I just wanna give props to who ever has been building the beautiful graveyards on (what I assume is) server 1.

I've seen them over the past week or so, and one I saw today was by far the best and most pretty.

It's the first time I've just come across truly pretty stuff that was built by the playerbase.  that is pretty inspiring because honestly, most everything built by the players so far hasn't been nice to look at.  makes me want to figure out the best way to build pretty stuff, kinda how minecraft or terraria made me want to learn to make pretty stuff.

Wish I would have taken a screen shot, I will if I come across another one and remember.

anyways, nice job figuring out how to design beautiful stuff in this game, i have appreciated your work.

so some asshat gets a knife and starts murdering everyone.

no worries, you have one of the village knives, passed down to you from your long dead aunt, who saw how productive you were and gave you the knife to protect before she died.

this is your shot.  the insane killer is slowed from murdering, this should be piece of cake.

you take out your knife and click on the jerkoff murderer.

whats that? didnt seem to work. hmm..

the crazy lunatic is slowed down, but still moving.

it seems like you cant click on somebody if they are in between tiles...hmm..

they are so slow that they always seem to be in between tiles...

its like if they just keep moving you cant click on them....

oh looks like the psychopath can kill freely again, because they just never stopped and they couldnt be clicked on

oh they stabbed you...

village is now dead...

^^this has happened to me way too many times

It would be so nice to see people eating together.

What I like about your idea, besides food variety and bonuses, is the fact that it can imply a time of gathering for the members of the community, which not only can be fun in itself, but also permits to exchange about what is needed at that time and give directions in order to improve the settlement. That is something that really lacks in the game, I think.

I'd like to see people eating together too, but this proposition doesn't do much to encourage it.  They must be at the SAME PLACE at the SAME TIME to exchange ideas.

I also really like the idea of having everyone gather at same time to eat together and be able to make plans, just like a real family dinner.

To get everyone together at same time, it would have to be only available for a short time--otherwise people would just come and eat whenever they happen to be nearby.

This means it would also have to be worth it for everyone to stop what they are doing and run over to the dinner table to eat, especially considering smart people have a backpack with food when they are out and about.  I don't really have a good idea about how to do that.  Maybe some kind of really good YUM bonus, or a "stuffed" buff where you don't lose hunger for like 3 minutes.  I'm sure there are better ideas.

You would also have to be able to let everyone know that "dinner is ready!".  For this I would love to see a dinner bell you ring to let everyone nearby know.  I am imagining one of those giant triangles that would be on some kinda "little house on the prairie"/farm type place.  It would be like a town bell tower, but only visible for people that are very close, and would only be visible for a very short time.  So when the dinner bell is rung, people nearby know they have only a minute to run over to the table and take advantage of the feast.

instead of all this cursing business (which, honestly, seems silly and contrived) why not just give us a way to replant trees? wouldnt that solve alot of the worst griefing?

#5 Re: Main Forum » WHO HAS EVER BEEN CALLED BLUE? » 2018-07-06 01:08:29

I named my child Blue today.  Mostly because my last name was Moon, and I already tried to name a child Blood (which get changed into Blossom, if you were wondering...I guess Blood is not a very popular name).  However I did think of this thread when I did it.

I honestly cant remember the last time I was killed for being a boy. I'm sure it happened, but the mother never explicitly said so.

My main issue with males is there was a time or two where only men were left and I suicided because there was no point in continuing.

What if there was a craftable item only adult males could use to beckon eves that are nearby. Similar to the bell but could perhaps cause eves to be spawned nearby. Could break upon use maybe. This way two dudes alone in town could have a shot at resurrecting the town. The nearby eve could choose to start over where she is or search for the nearby town.

Maybe have it require the bones of a female or two.

Fertility statue perhaps?

omg, yes, something like this!!  SO many times I have been in a village where there are no women left.  Whenever this happens, I feel pretty bad about this game(as in, "why am i playing this game") and I just go kill myself on a rattlesnake.  However, those feelings would likely not come up if I could build something that would drastically increase the chance of an eve spawning there.  I wouldn't even care if the Eve spawned while I was alive or not, just knowing that it is likely someone will find my abandoned village is enough.

