I find this game fascinating. On the one hand, it's a very challenging survival, crafting, and civilization-buildin g game. (Seriously, the learning curve on this thing is steep, so you do need to have some patience with it when you start out. But learning things and eventually getting good at them is very satisfying when it happens.)
On the other hand, it's also sort of an odd social experiment, in which random strangers come together to perhaps build something -- a family, a society, a town -- that will last beyond their brief individual lives. It's this that really attracted me to the game, and this that keeps me coming back. I love that every life is its own story, and that I never know going in quite what that story will be.
I also love the charming art style sound effects. And I really appreciate the work the dev continually puts into it. There's a new update every week, sometimes adding new content, sometimes improving game performance behind the scenes, sometimes adding features requested by users (like a way to play with friends, or mechanisms to help deter griefers).
I don't play lots and lots of games, and almost never MMO games, but I'm very glad I gave this one a shot, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes in the future, as it continues to change and develop. |
