I actually hate disneyland and I was a kid when i went, but my wife and her mom love it, so that's more of a girls trip they can do.  Plus that way my mother in law pays for it and i don't have to go wink

Beaverton, OR reporting here, sir! The eclipse really was spectacular. I'm glad you saw a partial at least and it sounds like Jason enjoyed his trip to see it. I was really lucky with timing, because I relocated here in 2016.

Best luck and blessings to you and the family, frag. I second whoever on here recommended Hope as a name LOL

A TO is a slap on the wrist meant to simply end the current situation.  A de-escalation.

"And of course, if you find yourself in TO over and over, you might start to suspect that more than one mod has become aware of your behavior, and that they've probably been wasting too much time on you.  That means that a ban is probably forthcoming, if you don't really adjust your course."

You also weren't banned for your behaviour in the street, but for the 3 time-outs you managed to get in 15min after already having collected 3 more over the last couple of days.

There’s a difference between a TO and abusing TO you jord are abusin TOs. I honestly could care less. Banned for swearing in the street! Then why are the street?

Just because it's a pet peeve of mine:

"I honestly could care less" = You could potentially care less about [subject] if you so desired
"I honestly couldn't care less" = I already have no care or concern about [subject] and therefore am unable to care less than I do.

Think of it this way:
I have no f***s to give = I couldn't care less.
I still have f***s to gives = I could care less

Turnipseed wrote:

Wait will these work as sheep pens?

I would build the sheep pen inside of the property fence. The property fence keeps other players out, while the regular sheep pen keeps sheep in. If a sheep were to escape the sheep pen, you would still have time to recapture them. This would probably be most effective if both entrances were staggered (not in a straight line in relation to each other, so that the animals don't have a chance to move in a straight line)

I miss the original fruit boots so much. Clothing and food in a two-for-one! Have to admit the new ones are more stylish and I'll make a pair if there's an abundance of snake skin.

I like this idea quite a bit. I think having a designated receptacle (only word I could think of) for trading in this way could be enough to push more players to barter and trade, at least on a small scale.

The "second layer" houses is an interesting idea, and something that I haven't ever thought of before.  Like each house is a secret cave that you can invite people into, but it only takes up one tile on the map (or however it looks on the map).  But maybe 10x10 on an invisible "second level map" that you can only see when you're in the house.

What about a set of stairs? Ladders? Second stories (even more?) would be GREAT incentive for players to build more. 1 tile could potentially hold 2 or more tiles worth of items this way. More storage, less clutter. Build UP not out!

I think it could work within the framework you are thinking about here.

Twisted wrote:

Why would a hat have intrinsic special powers? How does that make any sense?

I'm with happynova, a magic hat that gives you special powers sounds like the total opposite of what OHOL is all about. I feel like it would make the game super boring - either you have the crown and doing things is trivial, or you don't have the hat and it's a feelbad moment because you're being punished for no reason.

If I wanted to build big projects with a magic hat I'd just go play Minecraft or Terraria instead.

And why would a magic hat suddenly enable property rights? I honestly don't understand this train of thought at all.

Why would a couple of stone blocks and a ritual involving a 'nosaj' bring about an apocalypse? There's definitely a bit of fantasy/illusion/magic to this game, it's just all down to perception.

That said, the ability to widely distribute so many of these hats so easily, as Jason initially suggest, would most likely be utter chaos, and I could definitely foresee some players going the "minecraft building project" route, and if I wanted that I'd play Minecraft too.

I am intrigued by his idea of solving the issue of 'property rights' in-game, but this one could have many unintended consequences. It'd still be fun to see what players would do with that power.

Can I suggwst gray/undyed cloaks for the neutral players?   I would like a way to make it clear that I want nothing to do with the drama unfolding around me.

Uniforms are very useful.   The trick is getting people to recognize and agree on the meaning.

I have not, because if this meta happens most of the time I would be neutral. I've had lives where I was persuaded for both sides. Some of my favorite moms were building endtowers and i didn't destroy them because they were actually great moms with a vision to pass down to their kids.

I should have offered more of my thoughts. Because, I for one, agree with you that these factions already exist in-game, but it just hasn't been widely recognized.

I remember long ago when I first started playing that players were starting religions left and right, and it was always great fun spending a life or two in one of those religious groups.

