Nononono, ssshhh!!!

Don’t remind him!!

Jason is more likely to rebalance by making early clothes decay than by making new stuff that lasts longer. He has said many times that his goal with the game is to gradually make it harder. As a player who thinks the game is plenty hard, the last thing I want is for a forum post to remind him of a loophole he meant to close months ago.

How to make stew: (assuming the plants are ready to harvest)

Make/assemble tools-crock, 2 bowls, 1 plate, hatchet or axe, stone, sharp stone, flint
Fill one bowl with water, leave near crock
Squash-Harvest with sharp stone, put squash on plate, hit with hatchet or axe, put in crock
Beans-Pick dry beans, put in bowl, smash with stone, put on plate, put back in bowl, add water, take out water, put in crock
Corn-Pick cob, let dry, put dry cob in bowl, hit with flint, put in crock
   Add water to crock
   Put crock on hot coals
When cooked, remove stew with bowls and eat

Note: must add veggies in the correct order, or it won’t work.

#3 Re: Main Forum » I haven't been able to play for a long while, what's new? » 2018-11-28 13:04:48

The only major crafting change is that now we can make rubber tires for carts using rubber trees, palm oil, and sulfur springs. It is used to add tires to carts, which makes the cart hold two more items and last ten hours longer, but can’t be attached to a horse. Also, if the tires are replaced before the cart decays, it can potentially last forever

If you like rp’ing, we also can make playing cards and dice for gambling. Except for a few “casinos” right after it was introduced, haven’t seen it much.

If you want details, OneTech is the place to go.

Or the tutorial. It is a great place to learn how to Smith with no pressure.

#5 Re: Main Forum » Make it rain! » 2018-11-22 19:17:47

Never gonna happen. It’s been discussed before, and Jason said that something about the way the code works prevents this kind of thing from being possible unless he starts over from scratch with a different format.

(I don’t do coding, so can’t explain better)

#6 Re: Main Forum » Murderers » 2018-11-22 19:10:22

Floofy: Arkajalka said he killed a grieffer. There are more ways to ruin others’ games than outright killing, and a smart grieffer can kill off a whole town if they aren’t killed first. Unobservant players won’t see the guy hiding the tools, chopping down junipers, or killing all the sheep as a threat, but they will band together and all curse the one who kills him.

#8 Re: Main Forum » List of commandments for new players? » 2018-11-13 19:47:57

Don’t water all the carrot rows unless you will stick around to harvest.
->”Carrots grow fast, but if not harvested quick, they change to seed, which wastes the soil, unless we need seeds.”

#9 Re: Main Forum » Being a eve » 2018-10-25 22:50:34

Pein: Was that you who named me Master Bater when I was born a boy? Mom already had a girl baby, so other than naming me, she ignored me and I quickly starved.

This was months ago and I still remember it.

#10 Re: Main Forum » Being a eve » 2018-10-25 21:37:14

Compare the family trees for each life. Chances are the three girls knew what they were doing and only kept a few babies for the next gen, which allowed them to work a lot and build up the town to a point that their grandkids couldnt destroy everything.

Three sisters can be very productive, like three eves working together.

#11 Re: Main Forum » How do i spawn as an eve? » 2018-10-23 14:01:09

Change your settings so you choose which server to spawn on. When you let the game decide, you end up on server one with everyone else, while the other 14 servers are almost empty. If no one else is on the server, you will Eve, and if you manage to die of old age after making a home marker, you will respawn close to the home marker, so you can build up your own town over many lives.

#12 Re: Main Forum » Suicide is OP - Should it be nerfed? » 2018-10-17 22:13:58

I was on a usually-empty server, and had made a start on a camp, when I died. I expected to respawn back at my place, but instead I eved at another place with two players who immediately grabbed the bow and arrow and knife that had been on the ground. I asked them if they were going to kill me, and they replied that they were just being careful. I asked them what they needed, they said “soil”, so I borrowed a cart and baskets and brought 5-6 cartloads of soil and two of each kind of seed while eating wild food. I put the cart back, thanked and complemented the other two, informed them that I was going to suicide, and starved behind a tree a few screens away from their camp.

This is the polite way to suicide.

#13 Re: Main Forum » Mother why????? » 2018-10-14 05:35:37

Vet is short for “veteran”. In real life, a veteran is someone who used to be in the military. In gaming terms, it means an experienced player.

