If I had to put it in a nutshell, I'd say that it is quite overwhelming at the start. There are a ton of craft you can do with everything around you, people seem to mind their business and not really pay attention to you and your food bar is dropping dangerously fast. But then you ask for help and friendly players will explain you stuff step by step. How to start a fire, how to have a carrot farm running and sustain yourself, etc. You will probably die from not paying attention to said food bar or to some wild animals, leaving a family of unknown people from the Internet behind you, but that doesn't matter, as you will hit "get reborn" again and again, live other lives and learn new things, eventually teach some (one of the most gratifying aspect in the game), meet new people and die other silly ways every time. You might even check around the forums, at first to look for any sign of a lost mother or an obscure recipe, then to see how the development of the game progresses and learn more about the game and the people who play it and read poignant tales from the game and, in the end, become a grumpy veteran who sometimes gets mad at noobs for not knowing every single aspect of the game. Great experience. |
