Suggestion For Reworking Storage

The problem with this games storage is the stupidly large tile size that only ONE item can be placed on.  However, this could be reworked in order to allow for more room more rationally.  What if. . . Each tile was split into Nine sections, like this (Link Below) for example, the amount of space that it would take to place a campfire would be split into nine sections, with varying items taking different amount of space in these sections.

A seed, for example, might take up 1 section per tile, and a peice of adobe a 2x2 piece, with oddities like shovels taking up 2x3 spaces on tiles.  In order for something like a campfire to be built, though, the said tile would have to be clean of all items except the one needed to be used to start a campfire.

Although this might require the game to be rewritten, it would ultimately be worth it as it would give a whole new feeling to the game, having the tiles be more of a small grid, with everything less chunk shaped.

Right there with you on just about everything needs to be stackable, but that would require a massive rewrite.

Systems are already in place for items to stack in unique numbers suitable for their size, and look how much nicer plates, stone piles and firewood stacks are compared to aligning everything on a 3x3 ordered grid.

True, it would require a major rewrite, but I think it would be interesting, though probably not worth the time:(

Better to invest in more stackable items and designated containers for seeds, wheat/flower, vegetables, animal products and other items often found and used in large quantities.

It'd also mess with the amount of hard drive storage needed on a server.

I think there would be an issue on what you pick up when you click on tile. But this could work on containers - having a basket fit only three berries is my pet peeve. Especially since bowls can take 6 and you can fit three empty bowls in a basket.
