jason. Stoked on a lot of these fixes.

I would say mean pit bulls have more use than the rest of the dogs. Not a good use but it at lease serves some function.

Stone hoe is pretty bad, but the rest of the dogs are probably the most useless things in the game.

Compost tutorial would be cool. Maybe planting all the plants as well.

Infinite vs decay. Infinite always wins imo. Fight me. Waste of time waste of resources.

#7 Re: Main Forum » long road fails due to incompetence » 2019-12-29 20:11:15

Yea i used to love building roads but anything over 1k is exhausting without help. Roads usually take me longer because i dont like making broken and ugly roads. Its fun making 0.5k roads connecting towns but anything longer gets boring for me. Since all these updates ive evacuated to low pop so i havent helped bs2 in a very long time. Its quite a drag playing there especially when you cant build through many of the biomes.

I hope we see some refinement with the current systems soon.

Big issue with rabbit clothing and why i dont make it is because it decays. Backpacks do not decays and are the most efficient storage item in the game. Rabbit clothing lasts 5 hours before it becomes rags, another 30 min and they are gone. Not bad in the scheme of things but relatively a waste of materials. Straw hats dont decay, reed skirts do not decay. Im not sure if this is true but the base seal skin coat doesnt decay, if what i read on onetech is correct. 5 hours if its knit. Also the warmest item in the game.

If you're going to put in the trouble of making clothes pre loom i recommend making straw hats, reed skirts, seal skins, and clogs.

Try playing on a low population server. Its a lot like that. Most people are working on their towns solo but im sure they would welcome the help and could teach you a lot of stuff. You can also work on your own town and work your way through the tech tree. Its really nice and zen compared to the main server. No biome restrictions and no tool slot limits when the population is less than 15.

#10 Re: Main Forum » Guide for new players: Tips and advice » 2019-12-29 02:38:15

So my tips would be:

- Learn how to yum chain. If you eat different foods you get bonus food. Berry > berry in bowl > onion > tomato > corn > popcorn > etc. If you eat the same food within your chain you lose the bonus and have to start over.

- Learn through observation and ask questions. Nothing is more destructive than a new player running around like a bull in a china shop.

- Associate work stations. Bakeries, smiths, and farms usually have tools lying around them that are necessary for each job. Dont take or move these items.

- Install one of the zoom mods. Playing vanilla is one of the most limiting experiences and zoom helps beyond belief.

- When you are over 40 minutes old you can no longer breast feed. Be sure to look out for the age change. Babies will often say O L D so look out for that as well. You can feed them with berries or other small foods.

- Try to produce more food than you eat, gather more resources than you use. Maintaining a surplus makes a huge impact on total growth and stability.

- Learn each job one at a time. Try to learn the full scope of what goes into them. What resources are used and where do they come from. I recommend starting with farming, then baking, then smithing. Smithing will take a while to learn the full scope but the basics are easy to pick up.

Trust jcwilk.

He's an ace griefer as griefers go.

True vets could burn this game to the ground if they wanted to though just saying.

Its sad but the truth. Why do they hold back? Pretty sure i know why but you'd have to ask them.

I want to make a forum as a resource for new players.

I dont have time to post stuff atm but ill hop on and post more later. Feel free to post your tips and advice below.

"one could just buy a second account for their laptop and be their own mother. $20 or less to completely beat the system"

You can run it on the same computer. I think most cereal griefers do this and just cycle accounts.

#14 Re: Main Forum » What do you miss/not miss about the rift? » 2019-12-27 18:21:08

Feel free to talk about that. Just trying to get a spectrum list going. Obviously people will have differing opinions on whats good and whats bad. My goal with this thread was to try to get a good list of what worked and what didnt work from the communities perspective and discuss how and why they have those opinions.

#15 Re: Main Forum » What do you miss/not miss about the rift? » 2019-12-27 17:39:12

What do you guys not miss/ like about things post rift?

Trying to get a good comparison going

Yea its worthless. I hope it doesnt get touched and is left in the cold like the war peace nonsense.

So since the rift was removed ive found myself occasionally missing elements that seemed to flourish in the rift. At the same time im grateful elements i hated about the rift are gone. So i thought we could list and discuss our thoughts on those things in this thread.

What i miss:

- Power house families. Families towards the end of the arc that dominated the server and fought tides of griefers at every turn.

- Epic fortresses. Towns completely walled in to keep out intruders.

- Finding and running into other families and towns often.

- The drama of everyone eve spawning at the same time.

- Peace for the sake of peace. Multifamily towns were rare without incentive and they were a beautiful thing to run into back in the day.

- A few other things i cant think of atm.

What i dont miss:

- Arcs ending/player driven apocalypse.

- Being confined to such a small space.

- Late arc stagnation.

- Resource desperation and hording.

- Families killing each other so their spawns would be buffed/inner family griefing to buff other fams.

