This game has made me laugh hard, shake my fist at the screen in anger, give myself a pat on the back after a "successful life", and yes, shed a tear or two.

Make no mistake, this is no mummy-baby role-playing game. Neither is it a classic crafting or survival game. It was easy for me to fall in love with, but very hard to get good at.

I had a hard time going from berry-munching, quickly starving food sink to the point where I felt I could actually be of help to my family. If you decide to give this game a chance, prepare for a decent amount of frustration from the unconventional controls (they are actually pretty good, once you get the hang of it), early deaths, and obnoxious trolls that you might encounter.

I raise my glass to the artist, who is continuing to create this masterpiece, Jason Rohrer, and to the community of dedicated players who make some of these "lives" so wonderful.

An d I spit on the bone pile of the kid who hid my unfinished stew crocks, on which me and a delightful young lady worked hard yesterday to save our village from famine. You will rot in Donkeytown.
