I play any life I get. I have fun with Eve's, big cities, small cities or even alone. Even if its the only life I get to play for a month.
Suicidal babies have turned me away from the game because its very frustrating.
I played today 1 life. Hadn't played in a week.
I was 4th generation of wildlings and I was a girl. My grandma and mother were great.
My sons and daughter were suicidal babies.
5 in a row!
Guess where the lineage ended.
So yeah.
+1 to any system that avoids suicidal babies.
ANY

Yeah that was probably me
It was really creepy, you gave your clothes to her and said "You're my future wife" xD
A little girl once asked me for my next male child to be her husband.
I gave it to her.
I honestly think it should stay the way it is because it feeds to the realism. But like stated before there should be a system where if there are people around someone who JUST murdered someone, an icon should appear above them (bloody skull). kind of like a witness system.
I like this idea.

I wonder if there is some other bug causing broken connections, though.
Since Sunday I only had one, but had actually died. Just instead of the real cause (bear I think) it said connection lost.
spawn as baby typing 6
spawn as Eve typing 666
I've seen this.
A baby spawns saying 6 and walking around.
Drops when you pick them up and don't say anything else.
Meh Apocalypse isn't fun.

thats why Jason´s new update will be creating a psychology center
A bit early in "History" for psychology centers. But if we could burn them or stone them to death that would be about right.
And that was also that time when Damon was strong enough to hold the bow in his hands. He took bow and arrow and came to me, always saying "mom" "mom" "mom". I had my third child in my arms, who didn't even had a name yet, and tried to keep in motion because my guts told me to keep running or else he will kill me. He will kill his own mother. But I didn't wanted to overreact, maybe he wanted to hunt some goose or wolf, who knows.
But I made a mistake. I should have taken the bow and kill him when I had the chance because as soon as I stopped to eat a carrot and name my newborn child, that's when he shot me. I can still hear his hateful voice yelling "die" "die" "die"
That's one sad story.
Damon was a psycho!
I keep all babies in the wild and even when in the city (if he is not wanted), I try to go out and raise them wild.
It's easy to survive if you just keep moving (specially in the desert) and finding sources of food, and after they pick stuff up, I just leave them by some bushes.
I hate to be born in a town were a 12 year old is saying to kill babies. That's when I commit in-game suicide.
I also hate babies who say F but then after I feed and name them run away without a word to die. There was once one that explained (letter by letter) before leaving. That was cool.
Also just to make my point. I will never kill myself. You will ear me cry until my last breath and you will have to pick my bones from the farm if you want to put that basket down.
At this point I think the problem isn't the decay system but that so many people get randomly disconnected all the time.
Agree.
I don't think its random
I keep trying just to die at 14 or 43.
Most posts I've read say they die at around those ages to.
I don't even care about decay any more.
I just want to live a full life without having a sudden heart attack.
my count starting now :
male, middle age, met a second settlement - CL
male, 13 - CL
Eve, 44, several kids, many starved, survived mostly on cactus, two teenage sons - CL- - -
I've had death by lost connection about 10 times since yesterday and its always at around 14 or 43 years.
Other post I've read say the same thing.
Players are dying at those same ages.
Weird...
@jasonrohrer
Same here. 2 more deaths of connection lost at 43 years.
It's better than at 14 but still sucks.
the decay rate should be reduced if items are placed indoors. That way you can store things for later use, without having to make everything as needed.

I was born to an Eve. I was a boy.
She picked me up and started searching for food.
I was happy she didn't let me die.
After a while a bell rang.
My mother asked - "You heard that?"
"Yes" - I replied.
Then my mother started running East. Always East.
We crossed deserts and ice, dodged bears and wolfs.
We walked for many moons. I had grown along the way, and my mother had grey hair.
When we finally arrive to our destination, there is a person to receive us with pies and clothes.
We give our baskets with cacti fruit. It was all we had.
We started to live in the city then. I helped in the farm and my mother took to being a baker.
When I became an adult I met a girl with no relation. We started talking and decide to get married.
It was great. We went a little bit North and started building a small house (It was a wooden floor, but it was a house to us).
We start gathering food while I helping around the farm and my old mother baking pies.
Soon the babies started popping. We had one girl and one boy. I built a fire to keep the babies warm.
We named the girl after my mother and the boy after me.
One day I decide to leave the farm and become a wolf hunter to get my son and daughter some cool hats.
The farmer agreed, since we had carrots and pies to spare.
I started packing a cart when my wife came to me and told me we couldn't be together any more.
"WHY?" - I asked
"I just don't feel it any more"
Then I died.
A connection had been lost.
I don't see how the way it is right now could offend anyone. Maybe a way in the settings to disable it easier could be included.
I must say that im not a big fan off the hairy nipples in the first picture since that is a bit much. but the way its in the game now is fine, I mean come on we all have one or the other anyway. It shouldnt be a taboo to look at something that vaguely looks like a penis/vagina and tits.

It does seem like ranching can be a valid approach though. What do people think?
I still haven't work much with sheep, but your logic seems correct.
Siolfor the Jackal wrote:To the dumb horse-riding queen and her dumb son, Oliver.
All you did was ride around calling us peasants and occasionally murder us for no good reason. I'm glad some killed you. You sucked.
Oliver killed my mother, Joy. Said she murdered someone but I know she didn't so I'm glad I killed you to avenge her. That’s not a very nice thing to say, peasant!
Long live the revolution! Down with the queen!
Lily wrote:Maybe cities need to build a school and have full time teachers. Elderly people retired from working other jobs, and a younger mom who can feed the children.
This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. How on earth would you coordinate such a thing with the in-game communication system?
I had an idea about this.
The idea was to have babies in an enclosed space, inside, that led to an enclosed space outside (I'm describing a real school).
The babies would stay inside with 2 moms taking care of the babies, and eachother (turns getting baskets of food) and giving basic rules.
When you grow a little more and are able to pick up stuff, you are sent outside (to the enclosure) where you had to make your clothes, for example.
When you got to teen you can leave, have clothes you made, know the rules and where stuff is.
It would help to teach and control population and you don't need much communication to make work. Only some repetition.
Like my mom said to me, and me to my babies and they to theirs - "Only pick fruiting milkweed"
If enough people start to be born in this spaces it becomes institutionalized, like everything that works.
Although this is just for the most advanced cities that have granaries and tool sheds.
I think the bell is a last resort for when there are no women.
It would also be good for a school, or a church to the mighty Mushroom God.
The walls take 5 generations to start cracking. And they can be fixed after that. That's a long time.
I fixed the hoe. An update is going live with that change.
Also, servers were crashing. That has been fixed. The change is going live right now.
Thank you Jason.
Great game.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
Decay is a good idea, but I think it should work on a much longer timescale

Jason also included stone walls which I think, don't decay.
Maybe there is a plan of adding better objects which don't decay so fast, in the future.
For now, if you want a city to last, build out of stone maybe?
It is happening to some people at least, me included. Jason is probably already aware of it.
Check the known bugs section.
It happened twice to me today. At around ages 12 and 14 for no apparent reason.
third at 14.
there will be signs added to the game. that might help alot. depending on how much you can write on a sign you could maybe make a library building of sorts
By what I've seen so far, the systems for education used on large towns could be improved, but signs would help make education a lot easier.
