I hope we can someday get to a point where we can deal with people in game in ways other than killing them.

Yeah, it has occurred to me that more non-lethal combat could actually be helpful.
As it is now, it's as though even non-griefers are like, "oh, my sister/nephew/cousin/whatever stole my basket, looks like I have a valid reason to get out my knife and stab them," or if they don't have a knife or bow they'll devote the rest of their life to making one to take revenge.

It would probably be healthier if such disagreements could be solved with a bit of a usually-harmless fistfight... and that would lay a framework for unrepentant griefers being mobbed and killed.
I don't know, I'm just musing here. It seems to me like the game needs less combat, not more, but apparently that's not an option - and besides, as long as there is no way to ban griefers (or restrict their server access, which is the solution I prefer) you need to be able to kill them somehow.

What happens if somebody else removes your marker and then you hear the bell?  Or you hear the bell with active marker and then somebody removes your marker?

Maybe this is what happened to me. Makes markers pretty unreliable in any event... if you ask me, one should be able to claim a marker by touching it.

It's cool that you can't just be like flour + water = bread.  Because that's just not true to life.

I mean, you could always make damper!

This is pretty much exactly what I thought of last night.
It's a good way to get around the whole "lifetime server account" thing preventing people from being entirely banned.
(I would probably allow decent people access to the server, too, though, for times when they are feeling masochistic or want to blow off some steam.)

Now, all we need is a way to implement such a strategy without massively increasing Jason's workload...

Also, if the tutorial doesn't include repeated deaths by starvation in the middle of a barren wasteland, what is really the point?

Sorry, Eve Freeberg. I was your daughter, Twila.
I had high hopes for us and was looking forward to making a go of it, but then my connection dropped. We did make a start, though - I hope your other daughters have better internet than I!

Hahaha oh, obviously you'd be able to spawn as second gen, that would be ridiculous otherwise.

Besides, I don't see you offering any suggestions. There absolutely needs to be something done about the way things are now, after all.
Playing in towns gets boring as shit pretty quickly, but anything else ends up being basically singleplayer because 9/10 eve-born babies promptly top themselves.

Putting a mad idea out there (crazy I know), how about you have to earn the right to spawn in long family lines.
EG your first life will be an eve, if you live to old age (50+) you can then spawn as baby of an eve, live to old age you can spawn as the 3rd gen etc etc.. notice is said CAN, if there are no 3rd gens you will spawn in a lower one. Every life you die between the ages of let's say 14 and 40, you then go down a generation.
I know this won't work and totally is against the scope of the game but it was fun thinking about it, kinda makes a leveling system and long lines would be more pro players and what not.

Oooh, personally I kinda like this idea. There's definitely potential there!

I've had several lives in that city today, haha!
The last one was pretty great, had a buttload of kids and grandkids and when I died food production seemed to be getting back on track. Big settlements like that tend to drive me insane with the clutter, though.

I don't get how the city was so advanced at only gen 8, We descended from an Eve that died at 17.....

From what I've read on the forums it was an old, abandoned city that our family occupied. Certainly a lot better than the last ruined city situation I was in, which was an absolute mess.

I was one of at least two people named Summer Storm... that got a bit confusing but oh well. My immediate family was pretty great!
Though I bet you fifty berries that escaped boars are what eventually finishes the town off.
