Dear Pedro,

I spawned in village where I spawned 3 times. Everytime I was king or queen there and it was cleary griefed more each time I visited. I ran away when I could because they were all naked and it was more a tribe in a post apocalyptic world than a flourishing civilization that it was before. I went north because I know those two villages were heavily connected. There were only men north, there too it was griefed even more, half carrots field removed and the last sheeps I have seen since days were dead. I found my old crown in the forest but still had to work hard for the first time.

I had many girls, I named them all Earth One to Earth Seven. I manage to escape in south village a strange woman with bag full of knives, stuff to mine gold. She tried to kill me for my crown I guesd but I manage to escape, I tried to kill her but she died of hunger, I hesitate to save her child but he died of hunger before I could decide, this ''fight'' was the scariest moment I ever had on this game.

There was a boy that wanted to die, you pedro, but I manage to talk to you.  my girl earth one you and I shared our previous lifes. We had fun, we had to many younglines so we made a race with two baby, the fastest won but he died of hunger on the run. A griefer failed to kill us and ragequit too, good moments.

You wanted to die to a bear with my crown and my knife, I gave you the crown, I killed you by mistake...

I am so sorry Pedro.

I have a read a comment somewhere that mentioned that Jason once talked about adding a doomsday device that could be made and triggered by players. I love that idea so much, mainly for how it'll probably be very far in the tech tree and the players will somewhat have to work together to ensure it's not activated, haha.

I see well one guy doing that all by himself

Yeah you right, if people knew there were no more eve they would start killing everybody just like berry diggers and fences remover right now.

This isn't 100% true. The game spawns in more Eve's than IMO it should. I'd prefer to wait a minute or two and be able to help a dynasty, than spawn immediately as an Eve and be in competition to that dynasty. A lot of the time a dynasty ends because they are outcompeted by an Eve. Regarding the dynasty that lasted 31 generations (I was the last or second last dynastic member), the town didn't end there. An Eve came and helped me repopulate. If I was born a girl, the longest dynasty would have been longer, but alas... So although the dynasty only lasted about 14 hours (I was present close to the beginning also), the town was continuously populated for over 24 hours. Murdertown/Trump Town has pretty much been continuously populated for a week (empty for a few hours here and there).

I strongly disagree with your assertion that without Eves servers would necessarily go extinct when it's often Eves (and the children they take by virtue of existing, from established towns) who cause the collapse of dynasties and towns (Eves often grief, or produce griefers because they are outsiders). Of course over a long enough time and given the stochastic nature of the game, you're right.

What I meant is that if we stop producing eve on servers, humanity could extinct easily because of mass murderers. People would start killing boys for better chance of repopulating and things go more extreme, that could be an good experiment.

Eves wipe other families from villages but don't cause to collapse city, starvation may kill many people, it oftenly doesn't kill everyone. Eves repopulate rather than destroy.

Short answer: No, Jason will not do that. You don't even need to ask.

Also - why didn't you just make a bow or knife and kill the troll? Where were your guards? Why didn't you have soldiers around?

Have you seen the speed of digging ? If it was slower we could catch him but he can dig while running and ruins easily. I used to guard berryfield but that shit is fast. If it tooks 1 or 2 extra seconds that would be perfect.

No, we're not. I think you've been placed in the wrong serwers is you say so or you have terrible luck for mothers. I've seen some decent towns with animal farms and all the tech already even on servers 1 and 3 ow - the "always populated" ones.

What about ice aga "apocalypse"? Huricane? Global flood? Natural ones could be nice to break the normal gameplay.

Nah they were using bow without cool down and fice of range, even worst.

I guess he transformed most of the fences into tongs too, killed animals, free the horses.

This dude must really be jaleous for doing that, I can't stop thinking about a crying kid that devoted his life to destroying people works. General their parents are as much shitty as they are, no wonder they are act like that.

Jason should ban somes of these griefers, the young kids wont be able to rebuy the game.

This isn't really feeling like the fun community game I thought it might be.

I'm "good enough" at this game, and it still feels way too serious to be a "fun community game" (so I don't play it much anymore).  Don't get high hopes.

I don't know what to do about it.  I guess I'll probably just wait and see what becomes of the game in the future, though I hate to see that I'm missing so much of this early interesting build up as well.