Wall Builder, I love that we built a town together. Thank you for restoring my faith in other players.

#15 Re: Main Forum » Did I just lose everything? » 2018-10-08 20:59:22

It might not be totally lost. In future Eve lives on that server, run around in a big circle around your spawn site and look for signs of humanity, and follow those signs until you find a camp. I have often been able to relocate old camps on unpopulated servers this

Just starved because of bouncing bug. How do I report it? I’ve got the life in my playbackgames file, but don’t remember the other steps.

#17 Re: Main Forum » Don't Joke about Griefing » 2018-10-04 14:59:32

I had a baby once that responded to my “wanna stay?” with “y i k i l u”. I dropped her immediately. When I refused to feed her, she claimed “jk”, but I let her die. Whether she meant it or not, saying that she intended to kill me when she was dependent on me for food proved that she was too stupid to live.

#18 Re: Main Forum » Popcorn and Domestic Saplings » 2018-09-24 20:39:06

Domestic saplings were changed. Now they only make weak skewers, which are not as useful as non-weak.

#19 Re: Main Forum » Make Goose Berries not so Yummy. » 2018-09-18 02:13:48

I spent a whole life collecting and baking different foods to try out the yum bonus and ate all the foods in my next life. I got up to a yum bonus of+13, but it MADE NO DIFFERENCE to my hunger level or how fast my hunger went down or how many pips I had. What did I do wrong? I must be misunderstanding something.

#20 Re: Main Forum » Things to learn or overlooked feature? » 2018-09-17 15:04:07

Smithing: go back to the tutorial and try again. Hint: you get tongs from hitting a straight branch with a sharp stone and then with a flint.

Eveing: try an empty server (any server higher than three). It is much easier without babies popping up constantly.  And when you know it will only be you, you can settle in a less ideal spot. One person only needs 3 ponds and three fertile soil piles to survive until you can compost.
If you die of old age, you spawn in the same area for the next life, so you can build a nice place for yourself and learn whatever interests you without worrying about other people.
If you do get a baby, I recommend NOT raising it. People who choose empty servers generally don’t play well with others. But that is your choice.

Sheep: make sheep pen and put bowl of berries and carrot inside. make bow and arrow and rope. Put food and rope in backpack. Carry bow and arrow to badlands with mouflon. Follow a mouflon around until it has a baby. Shoot mouflon. Eat. Use rope on baby, run back to sheep pen and release baby in pen. Feed baby. When it grows up, it will have domestic sheep babies. Keep the mouflon in the pen, feed the babies for poop and wool and meat.

Feed a wolf, get a collie, a German Shepard, and a wolf
Feed a collie, get a poodle, Airedale, and a collie
Feed a German Shepard, get a beagle, a pit bull, and a random (which transforms the mother to the same random breed)
Feed a Airedale, get a daucshund which grows up to be a schnauzer, a schnauzer which grows up to be a dachshund, and an Airedale
Feed a poodle, beagle, pit bull, schnauzer, dachshund or chihuahua (which you can only get as the third puppy of a German Shepard), get three of the same breed as the parent

I haven’t had a chance to try this in the game, so I don’t know how accurate it is.

#22 Re: Main Forum » What do you spend your time in-game? » 2018-09-14 02:01:34

I’ve spent the last few months on empty servers creating my own towns and trying to max out the tech tree before failing to get to old age.

I recommend this way of playing for anyone sick of having your work destroyed by others. It takes a long time to make progress by yourself, and it can be frustrating when you get killed by animals, but your work will still be there the next time you log on. Especially good if you can only play one or two lives a week (aka, have a job/life).

Once you get tools, compost, and pies sorted, you can do anything you want and learn how to do everything in the game. Currently, there isn’t anything that requires a second person except healing.

Just don’t raise kids. They tend to return the favor by killing you so they can steal your town from you or “rule the server”. Happened to me twice.

#23 Re: Main Forum » Switching items in backpack » 2018-09-08 16:09:19

Jason has changed the backpack. Now you can flip through your items by right clicking, then left click to put the last item in the backpack and empty your hand. Just be careful, if the last item is food and you left click the backpack, you will eat it instead of stowing it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Jason. This is much better

#24 Re: Main Forum » How to remember to eat when you're old? » 2018-09-05 19:19:37

Play a few lives with the sound off. You learn quick to keep an eye on the bar.
