The game is truly inspirational for some wacky adventures and tales indeed.

Your story is wonderful I was engaged reading it.
Just make sure, if you do make more posts relating to the story (which is perfectly fine, especially if it takes a lot of time between to write them), to properly link them so people can navigate to them easier.

With art, I always figured out that you can go about slaving yourself physically to exertion to see improvement.
But the biggest jumps in quality and excellence were when one didn't draw for months...

#4 Re: Main Forum » The game is it really at its best state? » 2020-05-24 08:33:50

I would say no. It's not at it's best state.
It's mostly about mechanics that are persisting still to this day like restrictions.
However the TLC and bugfixes so far have been good, they just don't outweight the rest of the stuff.

#5 Re: Main Forum » Started a B R E E D I N G Program » 2020-05-19 06:50:23

Haha, that sounds like quite a tale to tell smile

This a great TLC update ^^ .

#7 Re: Main Forum » As many food recipes as available, as many recipes as you can think of » 2020-05-10 14:21:27

We could use some recipes with grapes!

Grape jam!

In a crock pot add three grapes, stomp with stomper. Put the crockpot on hot coals, while it's cooking add sugar and stir with a skewer.

hEY. Don't diss my dandelions, they're great springtime foods.
You can made quite a great salad with early dandelions and some potato mash, an egg, add some oil and vinegar. Salt it. Ta-da.
A rather amazing tasting salad.

OH this is nice!
I wonder if this will also make us able to make cookies or nut rolls in the future?

One day, one day I will finish my CANDYLAND mod, then fences will be candy canes.

Thank you for the kind words guys!
I wish I had more time to actually write down the story, but I've told it so many times, it's definitely one of my favourites lol.

Also, the life was really boring for the first 16 minutes and was mostly stagnant thereafter.

The best life I ever had belonged to Rose Apple.

Now now morti, no need to be like that or have such a higher than thou attitude, and claiming such an insignificant aspect of live us the lowestof pleasure.
Plenty of ideas slowly evolve and resurface again and again in the spotlight, and I don't think anyone will go foul over such.

Took some two hours? WHAT.
Last time I was this fast I was suffering bipolar in academic life.

Enjoy Selina Pizza. The blood queen.

Selina's early life was muddy, but she remembers bountiful berry bushes and her uncle who took good care of her.
But life was not always this good. One day came a familiar face to the father and daughter pair.
Mama?
It was mama, she took Selina smiling, happy to have her daughter back, the father was none the wiser.

But the joy was short-lived. Selina was locked into a prison tower with her younger sister and brother. All were heirs to the throne of this village, yet only one would rule.
The children were to battle once they were old enough.
Selina as the oldest acted quickly and hid all weapons. There will be no slaughter, her siblings will not die.
Her mother and aunt watched them eagerly in their prison home.

Yet her iron will was not shared by her siblings. Both committed suicide when Selina was well into her teenage years.
Freedom was bittersweet, yet the young girl gave birth to her firstborn. She would remain trapped until she was the only one.
Saddened, she would not be able to put a knife to her own child, never, she resorted to something else.
But she leaned to the newborn baby and whispered.
"please sleep"
And the baby died.

Now free, Selina Swore to rule the village with an iron will.
And her captors, her mother and aunt swore loyalty to her, the new queen. The blood queen.

Her first order was...
Mother, Aunt. Battle to death.
As the two elderly women sparred, Selina gave birth to her third and first surviving child.
Born in the throes of battle, death and life. Her mother was victorious and Selina named her son Kratos.
And bathed him in the blood of his relatives.

She later gave birth to a daughter, Aabha, she was sad, always sad, but she was the heiress to the throne.
But Selina was unhappy, anger boiled in her blood, the village was in ruin, there was no iron.

Together, the two women took a boy from the village to sacrifice to the god of iron. Then they returned to the village with the boy's corpse and sent the many of the male youth out on adventure to find new iron.

Then Selina died.
RIP

lol morti.

Honestly, my second home is the sea. You don't even need to swim in it for it to be real. Just the infinite scary blue expanse that says. You are safe here, do not go forward would be enough for me.
Anything, anything that would confine this world and give it bounds.
You will never get lost, the river will guide you, the water will turn you around.

Just an offshoot idea regarding risk and reward. It's something that has been on my mind for a bit.

A river mini-biome that is a straight impassable line. Vertical or horizontal, it has a beginning in a spring and it ends in a pond or sinkhole.
It would have varying lengths, some being really short, others being really long. Perhaps they also bend? Creating unique features the otherwise predictable landscape does.

Risk and reward
You can't get water from the river with a bowl, you'll just get a splashed bowl instead of the water since it's so fast-moving. So that won't do.
So how do you use it?

The river floods one tile left and right from it, meaning there is a one tile belt around the river which gets flooded. The land there is fertile and ripe for planting. Since it's next to a river it gets automatically irrigated, meaning you don't have to water it and only need to expand soil and tools on it.

Sounds too good, but here comes the risk. The river periodically floods, washing away the planted crops and rows into a blank slate. (or perhaps it turns all rows into soggy rows, the river variant of a hardened row)
Most plants take 5-ish minutes to grow and two more minutes to be harvestable. Every ten minutes, the river floods for 1-4 minutes, destroying whatever crops you left behind, regardless of their growth state. The water does not take anything else that's not planted in soil.