Anecdote: we had that "horses" update recently, but being already tired of this game and its demands, I didn't bother trying to work through the tedious craft chain to get a rideable one.  Today I logged on as an Eve, wandered around, found a few ghost cities, found one with a tied-up tamed carted horse.  Tried to fill its cart with bone baskets; got frustrated with how finicky horse movement is.  Rode it for a bit.  Had a baby; raced the baby (I won).  Ran into a bear and died.  Said, "okay, that's about all I'm going to get out of that update," and quit.

In my experience, this game has successfully incorporated a relatively high proportion of life's frustrations and a relatively low proportion of its rewards.

Baby part is annoying but it's the time you get to know who is with you, then if you don't have fun it's because of yourself, I have fun almost every game, mostly because I do other things than working hard. I do lots of roleplay or doing strange things or give order such as "work hard". I can dodge work all the time when I have the crown.

#463 Re: Main Forum » New player starting woes » 2018-04-04 18:48:51

Outch, you had bad luck, but it's normal that at the begin crafts seems so hard to do, over complicated, when you get it you are really more valuable and you forget a bit about hunger, it becomes natural to eat often.

Trust me boy, when the game can out, most of people didn't know most things and it was an hobo world, murderer everywhere, nobody know how to defend.

And if you don't like your place you can still take a basket of carrot and go find civilization in the wild.

I like that everything is up to you in this game, since the update few days ago there are less lots of murderer.

Today I got one little girl. I called her Snow. My older daughter Aaban, Snow and me were a happy family. I went to the clothes and gave snow the best clothes I could find.
Snow started then to run away from me, after I gave her the best clothes. I run after her, because I wanted to rebuild this city and we needed more girls and the nice clothes.

On my way I found a bow and arrow on the ground. To save the clothes and end it quick I grabbed it and run after her.
She died on starvation. A few seconds later a new baby was born. I put all the clothes on the baby and it said "lol same mum" and run again away.

The next baby was a boy. I shouted at him "Is it you again?" He didnt replied. I gave him the clothes and headded back to the town. Then again a new baby spawned and said "lol same mum" and run. I grabbed the bow again and run after her. I reached and shoot her this time. She died with my arrow in her. My son logged out and also died.
Again I was alone, still in the wilderness. Probatly twenty years later after I run after my girl I reached the city again. I saw my daughter she did great. I told her the wild story and she got a baby. I was getting old, probatly it was my last baby. When it spawned it said "lol same mum" and run around.
I got angry told my daughter that we need to kill it. I then put it in the sheep pen, but couldnt hold it in the pen, because it run around so much. It run around and trolled me. I told my daughter again that we need to kill that monster, but she didnt wanted to. I thought about the bow in the wild and run as fast as I could to get that bow again. I saw my daughter caring about that troll and I just shoot the troll baby so it wont destroy the city. After all that fcked running I was just thinking the baddest things it could do when it was grown.

My daughter went crazy and I told her that I needed to do it. I put the bow and arrow on the ground and wanted to start working. Clean the city, do the things that I wanted to do thirty years ago. But at the same moment I saw my daughter grab the bow and she hunted me. My last words were  "Why me?" then the arrow hit me and I died only running after my baby and running away from my other baby.

Thats how loyal my babys are!!! big_smile

Yeah some babies are fuckers

I was dad sometimes or had children given to me as mom but that weren't mine nor named.

I thought that was great to adopt left over child and make them part of our family if they were nobody. I mean those people who can't see their family name because they dont even had first name. It could keep some family full of men alive. Give girls as present. All that stuff.

Here is a funny story :

I saw a lil' girl alone in carrot field, I feed her but she was nobody. I ask girls if it was their child until I found the mom. I ask her to name her but she didn't want to. I keep asking to do it therefore she gives the child an insult to me "YOU ARE DEAD TO ME", we start arguing roleplaying I guess, I threathen her life but a naked old man came by and say "HELLO" in the middle of the situation. "SHUT UP OLD MAN" He got stab in the face, I got shoot by an guard that had the time to gather weapons around since I had my knife out for minutes. It was really fun, sad my girl is stupidly named.

#466 Re: Main Forum » Loyalty to Mom » 2018-04-04 14:06:29

Depends, sometimes I do everything for the caring moms, I want to make them proud of me.
Mom that left me behind can get screwd, even worst if she left me without name.

