#2 Re: Main Forum » Naming your kids what you REALLY want » 2019-06-24 13:21:03

I am sure everyone who reads this has done naming, like: you are aluminiumfinder <- kid laughs, gets a decent name and I explain why, and say sorry but this is this liff'. Maybe add sh*t happens.

Or "berrymuncher" - changes to (I do not remember what) but before kid does /die I say jk (joking), we've got good town going there, need X and Y if you want, or work in farm. I always try to make name/life sound important, as it is, really, imo.

If I see someone older nude just eating berries I often do ask "if you are new I can show some things" -> referring to compost-farm-cycle, if fast learner I also show how to smith basic tools. I've been asked to do diesel engine, I am not so confident on myself to do that so I've told (truth) we don't have enough iron atm( at the moment). For my kids I ask (when they near 3 yo) say n if new and want to know basics, then tell N sayers to follow and ask what they want to learn.

Because we need bigger playerbase, it is nice to teach - I know basic stuff will be done in town while I go adventure (or pein builds a car), Whatever.

See what I did there ? wink ty all for fun gaming.

Oh, FYI the zoom out mods don't zoom out more than about one or two screens. Unless you have your own database and have lived in that place (I think those images pein has modified hide: total real location as far as he knows, player ID when mouseover - nothing too "bad"). And things I stated I think are maximum ones.

The mods do NOT show too far-away people, they may show what certain tile had in the past. I use one mod tha shows about one-two screens away compared to standard client. When I got killed by mosquitoes (later I found out I was in Twisted's video) I did holes in trees, they're too deadly when behind a tree, they really are. Also now I see what's hidden there, stopped griefer attack by taking swords away from behind maple trees smile

Seconded, though there are some points. I did not stab someone who took one of FIVE flats bit north to make both eggs and tortillas(or w/e those are called). I walked there, noticed them doing it (3 persons) and just said "return stone when done" and girl said "of course". If I were doing something in the forge, and had less than five rocks I might have acted differently. This time I just spent half year watching and they were efficient so I left.

I had long discussion about growing milkweed. People are basically annoyed it produces one plant per a slot of soil (two). I see no problem, make more soil ? IRL today in usa or, let's say brazil, some crop is so tax-reduced (most cars in brazil use local fuel which is alcohol). USA does almost useless corn. None of my business though.

People just don't like they don't get so much return/usage of land. Even after hours of discord-chat I've failed to tell that - some crops just need more work !

I do not care if irl that is easier etc... this is game, not irl, so J makes some stuff harder, some easier.

Build hexagonal farms with holes to get ropes in, and while other stay in their 4x4 farms, you go adventure, help your village, and come back and there's still four ropes or so to be picked by you (I mean me). And I repeat: elders of village see this, see you bringing valuable stuff so they give you bp with knife, clothes etc - so you save even more time with this. No need to make extra knife, kindling, coal-you get it for being NICE. Ez.

#7 Re: Main Forum » To Eve Tigert » 2019-06-24 12:31:58

TL;DR - hp to ./sad

As relative newbie I prefer gen3, gives some freedom. I've been around the bench (or how do you state it in English idk).

There is usually eve still, but bit old, and hopefully coordinating stuff - so I say what I'd prefer to do (ofc if nobody found iron yet it's priority), and old lady tells me which areas are searched already. But I think I can pick what I bring, usually go nude still but some gen 2 is (if pein or Tarr) with horse, if not then at gen3 I make cart anyhow and now baskets don't decay so they're good.

Eve has done (hopefully) two 3x3 berryfarms, and someone is expanding so I can go drop all branches from nearby trees while I travel searching... whatever-or just making more and more charcoal. But my forte' is making milkweed, and gen3 can do it massively. After that it's just either enough players or enough ppl who bring water. When couple of iron mines found, that, water and coal and all is set.

./sad thing that kills after that is either 50% of twins are griefers, not good ones so they grief gen3-4 (since they cannot do better) or boredom by ppl who arrive there-nothing to do any more. <- yay you found point of my post.