- People playing exclusively for their lineage and raiding/stealing from other fams. Sometimes from within other fams.

- It taking nearly no skill to navigate and find your way.

- A ton of other stuff i cant think of atm.

Let me know your lists and thoughts.

#18 Re: Main Forum » Here's a few ideas that might actually help our game » 2019-12-26 22:45:23

Simple fix:

- Remove tool slots. Genetic score effects pip bonus and eve spawns only.

- Remove biome restrictions and go back to only one rubber per bucket.

This would make rubber farming a main priority for every family. Keeping it difficult and restraining water production while still enabling the growth of single family towns.

-2/10 too much japanese for a chinese soap opera.

#TeamNi

#Sakuralcoholic

That being said its probably good enough to be picked up by netflix. You should send them the screenplay.

I guess an interesting "solution" to the restrictions put up by family specialty would be the reduction of so by the addition of the highly asked marriage and dads feature, as to create mixed babies that have both specializations. We gotta remember that there are still two unused skin tones.

This still forces commingling. Main issue with the game right now is that there is no diversity. Tool slots reduce the diversity of an individual life, race restrictions reduce the diversity of family lines. Until players truly have their freedom back the experience will continue to be boxed in.

In an attempt to promote trade and more diversity between lives its done the opposite. Players now have no choice in how they play and are forced into playstyles that are even more frustrating and repetitive than ever before.

did you all curse her?
Cause if you didn't, you are destined to be annoyed by him again.

Don't feed the Trolls, just curse them.

Griefers like to play hide and seek, run around and be annoying, don't play their game.
Play your game, make sure that every adult person and every kid, will live long enough to curse them as well.

one time we had a griefer, he was wanted to be annoying to be hunted and play us.
I never played his game, I just made pads, thread and guard them by the fire.
I also informed everyone to just stay close and curse him.
The guy seeing that none of us played his game and that the cursing count was increasing, came in near us, dropped his horse and attacked.
I let him get blood in his weapon healed the victim and killed him.
I also gave a crown to a little kid and told him to curse the guy and also persuade every other child coming of age to curse him.

Griefers get bored easily if you don't play their game, just curse them.

There isn't a non-repairable damage a griefer can do.
Just let them do whatever, curse them and kill them only if they fucked up.
there is No point to hunt them around.

You cant ignore griefers. Maybe noob griefers get bored but more experienced lone wolves just want to kill families and towns. No one getting in their way just makes that job easier.

I personally think griefers get just as much gratification with not being caught as they do with being chases and publicly recognized. Perhaps even more.

Also cursing still needs a major buff. Sure they last a long time but they have more holes than swiss cheese. You can be born to the person you cursed since its only one way. All it takes is a few moments being offline for them to sneak in. They only last when you're online. So for someone to actually stay in donkey town they need to be cursed by enough people in the 24 hour cycle, it also relies on them playing every day around the same time. Seems like a tall order if you ask me.

#22 Re: Main Forum » Bug: Leaderboard name disappeared » 2019-12-25 01:05:29

Yup, i was confused by the same thing a while back. Play one game on a server with 15 plus and it should pop back up.

#23 Re: Main Forum » Exile Punishment » 2019-12-24 08:54:28

I think exiling the hierarchy system is a good idea.

In all seriousness systems that force players to do something inorganically dont work out very well. Just ask biome restrictions and our rich trading dynamics in game.

We already have gene score that forces people to play a certain way. These kinds of systems remove player choice and limit the experience of the game.

#24 Re: Main Forum » What do you guys think should be next focus for the game? » 2019-12-24 02:50:13

Fixing the issues with biome restrictions and tool slots.

Then tech tree advancements.

However I agree with fug's post here about the eve thing, and think that there should be a way to transfer biome abilities between families(maybe some kind of guidebook). So that the families STILL NEED to be found to progress tech, but not all need to survive at the same place for tech to happen.

That is a damn good idea.

Yea something like this needs to be done.

Imo tool slots need to either be static or not exist. The only way they are bearable from what i can tell is if you have a ton of them which basically defeats their purpose. Playing with 6 is a drag and i cant imagine most people enjoy grinding for more. Its a huge distraction and kinda forces everyone down the same path. Not everyone is born to good parents and overcoming that can be inspiring. I dont think diversity like that should be restricted.

Vets are still doing everything in the village. They are just grabbing who ever they can to do the next step in the process. Vets dedicated enough grind till they have a ton of slots and just do it themselves.

What purpose do tool slots serve and do they still preform that purpose when someone has 19? Are they balanced at 6? Do they hurt new players in the learning process?

Tool slot and biome restriction balancing needs to be seriously addressed. Its been weeks and weeks with few adjustments and ive seen very few people satisfied with the system. Except for those who say "its not so bad, i have 15 tool slots".