I think the overflow tank should be limited based on your age. When you are a baby, you have two overflow squares. When an adult, you have five. When an elder, you go back to two. When full, you cannot eat, yes; you have to wait for it to drain all the way first. But a hard cap on the overflow tank would be ideal, in my opinion.

yeah i like this.  with only like 5 or so extra squares as an adult, its still possible to waste food (which should be possible) and kids and elders are still better off eating simpler foods, however we are less encouraged to wait until we are at the very last square before eating a slice of pie. seems like a win-win?

I also like the idea of your character being "too stuffed to eat anymore", its just some fun flavor.

#8 Re: Main Forum » Unnamed people should be able to choose their family name » 2018-05-28 16:21:29

I think there should be a way for someone to give an unnamed their family name.  You should be able to craft some family ring or necklace and give it to an unnamed.  They would then get your last name, and a special first name that only adopted would have...something like how in Game of Thrones the bastards all have last name of Snow so everyone knows they were bastards.  The family ring/necklace should be somewhat annoying to craft, but not crazy hard, so that being brought into a family is a special event for all involved.

#9 Re: Main Forum » Speak up if you see an unnamed child » 2018-05-20 08:52:27

Oh, I wasn't even thinking it would prevent murders.  I made this post more because:

1) I really hate it when I am not named. (I don't really know why, I just don't.  It feels like being a bastard I suppose)

2) When it has worked out it has been really fun, and I figured I would throw the idea out there so someone else may have some of the same fun.

Yeah, chances are the kid I spend time trying to get named will die young (or grow up to murder everyone) and nothing meaningful will arise from the effort, but, whatever that just kinda is the game.  At least a few times in a long life I will find myself around a bunch of kids and if I notice I will tend to say something.  It is, for me at least, worth the effort.  I mean if I notice it in the first place, I am probably not in a big hurry.

I have done this a few times now, and its a really cool way to help someone out.

No one likes being nameless.  Every time I have spoken up and successfully made sure a kid got a name, it has been a great experience.  We ended up forming a special bond because of it and everyone was happy.

(Special shoutout to Midori Founds, my cousin I made sure got named earlier tonight(I was Shine Founds).  I was just a baby, but I noticed my cousin had no name.  Her mom, Mia, was nearby and Mia is a short enough name that I got her attention: "mia_nam_ur_kid" I said with my 3 character limit. It worked and a lifetime later, me and Midori ended up ruling the town by wearing the two crowns the town had.  Then we died of old age together after passing the crowns on to the next generation.)

#11 Re: News » New Eve placement algorithm » 2018-04-25 02:27:27

What happens after third iteration (or after you apply another update).  Does it make sure the next three Eves spawn on the outside of a previous circle?  If you applied an update during the last picture, then the third iteration would almost be the same as the first.  I don't even know if that would be a problem, I am just wondering.

#12 Re: Main Forum » Is it worth following the bell tower "home markers" » 2018-04-20 17:48:56

I was an Eve, Eve Ishman, and I followed the bell.  On the way I met an older man at an abandoned village with alot of carts and carrots.  He had a cart full of backpacks with clothing in them and told me he was also following the bell.  I grabbed a cart with four baskets full of carrots and we traveled together for a long time, maybe 4 - 5 mins, stopping together to eat and making sure we were never too far off screen so not to lose each other.  I was sad when he died while off screen somehow, but I had a boy, Isaac Ishman, while mourning the old mans death.  I told Isaac of my pilgrimage and when he was old enough, he followed with me.  Unfortunately, we had to leave the old man's cart with backpacks, as I was not willing to wait for Isaac to be strong enough to pull the cart himself.

We found The Promised Land of the Bell after another 3-4 mins--so maybe a total of 7-9 mins of running total.  I didn't explore the town much but it wasn't as big as I thought it would be. They only had a medium sized farm going--maybe 7 or 8? (not sure how tall screen is, but you had to move up or down a few tiles to see it all) tall by 3 or 4 wide of carrot plots.  I had two more daughters and raised them by the fire, telling them of my journey to the Promised Land.  When I was too old for kids I went to the farm and it was almost out of seeds.  I grabbed a cart of baskets and ran off in search of seeds.  I died by a rattle snake.

I don't know if that village later starved or not. It seems to reason that ringing the bell too much may cause a town to be swamped with people then suffer a mass die off due to starvation, or maybe not, this was just what happened to me.
