This is amazing.  The matching screenshot/ story takes it over the top.  11/10

If I remember correctly snakes move up to five spaces (Maybe six I know at least five.) Good luck surrounding a single snake with that much clutter though.

Okay... imagine a teleporter with a snake trapped inside of it by clutter.  Are you with me so far?  Now someone goes to pick up a piece of the clutter... and the snake automatically paths to the only open tile!  You could make a booby trap.

Please don't spam any one food.

food multiplier is king.

i think its funny the amount of wood you probably went through spamming eggs. with out realizing it will hurt your economy later.

That's ridiculous.  You do know that for every egg you cook the fire timer resets?  You only need one kindling to cook eggs as long as you keep spamming them.

please eat in an order close to this, and you will find your self consuming a lot less berries (alot less food in general), which in turn will save water, and allow your economy to be stronger.

popcorn
berry by hand
berry from bowl
onion
wild carrot
carrot
shucked corn
Burdock
Yuca
carrot pie
rabbit pie
stew
egg
etc the list goes on

mix the multiplier with perfect temperature tile, Easy game.

This is completely off topic.  I'm asking what the food stats mean http://onehouronelife.com/foodStats.php .  Stop spamming the same freaking post all over the forums.

If your interpretation is correct then this discrepancy could probably be explained by wasteful eaters. The number of pips would be lower every time someone overeats that food.

I thought this at first but i think its unlikely.  Some foods are 100% the expected value... I find it unlikely no one is overeating omelettes.

#7 Re: Main Forum » How to interpret food stats » 2018-07-26 20:24:18

Cooked mutton is always exactly the value you would expect.  It seems some foods are always right and others are messed up.

What do the two columns mean?

I take it the first one is number of bites of that food eaten and the second is the number of pips?  But sometimes the number of pips exactly matches the expected value for the food and sometimes its off.  Whats going on here?

I think we've established that stew is a fun RP food that has it's place in the mid-late game (around the time of pie production) and that foraging wild foods is preferable to berries pre-steel.

Wild food is preferable, but I still think ~9 berry bushes can make a big difference for yum and kids.  Obviously you should rush tools, and if you are/have great players you don't need it.  But for mere mortals, I still think berries are a good idea.  The eve doesn't even need to do it, young children can set this up easily.

Yes.  You don't choose your genetics, but you absolutely should be able to choose your style.

Don't assume people with weapons are griefing. Someone with a knife out? They could be butchering sheep. Or passing it down to the next generation.

1) Only pull your knife in the sheep pen or next to rouge sheep.
2) Walk one screen away and give it to the person in relative isolation.  Pulling and then dropping a knife in the middle of town is asking for someone unintended to run up and grab it.

If you are pulling your knife in these contexts you should be fine.

Yeah if you ask first and they run off after saying they will stay that's bad.

But I've definitely suicided after getting hair and actually seeing the place.  I try to stay at that point, but if the location is really bad then I don't want to waste my time.

#15 Re: Main Forum » Favorite Job? » 2018-07-20 15:05:42

I like making buckets.  I grow the milkweed myself some where far off if I can.  Getting boards and disks is easy in a developed town.

I like making pies, especially mutton and rabbit.  It clears up the by-products of other things + feeds people.

I like building, but almost near do it.

Hi sc0p, I was Mars http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=628067 .  I assume it was to you I gave my pack and knife to.  I remember thinking, "Wow this town is really organized, no one has stolen all my sheep carrots."  Then as a aged, I realized it was because there were no children sad

Lotus- I distinctly remember you saying something about Zubin being new when he cut all the wheat.  I had no context and didn't think much of it.  Thank you for sharing your story smile

Just think of it as some babies die young because of illness.  They are more likely to catch that illness if they are born into crappy conditions.

Sorry, but no one can force me to play.  You can only bribe me into playing by setting up a decent camp.

They do if you feed them unshorn.  It's just in every possible way inferior to feeding lamb.

I didnt know that, thats really cool!
I still think its a bad trade.

I'm not seeing the transition for this.  I don't think unshorn domestic sheep can be fed.

I watched maxmcktv stream on twitch tonight.

I recorded when he got noticeable bounces.  All times are pacific.

10:12pm
10:16pm
10:23pm (connection lost)
10:29pm
10:42pm
11:41pm (minor bouncing)

it was no where near as bad as previous nights thanks to the server1 switchout.  but i believe there's still some issues.

someone was running around a town today with a knife and no backpack cutting all the wheat.

i was 90% sure he was greifing.

i told him not to cut all the wheat.  that we needed the seeds.  I stood toe to toe with this guy and he had a freakin knife out.

he legit apologized and dropped the knife (which i grabbed and backpacked right away).  apparently he was new.  well that's what he said anyway.

Keep all your children and get stabbed of course.

To be honest I had a life where I was born over and over to a mum as a boy, just to be abandoned.  When I was born as a girl she called me Hope and told me I was her only kid, so I ran and bear-ed out of shear meanness.  It felt good.

Yeah I do feel you on this one.  I disagree with the whole "girls are better than boys" thing.  Sure if you are in very specific circumstances that's true.  But most of the time boys make the best worker bees.

Still, I don't think its advisable to keep all your kids most of the time.  Too many mouths starves everyone.

#23 Re: Main Forum » apocalypse town » 2018-07-19 02:31:09

It was dead yesterday.  I spawned into it as an eve and it was all decayed.  Only old packs and old baskets.

I tried to repopulate but my fam died 3 gen.  sad  http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=603530

I spawned in as an eve AGAIN before my first family died out and was promptly snake bitten.

The town wasn't in bad shape.  There we still green trees only ~4 screens south.  There were a couple uneaten pies and plenty of berries.  Only a little soil but no baskets to spread it.  I planted some wheat in some already tilled rows and my daughter was making compost when i died.

I loved that town.  I hope someone else finds it.

Wow, that must ave been a fascinating world before the Apocalypse! I hope we'll get there again. Decay is a good thing though, if things lasts forever it's easy to get to the point where the game is too easy and boring. I hope Jason adds more content so we can advance into ancient/egypt/rome/greek cultures/times or maybe even medieval times.

Well the game is set in the future so we won't have to too advance slowly.  We skipped straight to steel, we might skip straight to other technologies assuming we can make the tools to make them.
