Almost surely more than one yum food past generation 9
I mean if you end up eating 19 yum foods during your lifetime that means last food gives you +19 pips. How much pips would you save during those 2 minutes from 3yo to 5yo? about 10? Possibly you wouldn't need to eat that 19th food if you got breastfed to 5yo, so one food is saved.
Not me. How much would you save? 1 yum food? Not worth the effort.
Tool slots disabled? I'm jumping into the game after a few months break. What a great news!
The best thing you can do is to eat only yum foods. You can see whether a food is yum or not to you when you are holding it (above the food bar "yum" or "meh" will appear when you are holding a food).
Every food is yum only first time you eat it in current life.
That's why it's good to have big variety of foods.
Yeah, you could eat only berries, but that would be super water inefficient. Water is finite.
https://onetech.info/ here you have all possible foods. Most of them are fairly easy to make.
Damn, that was fun to read, DestinyCall ![]()
Welcome, my name is peeewdiepie jaaasonrohrer
You can also tweak the lifeSpanMultiplier in the setting so you don't die of old age, that's very convenient for 1h30 sessions (be careful not to set it too high though or you won't age and will never reach the age to use a car)
It's better to change secondsPerYear than lifeSpanMultiplier since secondsPerYear works only for character aging anyways. Then you can set forceEveAge to let's say 25 years old, and this way you will start as 25yo and never get older if you set a big number in secondsPerYear setting.
It's worth having more than ~18 years old, because then you can overeat foods without wasting pips. Unless you also play without hunger, then 15 years old is enough to do everything.
I understand this mechanic was originally added to encourage trade
Actually there are more reasons
Why:
To make life in each parallel family feel unique
To encourage players to explore outside of their village bubbles and find other families
To encourage inter-family interaction, cooperation, and trade
To encourage players to bridge language barriers between families
To make climbing the upper reaches of the tech tree less linear, monotone, and certain
To give you more complex, interpersonal challenges
To partially model a beautiful facet of the real world, where different people from different areas specialize in different things
Would people read books tho?
They don't even read notes lying on the ground.
Yes, this change is really weird. Like, why can't we just start feast tables with bowl of whipped cream? This item is used only in feast tables.
We asked for containable pumpkin pies, and we got feast tables nerf in return...
Someone kills someone else, possibly through someone from another family coming to your place.
Don't forget that first kill needs to be done through exiling. 10 minutes thing would be really bad... Well, griefers would like it I guess.
I'm also against harvesting crops in advance, I don't know why some people do this.
Seems like it's really worth using sprinklers. 10 sprinklers give 216 water (1 kero = 24 uses * 10 sprinklers - 24 bowls of water = 216), that's over 5 times more than using kero on the well (40 water).
They are very expensive tho. 10 sprinklers = 5 full piles of iron + sprinkler pump which is another 19 iron + all water needed to make them.
We can't have too many sprinklers due to how expensive they are, but let's say we have 15 of them. The most efficient use I can think of would be making a line of 15 sprinklers and a 1x15 farm above and below them.
And just plant everything on these 15x1 farms and store all harvested products.
This way our farm could be really small and very efficient, but we would need big storage for harvested products, because it would be the best to harvest them right away and plant something else, whatever is needed.
As for plows... I don't find much use for them. Would it be worth using a plow on a 1x15 farm? That would save 15 soil and 15 uses of hoe. But it has 24 uses per one kero, so it would actually save 360 soil and 360 uses of hoes (on average 7 hoes = 3.5 iron) for cost of one kero use. I think it may be worth it using it on a 1x15 farm, but not smaller ones.
I don't feel like it is toxic. I don't see toxic behaviors too often... Except for griefing.
Bad idea. Yumming is optional and not necessary. It's a bad suggestion and definitely not an issue worth posting on github.
Bad idea.
When a new player asks me how to get water, I just laugh and tell them to go get it from ponds. There's simply no point in trying to explain any other way.
Don't underestimate ponds, they are a great source of water if a town has a horse or a cart with tires and 8 free buckets.
A fast person can fill 5 cisterns in 15 minutes only with water from ponds. It really surprises me that people don't get all possible water from nearest ponds (200 tiles in every direction).
Damn, lately I even seen a town that survived over 2 days, and they lived next to a swamp biome that still had many untouched ponds....
Don't laugh when you teach new people about getting water from ponds, pls, it's better if they do this than vets that could spend this time on getting oil. Im sure they would be happy doing this, using a cart and actually being very helpful.
We have steam sale, that's why we have more people like this, I don't blame new people that they disconnect in their first game. I understand why they do this, I remember my first game and did the same. I had no idea what to do and how to do things. I didn't know even one single recipe. No recipe book build in game, I didn't know about onetech either. If I didn't find out a good way to learn the game, it's very likely that I wouldn't play it anymore after my first, short life.
As for why cursed people count to your gene score. It's partially your fault if your babies (new players) disconnect soon after starting a game. If you don't teach them, it's very likely that they will disconnect. Lazy people would just curse new people instead of teaching them to prevent score loss.
I would say, this game needs something to make first games more interesting for new players. I don't always feel like teaching new players. They should have an alternative way to learn the game on their own, or at least basic stuff. If we had a recipe book similar to what mobile version of this game has, you could just tell them what to do and they could experiment on their own.
Are first 3 years really that boring to people?
Surely they are more boring for vanilla players, I wonder what they think about those 3 minutes.
Will you share results?
I like 2 the most - property only for leaders. I'm sure some people will like 3 too.
1 is not necessary IMO, since the only use from this would be passing the crown... And maybe following the next leader right away which actually would solve 3.
Busy week, wasn't it?
Great update, thank you Jason!
This game is really getting better and better, it's already at very good state, I even started telling other people about this game.
I really like your ideas... Craving... Brilliant! ![]()
Who cares about alternative accounts? They're unavoidable yes, but bricking an account is 20 of their dollars down the drain. Eventually they will stop. Spending 20 dollars over and over just to grief doesn't sound fun to me. Plus they'll have to make new accounts. It's an all around hassle, which is a deterrent.
We have a steam discount -40% now, possibly he bought some on previous discount.
And also Bobo doesn't need to buy new accs over and over again, after some time his old accs get out of dt, so he can use them again.