You will have to be mindful of how many crops you can plant and harvest, if you overextend yourself, you will be wasting resources. And of course, cooperation between multiple people is key this time around if you want to reap a maximum harvest out of a single flood period.

-With this timing, I wonder how the berry bush will fare...
-I have a feeling griefers would dump and till all soil around a river to waste it, but if it turned into a 'hardened row' after flooding it would be easier to just cart the soil away and honestly, I've never seen any person grief a town that way lol so...
-Value of soil, water and iron will get a knock since water is overvalued right now.
-The river could benefit from an 'overflowing' period one or two minutes before it floods as a warning. And maybe a minute long 'dry' period one or two minutes after flooding.
-This is mostly because of how Amon thought keeping crops in their rows was silly with no 'planting' periods and no 'harvest' periods, especially with zero crop failure. You just plant it and leave it and return to it when you need it.

Natural barrier and orientation point
Go north to the river, then go west and cross the second bridge and you'll be home.

With a variable nature, it could prove as a nice border between towns/villages and serve as an important landmark between them.
But of course, it should not be absolute. What about building bridges across a river?

Expanding work
An expansive project like a watermill or a saw would be absolutely bonkers to have. You sacrifice one of three tiles of fertile land to ground stuff or have a longlasting saw.
It probably shouldn't work while it's flooding and some maintenance after long periods of usage would need to exist. Like replacing the saw and the like.
It should be perfect and allow room for better options down the line.

Expanding fishing
Perhaps you can fish in it. With the fish fished different depending on the biome you fish it in. This would leave us with three exclusive fish for each speciality biome race but also four more fish for yum.

As they go:
Bream for the artic. Gamitana for the jungle. Nile perch or tilapia for the desert.
Grayling for grasslands. Common carp for the swamp. Grundling for mountains. Mooneye or catfish or freshwater sunfish for the plains.

Whites
This would need to toss the fishing idea out if only white people could operate the river. Or maybe it's an exception and they can still fish in other biomes lol.
If they have nothing useful to grind from the oil grind, give them fishcake. I'm still not a fan of race restrictions, but hell. Why not.

#19 Re: Main Forum » Been a while but can I make a suggestion? about this iron you see..... » 2020-04-05 08:51:09

I feel it with Destiny.
You should be working for a bit and then go on a big lunch break. It feels more real and elegant than gorge yourself constantly on food.
Hell, maybe people will start making yum lunch stations nearby.

Blocking someone for a few hours isn´t strong enough to make serial griefers not to shit everywhere.

Keep in mind you can get enough curses 1 curses in a month and if they're from active players you're booted off the game. A few hours really seems fair if it's such as a small comeuppance.
A serial griefer would obviously rack up a lot more curses in a short span of time, no?

I don't grief, but I think going all nuclear ham on the most minor of issues ain't right either.

#21 Re: Main Forum » Is curse blocking too powerful with the homeland, iron, Eve changes? » 2020-04-04 17:45:29

Well, the thing is.
The noose is too tight, and if i'm not mistaken (from all the changes cursing went through).
three curses will get you booted for 30 days (or however long those personalized curses last now)
I'd rather see one booted for a few hours rather than a month off the game, provided the people that cursed are active all the time.
You can rack up a one or two curses just by existing or through a mistake.
It's a very NARROW margin of error.

Destroying, yes.

But if you plan to disassemble anything, especially for the purpose of recycling it... no.
No.
I've disassembled scrap computers and printers before for recycling, repurposing parts and to trash the rest. It's not an easy two-step process.

And you certainly shouldn't be able to just hammer it off and it's 'done'.
Maybe if you disassembled it first and then scrap each piece, then you put in enough time worth to even compare.
Plus you'd get your rubber belt back.

#23 Re: Main Forum » This is a Form of the Chaos You Asked For, Enjoy It » 2020-03-30 10:14:00

One day I'll need to write a rant on the post-race restriction updates.

Hate the sin not the sinner, so they say. And I agree.
But this is really the point where all these ham-fisted updates stacked over each other have finally accumulated in this level of brokenness.
At this stage we're just parents watching the kid touch the hot stove after telling em a thousand times not to. And what can you do? You still love the damn toddler either way.

Villages not trading their essentials is not and never was an issue to begin with.
Race restriction limits the game more than open it up for new possibilities.
The speciality markers are ugly and not immersive. I suggested having dogs 'sniff out' the other races to give them a use and have a more 'realistic' feeling while searching for other people than just click a stone that litters the map.
There were BETTER, a lot more FLEXIBLE and NATURAL feeling proposals for assimilation of other races than the goddamn 'homeland' update. (Just think about all the possibilities for storytelling with this)
Iron prospecting was so fun and brought forth inequality for villages. Some were iron-rich, others were iron-poor. Now everyone is almost in the same situation. Guh.

And these lines, are we gonna stick every resource in a predictable place now? Is exploration not sacred anymore?
Is everything going to be the same now? Is everything going to be static now? Where is the once praised fluidity and freedom that shaped these absolutely unbelievable stories people experienced in OHOL all the time.

#24 Re: Main Forum » Update broken cant get more iron » 2020-03-29 09:55:26

Honestly, I still think bottlenecking an important resource is a piss poor way to encourage caring.
I'd rather see niche/rare resources get boonified to a village rather than essentials.
Imagine if a village had surplus gold, everyone would be wearing crowns. Or surplus lapis lazuli, all houses are blue houses!
Maybe the two will trade, who knows.

A really big issue of 'making iron rarer is' should we really make iron rarer?
