When I have knife, I know it is too easy to go on a rampage (2v1 are easy), so I rather become a slave master, king, etc.. and making new things. Griefing isn't permanent, our griefers became normal after a while, look at all others that were the same as him.

Does a bunch of stuff specifically to undo effort put in by other people, then get's all upset when they respond the way any person who's been wronged in person might. This is what I like about OHOL, if the people you have in your village doesn't have weapon, you can do what ever you want to them. The only thing you can't stop them is to flee. You can be a dictator or a good guy explaining how to not starve.
Being a weak peasant isn't a problem, that is the game.
Personally I dont find it grwat enough I see well the griefer kills somebody, comes back with shield, try to keep fucking up things. And if the griefer has the kmife and you the shield, he would just follow you until you drop your shield.
Best way to stop killer is the knife, best way to stop a griefer is the knife too.
How people get offended by words, they don't really harm you, you know. But are ok with destroying progress and hard work.

Last time somebody threaten me IRL I broke his nose and teeths, by mistake I guess but insults trigger people.
The main concern in this problem is mostly that the griefer that is bragging about it, feeling sad not of his shits but for being seen as a ...rard and then whine on the general forum that people didn't like him because of his cheety exploits and personality.
I am griefing too but I wasn't bragging about destroying the only village there is for the moment. "You were talking about an advanced village, so I went there and destroyed everything"... it is like the kid that steal your appel while you pee and tell everyone he did it... Then he fall with the bad argument " Im improving the game" we heard thousand times in this game.

When mass murderers start killing, people shit their pants instead of rushing weapons and when they have the weapon in hands they stress so much they mistake. Even worst if they are new players, you can , try. Even try to take them from the ground if they drop it. I have been killed once which somebody tricking me by look liking a newby and putting it on the ground, but it is very rare, if you feel enough try. If the trick is visible, dont try come back later.
What Jason doesnt seem to realize is that trading can happen once a village can sustain itself in a basic form. Enough food, enough resources. Then, they overproduce of things which they can afford to trade with another village that overproduced something they need.
Overproduction is the keyword.
But if a village cant even feed its own people, then trades are impossible.
Villages should have an easier time to survive.We need natural resources to respawn faster, alternate resources like rivers and streams for water, other ways to make thread then just with Milkweed, stone tools, make fire with two stones or two sticks instead of it requiring a fire bow drill. Why is fertile soil so goddamn difficult to obtain?

That is what I was thinking. We cant do anything with other villages if we can't even leave ours. It will end up in raids everytime where you steal from people because you have to be quick. You can't lose time but this isn't trading

People can't trade if they are not roleplay. Coming to a village and ask for specific things to trade is already roleplaying, even if you dont want to. This is real trade.
One a the non roleplay trade mechanic I have seen on games was rust, the vending machines dont require roleplay since it is a machine.
You will be always roleplaying in this game, this game makes you a family member : If you didn't consider you daughter as a daughter but just as a player. What is the point raising him if it isn't your objective to make your family survives ? you have no family if you dont consider yourself as a family member. If not it means you are playing for yourself and all you can to do it rushing the tech tree.

It was fun before because the less we had the more we did. The updates were really great with names and crowns. We have villages and things were going on for the crown or killing a rival family, having husbands or wifes, trades in others villages, baby stealing, raids, huge raids were going on too, drama between players, jokes were told.
Now there still is everything of that but highly reduce and focus on the survival. But we already have toons of survival games, while a civilization focused game was very interesting. The ''nothing more to do'' is a misconception of reality. At the moment we have nothing to do, such as before in the game. Even less with decay, or you could say you do something if you like making clothes every life.
But there is no need for serious thought. After building sustainable village there is no more to do. This is why Jason is making it harded. But it implies less and less role play with every update.
The ''nothing more to do'' is the uncreative people argument. We had many things to do, players were developping, we had roads, we started wars, peace, making stories, religions, rules. Now we have to stick to a precise strategy and do nothing else. We were waiting for content because the game had a almost perfect shape, not a remaking of it. why the game got so much hype ? Maybe because it was interesting. Why that many players play less and less ? Because. Hem hem hem. He didn't make the game harder, it's tedious. Now it still is very easy to start everything but it's just looooong, very looong.
We are between 2 first steps. There is no allegiance: no city names, no history, no wars. Only survival. If we get epic missions, or necessity to actually cooperate, we would feel as the part of the community. Other MMO's are making it by trinity tank/dps/healer. Everybody is needed and you actually really urges to cooperate. There are some approaches, like 3-shot bear or watering adobe wall and bell tower.
We had city name, we had history, we had wars, he had communication and ways to make people feel part of the community. Now it is only survival without words. By making us work more repetitivly we are losing qualities. That is why you dont make your employees work all the time, if not they quit you. Running a game is like running a buisness, wait, jason is running a buisness.
I was succesful in OHOL only when I neglected communication, when everybody knew what to do and did not talk, like in sweat shop. Jason even aims in making it more sweat shop to give players challenge. There is less and less place for caring about others.
At which point ? Does he aim us to be robots because we are not playing for repeating tasks over and over. But obviously new meta offers less and less creativity and randomness, which was his aim too as he said... he will have to choose between random or repetition.
OHOL is sort of an MMO; at least the MO part of it? And when we're forced to switch to custom server because the update made the game uninteresting, and we paid for the game the way it was heading towards, are the players really to blame?
Yeah right. We can't blame players for everything, we are not all 12 y/o lazy and whinny imps. We are humans. Look at update survey, isn't like 2 people voted but more than 170 players.

The old "he can do what he wants" argument is has been now. He can shit all over us yes, but it doesnt mean we have to enjoy the game because that's how he made it. We are expressing our opinions and try to make the game better, not being slaves of what is happening

Everyone is migrating to 2HOL, even hard defenders of jason start leaving and join other games, other servers. Around 88-90% of the players don't play more since the update
We learn on discord that they start moving, maybe they are learning, maybe they are trying to kill everyone.
But we know players have stop playing and this 666 events makes spawn like many eves and babies. If we removed those bots that are on customs we see that the playerbase population is really fuckig low. People are leaving in mass the game.
46 legitimates players or less on server 1, maybe half people are bots or none but this scary, game is dying hard
Everything is so tedious with decay that new meta is to use rocks and flat rocks as roads and shit wall instead of stone wall.
Tedious works just make people less attracted to it, so they will find easier way, that is human spirit.

Pre 'Rags to Riches' update this was being done just fine. Now no one bothers getting clothes and those that do by the time they die the clothes are rags. So a bunch of wasted time by the person hunting rabbits and eating food that he did NOT help to grow (food sponging). Then everyone else Dies due to feeding the 1 - 2 people gearing up themselves with clothes. It was all working and playing just fine with a lot of activity and contribution, from many, to build the big towns.
All wiped in a single patch.
Sad.
Making clothes, walls, fences, anything except food is now griefing because everything decays and is a time waist.

And noob are stuck. people don't have the time to learn, when you born people except you to know how to play ifnot they kill you. If you are sneaky enough you rush the nursery and get raise without any word. Then kill the village by starvation because you're useless but you dont want to be killed

At least this game look like the game alive while playerbase is dying pretty quickly. Repetitive tedious works and bots ard not really what we excepted.
Having a challenge is fun.
Being forced to work is not.
One of the worst things a dev can do is artificially make things difficult. Like invisible walls or daily "talk to this guy and in a month get a reward" quests. Challenge should evolve organically from the game, not as an afterthought because you're afraid people get through it too quickly.
