Yeah i wouldn't take Twisted's words too seriously he's notoriously known to be very intolerant of other playstyles than his own.
So you're OK with Vilanelle constantly spamming the N word but you're not OK with me being intolerant of stuff like that?
Please don't fall for this nonsense. Villanelle joined the Discord a few days and they've been constantly harassing and attacking other people, baiting for arguments, trolling, yelling at people, sending zips with potential malware under the pretense that using that file is how you play on other servers. In any other Discord they would have been banned within hours, but since the OHOL discord is more lenient it took a few days. Just becaus they're acting "nice" here doesn't mean that that is how they behaved in the Discord. Before defending them jump into the Discord and scroll through their messages (although a bunch were deleted by mods for good reason).
Freaking finally
THANK YOU so much for this!
How would you anticipate late stage wells interacting with this mechanic? Would they be as they are today, or set a new timer and cool-down on the well?
I think the later stage wells are fine as they are since they require a resource input to get water in return.
Standing your whole life next to a well with a bowl counting 5 seconds each time to get some water to fill a cistern sounds like top tier gameplay...
Yes, I agree that sounds kinda dull which is why I posted this thread to get some thoughts on the idea. Are you going to add something to the discussion or are you just going to complain and bait for arguments like you usually do?
I'm talking about just shallow and deep wells here.
Shallow and deep wells have several 'charges', and every time you use it you have a small chance of taking away a charge. Once the charge number reaches zero the well dries out. On average the shallow well goes dry after taking out 134 bowls, and the deep well goes out after taking out 33 buckets (=330 bowls).
The 'problem' with this is twofold - one, the early well stages expire incredibly quickly and beacause of that they're rarely seen/used (if you take out one bowl every ten seconds on average the shallow well will run out after about 20 minutes), and two, you're encouraged to drain them out asap so you can advance to the next, more efficient stage.
But what if shallow/deep wells didn't have charges, and were instead on a timer (potentially with a small cooldown between water harvesting)? Imagine if a shallow well always lasted three hours and the deep well always lasted six hours, but there was a 5 second cooldown between uses. Now water management becomes more important - your town is limited to 12 bowls of water per minute for the first three hours, and you have to be careful to use them in an efficient manner. Also, actually managing water becomes a real job - you want to have an efficient array of cisterns so you can get as much water as possible out of your wells while they're active. Currently the system is kind of binary, you either have more water than you need or you have none. But with this change you'd have a constant influx of water that can be adjusted to be more efficient with player input.
This would also slightly slow down the technological evolution of towns which can be both a good thing and a bad thing depending on your point of view. It's hard to run the newcomen to make a diesel engine if your town only has one bucket per minute.
Thoughts? Is there something here or does this sound like just an annoyance?

The original post happened on January 23rd, 2021.
On January 22nd, 2021, Mr. Rohrer posted 8 tweets.
I bet he also pooped. There is no way he went an entire week without pooping, which means HE IS LYING TO US WAKE UP SHEEPLE.
Thank you, Mr. Spoonwood, for uncovering Mr. Rohrer's vile ruse, we are forever in your debt. I can't believe that monster would actually dare poop and then lie to us about it...
Don't forget to put a floor below the oven or you'll miss out on the indoor temperature bonus.
Good luck with the move!
Spoonwood is just baiting to argue, don't waste your time by giving his posts attention.
This update also fixes the permanent horse/engine noise bug, that alone makes this a five star update.
Ty Jason! (and of coruse wondible who made the fix for the noise bug)
Think of 'yeet' as the opposite of 'yank'.
I never really understood the control complaints. I think OHOL should have WASD controls for accessibility reasons, but I can't really imagine playing a grid-based game with WASD. Using a mouse is so much easier and more intuitive for me.
Nowhere does Jason say anything about the expected iron amount for non-white families. There will exist a lower frequency of iron veins for non-white families.
The expected amount of iron for desert/jungle/arctic families should stay exactly the same, while the expected amount of iron for the language family will increase.
I'm 99% sure it's supposed to only work for followers and that the description saying 'allies' is just awkward wording. After all, your followers are your allies and I think that's what Jason was going for.
Seems like there is a small bug.
I build one (and got cursed for it, lol), but was not the leader. And in the beginning no ally could enter.
Only if i added them manually. Then auto open worked quite well.
Through being exiled the auto open stopped working for me, but i could still manually open it.
You built the gate so you and all your followers could use the gate. Since you had no followers, only you could use it until you added other people to it manually. (at least that's how I assumed the gate would works/works)
This sounds like the greates QoL update in a LONG time, thank you Jason!
Amazing change!
Also I really like the new +slotsInvis tag, it could be used for more awesome storage options. Better backpacks with more slots are now possible since you don't actually have to show the items any more.
First of all, I hope you're staying as safe as you can.
Secondly, I love the truck! I can see it being very useful, especially since one kero keeps it going for an hour.
Have you thought about making cars/trucks work like plows/sprinklers? I.e. fuel them once and they get 24 charges that each last two minutes or whatever, that way you could use the fuel only when you need it instead of it lasting for a flat hour from refueling.
Did you by any chance consume suspicious looking mushrooms?
Yesterday I gone afk from 12 years old. I was tired and got sleepy so I ate my last craved food and gone by the fire.
I logged in today and I died at 44 ! Mom probably forced feeded me as I died a little after her.
I also had a lot of bbs .
But the most unexpected was that Even if my gene score was already high up. at 49.6 it didn't fell at all but also got raised to 50If my high gene score got baff think of low score /die player, This is clearly an exploit to farm gene score.
The reason your gene score went up was probably because your mother cared about gene score, so she spent her life taking care of you and any babies that might have popped out of you.
This might work to 'farm' gene score, but it also works to farm curses - if you were my kid I would have fed you until I died and taken care of all your kids, but I also would have cursed you as I had to spend my life taking care of your lifeless body instead of actually playing the game. Just to be clear I wouldn't have cursed because I think this is some horrible thing to do, I would have cursed because I don't want you to spawn as my kid and do this again.
It's flat 24 oil. The pipeline mechanic is really cool, but (and this is just my guess as I haven't had the chance to play the update yet) it's probably simpler to just make 24 tanks and train out the spot immediately instead of building a big pipeline to town.
Very nice work. Too bad the cities will die within 48hrs forcing a new road to be built. When the only road connecting the races was built by one team.. I mean.. it goes to show how useless this update was.. than again.. you give us a mode of travel update while we are restricted to a home region.
I'm not sure you understand what the home region does. The only thing it does is it allows you to have kids. You can leave it anytime for any reason, you are not restricted at all.
The Paver Update is probably one of the most useful updates in recent memory, you are seriously underestimating the value that big roads bring to the game.
When a bell tower is rung it gives a bell marker to everyone on the server, allowing other players/families to find you easily. Building a bell tower usually significantly extends the lifetime of a town, since even if the family that lives there dies out the town is easier to find and repopulate.
We managed to get a paver going today, and it's so satisfying to use! I love it, amazing update!
