#1 Re: Main Forum » OHOL Questionnaire; Do you still play? Why or why not? » 2019-10-24 05:58:32

I play a life occasionally but not a lot. Usually, it's only to check out what others have made. Often when I got on, Big cities have already been built and theirs not much that interests me besides looks. I've enjoyed the maps, Makes it easier to see all the towns in one life.

There was one time when the apoc happened. A lot of people suicided/died initially but we set up a camp real fast. We had tools and sheep by the time I died. Having multiple adults can really speed up setting up the basics.

#2 Re: Main Forum » I know that it’ll never happen but what if.. » 2019-09-17 07:20:28

What if we had boats instead.

Boats will become shipwrecked unless they land on a dock. So you need to bring stuff with you to help you build a new town, As a reward, you will be safe from the next apocalypse. Once the apoc happens, Eves will move over to nearest inhabited island or stay the same if nobody has moved.

#3 Re: Main Forum » The curse system needs attention ASAP » 2019-09-15 10:48:19

I don't think anyone actually ends up donkey town, Just moves the problem to another village. Maybe outside the rift this would be more effective but in the rift you can reach any town.
During the late-game, Griefers just need to choose a side and eliminate the weaker town for a reset.

I'd rather just have the rift last till every family had died out or an apoc ritual. Then have it so you get lineage ban if you receive chain curses from the same family. Sure, There would likely be war but towns matter more than family. It'd be easy to lineage ban griefers late-game resets would be much harder.

Add a smaller rift to D-Town. Let normal players spawn there with full gear and horse so they can hunt the griefers for fun. (Joke)

Makes me think of someone eating it and then aging backwards until they turn back into a baby.

#5 Re: Main Forum » WANTED: stdout.txt log from failed apocalypse whiteout » 2019-08-27 07:18:07

With me, it's not forever but it lasts longer then it should. But I can use zoom out to see food and it goes away eventually. I notice alot of people starve during the flash.

#6 Re: Main Forum » Ancient teaser trailer (old art style) » 2019-08-25 07:44:45

I thought this one was better at showing what the gameplay is actually like. Instead of showing modern and future tech that won't be the game for another 2 years.

I suspected as much, Also to lure people in so they can kill you for loot.

Its a nice project that improves life over time, especially improved road networking and the change is instantaneous. With each 10 tiles longer you have ten tiles longer road and an instantly reduced travel time.

I get it but most players are warmongers. Why travel to a town when you are so likely to be killed.

But if you mean building roads to resources then it's fine. Just that theirs several cities with bells and roads, It's easy to travel to other places you usually get killed on sight so it feels like a waste.

Why build roadways and belltowers?

Why put in all that work to connect towns, I don't get why you'd waste your time.

#10 Re: Main Forum » Why are we still acting like we're in the rift? » 2019-08-22 12:44:02

I agree with this, People still building fences outside the rift...
Can't really blame people though because they have been conditioned to it.

#11 Re: Main Forum » miskas' brilliant replacement for Donkeytown » 2019-08-21 10:04:20

Nice for dealing with lesser trolls, Slowly filter out the bads. But how to deal with Eves griefing?

#14 Re: Main Forum » The game trailer is misleading/outdated » 2019-08-14 10:35:46

Expectation: Build a civilization that from the ground up, Work with more advanced technology as time progresses. Each weekly update expands on the tech tree. By now I would've expected to be much closer to modern-day, Certainly didn't think we'd still be this primitive.

Reality: Post Apocalyptic PvP game, Defend your town from an increasing number of trolls.  Updates are rarely content and mostly gimmicks nobody asked for. Most everyday tech is still the same as it was, Apart from water and mining. We still use fires in cities the same way Eve did.

Disagree, there can be no real bloodlust in a game. They are mostly repressed kids that find the one place where they can use power to inflict harm to others. Griefers don´t kill to make their family last longer or because they win resources, they kill because IRL they don´t have a way to express the anger. So basically they are pussies IRL that need somewhere to steam off (most of the time they are so family/school/social repressed IRL that they can´t even show anger). They don´t care about the game, they don´t care about their ingame life. They care to make you miserable IRL.

Isn't that more or less the same as bloodlust. The desire to kill others in the game just because they enjoy it.

Anybody who partakes in raiding/killing towns are just trying to satisfy their own bloodlust.

#17 Re: Main Forum » Diesel Mining pick » 2019-08-03 00:00:54

I think the rift needs a long term supply of iron. I think even with unlimited use, The oil itself is still finite. Assuming the mine couldn't be fucked with, A lot of conflicts could be resolved by having public diesel mines. Just bring your own fuel and fill up on iron when you need it instead of fighting over veins and stealing from others.

#18 Re: Main Forum » Tarr's Monument » 2019-08-02 03:34:20

Well, I can make these in crappy towns before I leave/suicide.

#19 Re: Main Forum » A Peace Emote that makes it so you can't kill » 2019-08-01 08:29:14

How about a white flag instead of an emote, As long as you are holding it you are protected from swords but you can't load up your cart with our iron without giving up your protection.

Good to see Jason finally using the poll feature.

I think both of them will die out, I bet my account.

You seem to chose the more disfunctional cities, a bit sardistic, but thats your choise.

Theres currently plenty of functional cities ingame, with milkweed farms along roads and plenty of all the sorts of gathering and construction happening.

It's not so much the towns as the people who inhabit them.

#24 Re: Main Forum » Abortion and moral relativism in OHOL » 2019-07-20 06:36:19

Depends on the baby really, I'll happily kill any kid that spams ill and yoohoo. I usually drop my kids off at the nursery, Most times I just leave difficult babies to starve or find another mum. Killing creates more drama unless the townspeople are on board with it.

I certainly wouldn't be wasting my time healing some baby or killing the mum. The townspeople will either kill her themselves or condemn me if I decide to intervene, Wasting my life to avenge a baby.

#25 Re: Main Forum » List of Balancing Issues [No suggestions] » 2019-07-16 03:01:50

-Cars and Planes aren't useful despite being high effort. Low effort horse carts require no fuel and are easy to replace if lost.

- PvP massively favors the attackers, Game favors violence over peace in general.

- Rail carts still suck

- IMO, Lives regen too fast. Slower regen helps prevent rampant /die