Sorry I only have property-fence you'd irl not want to cross, with road next to it (I think I posted this already)... http://prntscr.com/o5wx7i

You think you're quirky, but you're just wrong.

Maybe. Or maybe, having three people of all discord users marked as griefer, you, a mod and one other (I let you hazard a guess) are three. But np, that's just MY discord/ohol what I've marked, and I've only chatted with, say, 300 people. Ofc it's my problem not yours.

You did miss that was generation 24 with no oil ? Need I say more ? I thought I stated most generation 8+ have oil. Or I may be wrong on that, or I may lie on that. Nice thing is, everyone can take their pick.

#10 Re: Main Forum » Post screenshots of: Town Castles » 2019-06-24 03:50:20

That's the town I've been repeating my once-in-a-lifetime good radio sender and receiver, so bear with my repeat:

Receiver in nursery (up right there), and kids heard about stuff town needed: only time I've seen kids pick a profession ! Also, the radiohead told where each biome was, told where rabbit-traps were in town, etc etc

I volunteer for lifetime sender if born to such a town, sending every 2.5 years biome info for kids and other times sending dumb puns, also about possible attackers or griefer-bears or such. It was one of my favorite lives, and told the radiohead to continue (also told earlier we're out of pads now don't get mauled-which he also repeated through radio).

I had a similar shower thought. Rain comes randomly as you said and need shelter to avoid getting soaked and losing food pips faster, plus maybe heatwaves too.

In fact, to facilitate easy coding while not decreasing yum-chain AND help to add more foods and maybe zero yumchain when hit with rough weather (or diminish yum by some, not fair to zero imo). We'd get rid of many foods, get yum for planning better (when adventuring you'd need to figure out what and how much to bring with you) etc-though tent would help here. Just one second during blizzard/whatever would help.

Please don't take me as some doomsayer, I don't mean to get peoples life more difficult, but this would give buildings, wayhouses and (possibly tents) a purpose. Write to paper: one-twenty-west-horse-fence-rainshelter-too. It'd add to reality of situation and you'd know to read library before leaving town (oh, did you notice me slipping a meaning to towns having a library there ?).

Do note, it helps also with friends playing together - you'd like to have each pie, so go adventure with friend, if bad weather you can eat from eachother's pies and potatoes. One brings some, other brings some. <3

Read all, and imo you're wrong in only one instance and that is taking flat stones. So, no tools and someone brings iron to town-you've robbed all nearby areas and town of flat ones. "Oh but they can go search more, in that place 400 tiles NW" - yeah. See ?

So I've answered to your post once, this is second time, and to as... hmm... useful idea. Are you sure YOU are not the problem instead of YOU being the solution ? Ok, you're the best player ever, ok. So, let us less able to have those four (4) stones, while you go pick those four (ONLY four) stones from the wilds. Because you, self-proclaimed griefer, are so superior being compared to anyone else, it's no bother to you but it IS a bother to us-why not use those flat stones you know where they are ?

I've built long roads, taking two lives for some longer ones, and when I get 50-80 flat stones I don't really need those four in town, ready in place, waiting for iron. You do ? (I know, you'll cut this to pieces and suddenly I am the bad guy here, for road 100 long will not be built for I want those four stones to stay there when someone comes with raw iron)

#13 Re: Main Forum » Pine Walls Too Expensive » 2019-06-24 02:55:08

Weather as such can't be (isn't it like one second is 6 days irl), but it could be ofc, whole server having, say, rain, for, 30 seconds=half a year. Oh well. I can live with that.

So maybe, if you spent not a second inside that 30 secs of rain in (new item: tent, usable once, one small item size) or correct area of building, you'd not have double food consumption for next year or two. Not too hard to code, and image for rain should be rather easy, just google what I sometimes use in background or going to sleep. Hard to code would be stuff it would do to environment, but no need to do anything, right ?

Also, would allow new foods since now they would be needed. (edit: misspellings)

Maybe. And maybe. You forgot the part where I said someone needs to survive to get lots of iron to get oil going. If there was that lull (either by stones to next well or bringing buckets of water) something must've stopped you (generation 24 ffs) from going to search iron.