For that reason I like to think of apocalypse-neutral as it's own unique faction, that would have their own customs, ideas and goals. Maybe we could wear the beige-colored cloaks to show our neutrality hahaha XD

#14 Re: Main Forum » A rough, incomplete sketch for makng family survival more meaningful » 2019-04-02 20:58:46

--Some kind of a actual chromosome-tracking simulation, with cross-breeding between nearby men and women, or whatever (people have been asking for this for ages).  Your pool of potential mothers for future lives includes any that have any of your chromosomes.  This allows chromosome spread into other towns and families through bride- or group-swapping.  Again, this would probably be too fine-grained, and extremely hard for players to reason about.

I don't know that being able reason out the chromosome tracking would be essential in-game for me personally. I can see the advantages of being able to track it while in game, but IRL humans aren't able to do so anyway.

I actually think adding a chromosome system to the game would be interesting and would provide additional societal dynamics. As an example, the family you are born to is your immediate family (just like IRL), but perhaps some of your ancestors migrated or inter-married with another family. Now that inter-married family is your extended family. Maybe they'll help you out in times of need. Maybe one of your ancestors did something heinous and now there is a feud between the families.

I think intermixing families/towns in a meaningful way is missing from the game and I would enjoy that dynamic.

If there's one thing I would pass on from my past experience with litigation it would be that you should be EXCEPTIONALLY careful about how you present yourself and communicate, even online.

If someone were to-hypothetically-take screenshots of your posts on this forum and forward them to Innogame's legal representation, it could potentially jeopardize your case against them.  *edit: AND any potential litigation you might take against the dev here.

If there's another thing I would offer it would be something several lawyers have told me over the years: "Only a fool appears in pro se in front of a court" (with the exception of traffic and small claims courts, which require you to appear pro se in most jurisdictions).

Ugh. Back to Minecraft, I guess...

I think the political stuff is more in forums, where people have more time to think about their words.
Also Rohrer doesn't seem to shush anyone here. Exception being in discord and in forums.
For these typical snowflake posts (which often come rather often considering that winter is coming and we need to brace for the "cold arrival") I think there should be rant forum section where players can put their concerns of any. At least lets people have all their toxious ooze splattered in more "secure" location.

And when it comes for racism in game... I already thought that the nudity in game already provides enough evidence of what is to come of the game. It's the wild west of all sorts of imagination people have to offer. Instead of being sandbox of censors and censors and censors... it is actually good as it is (as far as I've seen it). People are racist no matter how much you try to sugarcoat it. If you though kill over someone's saying of bad words, I don't know what to say. It's hard to save someones eyesight from such narrow mind.
And I congratulate those people who push ppl's limits. I have always appreciated free speech... let it be black humor joke or political debate. Those around you who try to criminate your joke on something, oh... thank god there is rebirth button, you can always revive and repeat your process. No harm done. I'll be like baby who sees sugarflakes for a first time when I name my baby after Stalin, or Levin.

Okay, but here's my point:

I am a 30-year-old with a career, partner, and dogs. I work 40+ hours a week. my free-time and energy are generally limited by my other responsibilities. I have multiple entertainment options available. Television shows, streaming platforms, other console & PC games, etc.

With the current climate in-game (baffles me why you point out that most of this is on the forum. EXACTLY the problem BECAUSE these are the people actually playing the game regularly), why would I want to allocate my limited time to a game that has become an unenjoyable experience because of all of this political garbage. THAT'S WHAT I'M TRYING TO ESCAPE WHEN GAMING! THE REAL WORLD!

This b/s where people kill only black/brown/white babies in game has gone on for months. I've been called "libtard" in-game because I picked up an axe that someone felt belonged to them. People go around saying "Heil" and "MAGA" and shit.
WHY WOULD I WANT TO PUT UP WITH THAT WHEN TRYING TO ENTERTAIN MYSELF

Let me be clear that I'm generally pretty thick skinned, and have no issues or fear standing up to people in general. It's just the amount/volume that is now past my limit of patience.

That's my point to Jason. I want to enjoy this game. The idiots on both sides are making it impossible. As it stands now, I went from recommending this game to all of my gamer buds to recommending AGAINST it.
