Agreed. I'd get rid of that immediately

I just took a moment to think about how huge this game could've been if all the people, who genuinly enjoyed it, wouldn't have left out of frustration. The most i've seen on server reflect is 100-120 players at a given time, for like half a year now. The least being like 30 in the rift age. It could've easly been a several thousands.

I remember I was playing it a few times at my parents' house and my little 9yo brother was watching me. And he was asking to play. He had watched some youtube videos of it, so he thought he could've handled it. Normally i let him play stuff like modded minecraft or don't starve and i like when he enjoys it. But i couldn't bring myself to let him play OHOL, because i knew that it wouln't been fun for him. He'd just get stabbed for no reason or get kidnapped and starved. And he'd come to hate this game. It's such a beautiful game but he'd turn away from it 'cause of dumb shit like that.

Can we have an F for all the experienced players who left 'cause of greifing and also a hugeass F for thousands of new players who could've enjoyed OHOL and maybe created wonders in it, if they hadn't quit <24 hours in 'cause of all the frustrating stuff piled on new players, such as dumb killing and senseless cursing, but also hate on berrymunchin and, huge, unintuitive tech curve (that one has pretty much no way of exploring without using outside-the-game info or having someone teaching them and nobody got time or patience to teach noobs over and over), sense of disorientation that the vanilla client gives and lots of dumb shit such as anger at them for taking stuff from the floor or from eating berries 'cause they dunno what a pie is?

Goddemn am i depressed now.
Also... fucking necros.

Good for you lil trooper! I suppose pointless people will say pointless things.

I agree with you 100%. I love building long roads and that's how I do it

I love making graveyards and special graves for my mother and Grandma's. It's a really special pay off the game to me and I always ask a child to bury me with them. They always get dug up. So sad...

Why not keep track of players who serial kill and get cursed, and keep them in limbo. The more they murder, the longer they stay. Like donkey town x5

#10 Re: Main Forum » Lonstanding Problem: Unrealistic Characters » 2019-12-03 18:18:12

I think they're just there for us "old timers" to remember the good old days lol. I love seeing them

Agree!!

#12 Re: Main Forum » Not very accessible for new players » 2019-11-25 16:52:50

The way I learned the most is by watching. I would get a bowl of berries and just go watch someone doing what I wanted to learn. Sometimes they'd figure out I was learning and teach me but observing is best for me to learn.

My last life I noticed my mom watching me and following me, grinding away at a very large milkweed farm. (We had no clothes or buckets). I was just like...ok... When I was done she said "awesome! Now I know how to do that!" Lol. I hadn't realized she was new.

A fire was one of the most daunting things for me to learn, kind of like how I'm currently learning to make newcomen stuff. I'm thinking "I'll never remember all this". But I can EASILY and quickly make a fire and the tools needed from scratch. You'll learn too! I'm one of those that tries to save a town because I see idiots role playing while sheep pens crumble. I can't teach a kid because I have to hurry. I just say "watch".

Most players are cool. But as it's been mentioned before, we have to focus so intently at what we're doing because right before you guys came, everything was made much more tedious and difficult thanks to some dumb ass updates -_- Hang in there! After reading all this I'll try to remember, it's just a game. I'll teach my noob kids all I can. We were all brand new at one point. It's a really fun game and we need more vet players

Essentially, here's what this game is:  A collective roguelike.
By "collective," I mean that the "player" playing the game isn't an individual person, but a whole group of people working together and spread over many hours and generations.
The "player" in this game is a village or family line.  The death or failure condition is when the village or family line dies out.  The village is the organism.

And yet, your romanticized gameplay appears contrary:

In my last life, I was experimenting with building a private piece of land to have food for just my offspring, to see how that helped my gene score.

I completely failed at what I was attempting to do in this life.

BUT, I made mistakes along the way, and learned a lot for next time.  My fence was too close to the town center, I should have recruited someone to help guard it before I left to look for supplies, I should have explained myself better to this nosy woman from the town, and so on.

Consider me the nosy woman from the town.
How is private property supposed to help your gene score?
How is private property supposed to align with the success of the “collective?”

What is your game, really?

Yeahhhhh.... Has he reset the map yet? It's going to continue being a cluster f until then. I've played a few loves just to give it a chance and I'm not impressed. The map should have been wiped first ffs. Also, I can't believe I'm saying this... But for THIS stupid update, the rift should come back *dies inside*

Pleaseeeeee Jason. Get rid of this update and work on more content!

So I just played a few lives in the new update and a couple of suggestions outside of bug fixes

1) Make Gingers have temp bonus in arctic, so arctic biome isn't as cold for them.
2) Make Brown immune to yellow fever... I thought they might be so I killed myself with mosquitoes accidentally... lol
3) Make Brown have lower temp in jungle than other skin types
4) Make Black have lower temp in desserts

Or maybe just flat temp bonus to gingers and temp minus to black and brown

You mean we all still have the same temps???? How TF are black people supposed to survive in the jungle with no way to get rabbits asap? And mosquitos??

I hope I'm mistaken because this seems extremely stupid

I like perk zone idea as opposed to the rest. It's going to completely change the game and be severely limiting

#22 Re: Main Forum » Coming Soon: Family Specialization » 2019-11-15 02:32:32

That's it. I fucking quit. At least I had a good last week to play without the last dumb ass idea ruining everything. This is just a load of horse shit! So more people don't end up quitting, try adding new content and stop controlling every damn thing we do!!!

Screw you, Dodge. Just because YOU haven't been able to build any bonds with other players in the game doesn't mean your experience is universal. I like roleplaying with family, and as it turns out, most people enjoy that. I have had countless children live with me for entire lives and it was fucking great. I've had brothers and sisters I went on adventures with. So quit your bullshit about there being apparently no social interaction in the game. That's just you, not trying.

Exactly. I've had mom's and grandma's that were so great I made sure I buried them in pretty spots, put roses on their graves and had my kids bury me there with them.

Yeah yeah Dodge, a waste of iron. You probably kill noob babies for eating a pie

I lovvvvvvveeeee WBSteve!! I've watched all his videos like 10 times and I'm in one too lol. I'm the person bitching that he doesn't help. He says "I'll help", I say thanks and he picks a berry, puts it in a bowl, eats it and says "there". I call him a dick lol