My guess is still you were in a side-village of a town, and town had picked resources already. But yes, I'd gone for iron-apart from the part you stated there were no berries and bushes were drying of drought. To which water helps afaik..?

#16 Re: Main Forum » Twin Eve are different families BUG? » 2019-06-24 02:29:48

What question ? Twins are born twins, twin-eves... So call'em war-eves or something, not twin eves. Easy. As easy as programming the change to make'em twins and speaking some language, need to 1) create non-existing now dead player, say eve-eve 2) change these two be be her kids.

How to give surname, that's the problem here. They must be born with one then, but I don't see that as too much a problem.

Well, you there have different ideas what "borderline" means...

Oh well, we here say stuff like that and nobody takes notice (no, I'm in not some kind of asylum, fyi, and people who don't know me too well see me as decent and ok human being-often I even dress as one). Don't ask me to define "often" please wink

#18 Re: Main Forum » Punishment Zone » 2019-06-24 02:14:11

No, it is not easier than programming autonomous car. I was in team building one that drove w/o driver in driver's or any other seat in 1989. Yet, we still don't have self-driving cars (well, it did drive, but insurances for such a car would be impossible even today to implement).

Also, programming was rather hard. It did drive 50km/h and had GPS, if either GPS cut (satellites or our local delta-it's been removed since anyone could remove that 100m or so difference in location that was originally in GPS) it'd stop. Or if a camera saw movement in front of it. Roads were public ones, nobody just, umm, remembered to ask anyone if it is legal since there was no law against it.

Don't even imagine it would be possible to program, even if it doesn't need to be foolproof in this game. Yes, getting people to watch other peoples games (picking ppl in random) is a griefer heaven-who else would LOVE to judge others ? I know what I typed above, but in actuality I don't see any way to do this either (or the cases I wrote above you chose not to comment on).

#19 Re: Main Forum » Pine Walls Too Expensive » 2019-06-24 02:04:12

Where I live, a house was about to be dismantled.

It was found out it was one left from before big fire in 1800's, one made from straw and clay. Never heard of pine needles used as wall material. Remember, we have down to -40 at winters(below that no school), up to +40 celsius in summers - well, normal summer +30 celsius is maximum. I discount those couple summers in this decade that +24 was max...

#20 Re: Main Forum » Is It Worth Living In A Dead Village? » 2019-06-24 01:52:13

Nasty language you have there.

Anyhow, I'd grab a bowl with some berries (if any), find some ponds, come back and take 1-2 buckets, say "plant milkweed" and come back with full buckets. The bowl can stay there.

Next turn, cart of 4 (or 6) buckets, fill'em, ask some kids to "go find iron when grown up and we're good".

Although it seems like your town was built with a griefer (having no oil, usually oil is at generation 6..10) or especially bad location. But still, you can do a lot with ponds, they refill some every 12 minutes now. So, one of the runs with cart should be done with doing bowls only-most people do plates so you also should burn'em yourself or they'll be turned to useless plates.

Not sure I'm correct, but to best of my knowledge that's what I would've done-never /die'd but once (mother asked), usually live to 60 even alone in wilds. Or if Jason checks, maybe to 55 wink

Edit: hope is best resource, even one kid who knows what he's doing is very powerful.
Edit2: or it was too many RP'ers town, eh

#21 Re: Main Forum » Disability representation in OHOL » 2019-06-24 01:42:04

Yup, thought so.

#22 Re: Main Forum » Suggestion: Add a feature to block being force-fed by other people » 2019-06-24 01:35:13

It is a problem, usually I do not want to be fed. There is not always a possibility where I kill a griefer, and ppl feeding me is annoying as I may not have time to say "do not feed me plz".

Well, suggested tick-box said up, it can be as easily modified in-game by saying "want fed" or such, in case of emergency. Same to toggle it away, native English speakers can get better short sentence. Players not playing much wouldn't even know such option existed, and it's not usually needed. However it annoys a lot when you get fed out of your 14+ yum. Also it would help when killing griefers-I'd feel much better when I knew there's way I'd not be inadverently(sry thought that was a word? Like, accidentally?) grieved by someone force-feeding me.