#467 Re: Main Forum » Horses Problem? » 2018-04-04 13:48:57

I have never been killed by animals on horse, I mean step on them and don't die, but I have seen many people getting down their horses and die ambushed by animals.

I have killed someone that killed somebody else, I tried to explain my situation but the dude shooting me with a bow missed few times, he missed me. But still, it's like a minute that in which you can die of starvation, of people awfuly bad, even wolf sometimes. now griefers just grief more than mass killing. Is that better ?

My point is : The game evolves and players can defend themselves better everyday, murders have greatly reduced, the cooldown should reduce over next updates. Maybe reduce the run cool down, not the kill  one.

Have you ever started a nomad family ?

I tried but it is quiet hard, you can't be more than 3 and that's already hard enough with 3, you have to make sure they know what to do or wont suicide when adult.

My strategy was simple : Try to make bow and arrow, get skins and give it to youngest, make baskets. When they are enough old, then give everything to kids and leave. If people were really into each life this strategy would have the best chance to spread his dynasty all over the map until somes that know how to play decide to settle for good.

Share your experiences, your thoughts.

It's our duty to prevent murders ourself, I like the idea that the game who is about everybody helps to improve, I almost never get stabbed, many times when someone is talking to me with a knife in his packback, I know he will try to stab me which he does most of ths time but I had to die so many times.

The acctual cooldown is enough long, except if you're new you have enough the time to kill the killers. I have seen so many people get starved to death by the knife's cool down.

Fully dress with rabbits fur you lose like 6 hunger bar before being able to do anything else. People wont never feed you by fear to get stab next.

@rebel, but once societies get too big, there are bound to be slip ups due to ignorance. At this point in the 'tech tree', we are equivalent to societies such as the Akkadians, Assyrians, and unified Egypt (essentially the bronze age). However, it is not wrong to say that we are in the Hittite's iron age due to our access to steel tools (steel is basically fancy iron). However, since there is not enough communication in ingame societies and there is bad delegation of power due to that bad communication, it is very hard to sustain an empire like those mentioned above, even though we have surpassed the technology required to build one. Also, trolls easily overpowering a fully functional society do not help. Implementing some sort of law code would help organize towns, and we could see more interdependence, specialization, loyalty, culture, diplomacy, and warring, somethings I'd love to see. I do not agree with the method of implementation. Players rarely interact with walls and have no reason to click on the walls. It would be better to have stones (NOT Paper, because it decays. Additionally, no known ancient society used paper to write their law codes) left by a nursery so that the tribe mother can give to children. A stone would be inscribed with the laws of the city. Maybe, upon consumption of the stone's inscription, the game could throw up the written format of the law code on the players screen for the rest of the game and stick it in some corner of the screen. I like this, it mirrors Hammurabi's obsidian stele, describing in detail the laws and punishments in every aspect of society, from business to private to religious.

How do you think those ancient empires collapsed? lack of communication.

Pretty sure they didn't die because weren't social

#472 Re: Main Forum » Fall-back outposts. » 2018-04-03 15:15:24

Except people live most of the time in farm and walls cost too much to be made. Even a little house with 2 squares usable in it takes a shit load of time to do.

tWe will need rock and wooden walls in the futur or something. Even roads are hard to make but there is enough ressource to do it.

#473 Re: Main Forum » You want a killer? You get a killer » 2018-04-03 14:58:17

Killers are very dangerous in careless city, killing people isn't a problem, but griefing is :

I oftenly kill people, but I never mass murder or kill young women. It is so usefull to have less mouth to feed. I kill when I need to most of the times.

But griefing is just shit, I saw an old town of mine where all the floors were removed, all fences turned into tongs, all ponds were empty. It feels like being Henry coming back in his destroyed home but with tongs everywhere

#474 Re: Main Forum » THE STORY OF "DIE" » 2018-04-03 12:49:20

I just had a game where I started in a settlement with like 10 people. So I look up at the berryfield, digged up too..

. I live away from the village, I dunno how they keep surviving, I explore until I found all my stuff in the nature, I find a small farm with an eve. I head back to my town, regriefed... everyone's dead, I start tidy the mess and all corps when a young lady help me, and then stab me.
