Man, I'm tired of repeating myself.

"PVP mechanics" are not in this game for no reason.  They are necessary to prevent griefing.  You have to be able to kill people in order to enforce rules in your village.  This is true in real life as well.  The police have the power to kill you, eventually.  That is why the laws have meaning.

If I removed a "PVP mechainics" from the game, what would that mean?  How would you stop someone from grabbing your tool as soon as you set it down?  How would you stop someone from planting the wrong thing in your field?  How would you stop someone from opening your sheep pen and letting all the sheep out?  What about the guy who just follows you around spouting gibberish?

The idea that "PVP" means only "killing other players" is nonsense.  There are an infinite number of ways to bother other players.

And killing is the way that you can stop them.  A dead player can't steal your tools or free your sheep.

The only alternative, if I wanted to build a game with absolutely no PVP, is to have every single thing in the game "locked down" with full ownership.  If you plow it, only you can plant it.  Only you can open your sheep pen.  If you set down a tool, only you can pick it up.

That obviously sounds like a pretty horrible game, and it also makes little sense in the context of working together and passing on things to the next generation.  There would need to be a very fiddly and complicated permission and inheritance UI.... ugg...  And even then, there would still be griefing.... people chasing others around jabbering.  Unless I had full tresspassing rules hard-coded.... but anyway, that's not a very interesting game.

So yes, the intention was ALWAYS that people would kill trolls and griefers.  That's what the weapons are there for.  That's what we use weapons for in real life.

The one little wrinkle here is reincarnation.  We don't have that in real life.  That means the same damn griefer can keep bugging you, forever.  Death just isn't strong enough.

The curse system, and Donkey Town, are a way to balance this out.  A way to compensate for reincarnation.

I have never promised you that you could grief people endlessly, with no consequences.  I always expected that you would get murdered.  Now I expect that you will get cursed.

Give non lethal alternative to things that require knife currently

Past few updates have been subpar
Dogs that are useless
Trees that grow more than a century.
What next?
Mine for flat rocks that take millennium to construct? And another millennium to start harvesting?
Quick refference
Maple
Some trees are slow growers (20-30 years to reach full size) and some are fast (10-15 years). Red maple (Acer rubrum) is a moderately fast grower; given good growing conditions, it should put on 1-2 feet of growth per year once established.
Poplar

GROWTH PER YEAR:    8-10 ft
HEIGHT IN 3 YEARS:    30-40 ft
MATURE HEIGHT:    40-60 ft
Basically a weed

TlDr
Trees should not  take that long to grow

Id say make those plop out three more dogs when they bite someone that way you don't even need to feed those

#15 Re: Main Forum » Are there any dogs here? » 2018-09-14 23:12:26

Lets take care of clutter by making sure there are no tiles left to make clutter.

#16 Re: Main Forum » Just Thought it Should be Known » 2018-09-14 23:10:56

Yup there is no need for blood shed or hiding things or being obnoxious you just give everyone the 'gift' of dog apocalypse 2.0 is upon us. Grab them bowls of popcorn while you can as soon there will be no place to prep them.

#17 Re: Main Forum » Just Thought it Should be Known » 2018-09-14 22:11:33

I wouldn’t be opposed to having a temporary ban for players (maybe like a week) whose curse score reaches a certain height (ex. 50 curses) because you know the only thing they want to do is not cause saucy drama, but destroy other’s fun. In my opinion, just because they bought this game doesn’t mean they should be immune to punishment.

Griefing will not go away, but I think we should take more actions to restrain them instead of leaving it solely up to the players, who protect cursed babies and covet being cursed for the sake of being special.

I really do hope you actually do something more than just making a marked baby more noticeable otherwise this situation is not going to get better.

Well then dispatch of them then dispatch of the baby? No? Just me?

#19 Re: Main Forum » Still thinking about griefers. » 2018-09-12 16:43:01

I love pie making or getting to pie making asap that is my fave thing to do in this game as of late.
There is something deeply satisfying in it for me.
Making al those glorious wheat fields or some carrot patches for some quick and dirty pie.
Or stacks on stacks of plates.

What I like to call Eve Hell.

Basically it's when I get stuck with Eves and crappy towns for a whole session. It's usually when all the good towns have died out or I'm currently lineage blocked from them. I'll stay with a promising Eve but it's rare for me to find a good Eve that's willing to keep me.
Sometimes I try to turn them around but even with my efforts they usually die out after a generation.

The next thing is probably dying from lag or connection lost. Usually it starts off with my character humping every object for a bit before picking them up. Then the map not loading in. Sometimes you just suddenly lose connection without any prior lag. Sucks when it happens in a good life.

That connection lost seems to happen to me when i don't restart the game after death and just load in to another straight away.
That seems to be happening constant.
First life no problems second life about 20-30 mins in sure enough DC.