#23 Re: Main Forum » Post screenshots of: You getting married in one hour one life » 2019-06-24 01:21:22

Also no screenshot, I am not much of RP'er (kind of against mostly since they take RP way too seriously) and he courted me for some years, coming blushing out of nowhere with some yum every now and then... As ppl know from discord I'm a shy one, so after couple of years I was shy bride. He asked if I wanted public or private wedding, I stated private but one year from now - it was just when property fences came.

So, we told our wows in our newly-constructed area north of town, I showed where sheep pen-to-be for four sheep and one area for cow were. We had stuff to do, so spent little time together, he did see our first daughter about two years later though, but I lost him somewhere (it was time before new habsburgh-kind world:"marry only-in-family", so I don't remember his name or such, nor do I have any image). As only marriage (I've declined to three others, some before some other both male and female, also they didn't bring me rose or yum though I did not ask for any) it lingers in my mind.

I had one girlfriend when I played male though, fed her for couple of years when she went to coma but finally gave up on her-I'd have everyone do same to me, as I have in my last will also.

Still to this day I haven't seen image of the area I prepared for us, pond in north middle part of our property served as only witness afaik. Anyhow, just wanted to share, some non-RP'ers are not totally against it sometimes when it doesn't affect to what we do otherwise. If fam remembers, I told all our kids, even decade later, that do not build door, for us everyone is welcome, and showed places (including small sheep pen, never got a cow myself there though). It was wild time so probably nobody survived to tell the tale.

#24 Re: Main Forum » Punishment Zone » 2019-06-23 17:12:06

(this another issue so another post) - Fast'n cheap possibilities:

Cursing using mouse pointer (well, lag might be issue, but probably not-your client sends what your client sees hence cursing that ok).

Cursing using statement "curse murderer" -when you're hit with arrow or stabbed or such, will curse that person and say name in-game. Problems: at least snowball (if it doesn't kill any more), possibly others. Could define "curse my stabber" but then, you cannot curse while young. Cursing should (IMO as everything) be possible after, say, 3 years of life.

Marking cursed person (in addition to other consequences) with red aura for about 30(?) minutes of his in-game-time so others know to be careful next to this individual - after all irl you'll unconsciously see someone's hiding nasty stuff (well unless they're habitual mass murderer or spy or such).

I don't presume to even hazard how to change cursing effects... Besides having maybe one hour of DT/one curse removed from you per 30 hours or playingtime-that 30hrs (or whatever) would be decent since nobody plays that much without getting cursed. And also a problem, since killers of griefing player often gets cursed. I've always stayed next to griefing person and explained, I've been accepted about 90% of time, sometimes killed never been cursed. Not that I'm good at detecting griefers or playing either. (exception: another family suddenly killed my fam as team-effort:-yes I saw- I grew up from 3yo to older, planned and killed that other fam's all females, same they did to my fam). That game would probably not have marked me as griefer, got only one curse, by a female who wasn't even born when my fam was killed, I did not have enough time to explain it all to her. Anyone's interested, I killed Tea fam.

#25 Re: Main Forum » Punishment Zone » 2019-06-23 16:54:20

I support pein ofc, but perma-ban isn't option in games eula. So DT can be used for the purpose of "almost perma-ban".

Also I'm against 5-ppl team once, it should be at least one warning. Also, someone'd need to check how many marks any single person makes, if marks everyone else he sees there's not much value to his markings, but if he makes, say, once a week/once every 10 hours ingame...

I thought client records all actions hence playback is possible (modded clients just don't playback well ((Edit:re-read, pein did say this))). But another can of worms, to pick that up from someone's computer-or to rely it is unchanged, nope. Server would have to record every action and remove them after one hour unless flagged (and I can see some griefers flagging every player as another way of griefing). So that would be large amount of data. But not hard to code I'd say.

But not seeing anything like this happening for a while, besides if you're doing diesel during several lives you can be seen hiding parts of engine (so they're safe until you continue) etc etc... Anyhow, I don't see a viable system.
