Interesting, we need a way to make the game easier, but that wouldn't be fun, so like in reality we could work hard to make it easier for the next generation.

Improvements like the well are good examples, before that, it was just survive and no breaks.

have you seen primitive technology? he builds forges very quickly(from nothing). you might say that its fast because he knows about forges and can therefore be efficient. But in that is the point, can we get to smartphones and all that cool technologies with our own knowledge? no. but it would be faster then when we had no clue.

Since we can come back into the world, the culture in the game is world wide. So I thought we could use variety of resources that aren't available to everyone, so that cultures can revolve around resources, and I know you might say that we have different biomes, but they are too close that every civilization/village can access them, in order to have differentiation of civ cultures, we need resources that go a long way that you would see that one and not other special ones, for example, In Canada Maple syrup is cheap and abundant therefore in the game the culture would be to make a lot of maple syrup, While in ancient Mongolia that had a lot of horses, letting them form a culture where important people revolved around horses. They also did have different languages and skills passed down, but all that is universal here.

I tend to get 3X without thinking and X11 as my best and only try

#11 Re: Main Forum » How long does it take to run 1k » 2018-08-31 20:06:52

i measured 5 tiles a second,
5 X 200 = 100
1 second X 200 = 3.33 mins

(without stopping)

With stopping i got 2tiles per second
2 X 500 = 1000
1 second X 500 = 8.33 mins

#14 Re: Main Forum » Why do you play OHOL? » 2018-08-30 02:14:53

I like learning how the OHOL community acts in situations,

Basically I conduct behavior experiments for my own interest.
^ that sounded like a mad scientist, so just imagine this surfer dud saying this.

I mean, as long as the unproductive role players are treated the same as the unproductive spammers, im fine.

#21 Re: Main Forum » Bell Dawn » 2018-08-22 01:45:25

OH yeah, it says my last words were "you are bell" thats because I forgot to name her, she does understand we are going to the bell town.

I was doing an experiment to see how accurate my calculations for distance was, and luckily I had one  daughter, her name was Bell Dawn, I was Erica Dawn.

My sister had left to go somewhere, so I decided to go to the bell town, 11K tiles away, so while I was moving, I found out we go around 5 tiles/s without lag. so I found out if I had done a perfect run (being immortal) It would of taken 2 200 seconds (36.67 Years in game). but because Of eating it would take about 45 years(estimate). I was 10 at the time and new I would be infertile by the time I got there. So I had a child and about 7 minutes later(she could support herself). Someone restarted the (modum?) in our house and I died(not games fault) at 39 years, so I traveled for about 20 years and had 7K tiles left (traveled 4K) so on average you travel:2.55 tiles/s (including food).
I had a stopwatch going, with an average of 3.27(3m 16s) minutes every 500 tiles

Basicly:
Speed: 5 tiles/s....2.5tiles/s including food stops
I want to find out Tiles/S so:
= 500t/3.27m
= 500t/196s [then divide by 196]
= 2.55t/1s
And did you get there bell?

#23 Re: News » Update: Roads and Rails » 2018-08-21 15:53:30

The next thing we have to do to catch up is to find another city and build roads between them. Till then, we are finally behind the updates

I am Pharo wrote:

People sitting around doing nothing is NOT an excuse to kill someone. They are NOT griefing. You can yell at them, sure, but don't kill them. I swear, people are just coming up with excuses to kill eachother because they feel like killing someone.

Sitting around doing nothing, or spamming for "years",
is arguably sponging which is a form of griefing
If someone asks a player who isn't doing anything productive
(especially at times of famine or at the dawn of a new age when most focused labor is required to survive and/or grow)
multiple times with no impact to action, no change in duty,
especially when paired with disdain...
well, then that my friends,
that's a stabbin'.

Spamming objects instead of farming:
that's a stabbin'.

Stealing a mother's baby is kidnapping,
and that's a stabbin'.

I swear, people are just coming up with excuses to kill eachother because they feel like killing someone.

As OP can attest to, it seems like we are finding "people are just coming up with excuses" not to be productive for their society.

Do I want to kill villagers?
No, I really don't.
It puts me in danger, from starvation and scared villagers.
Executions frequently cause players to stop what they are doing,
start talking to understand the justification of said execution,
and more often than not,
rallying against the keepers of basic law and order,
like me.
That is just the risk I bear being a keeper.
You're welcome.
I'd rather be black smithing , building, or tending sheep.

I DOwant villagers to help our society flourish,
but very often famines/food crises are caused
by people not doing direct harm,
but rather endlessly bullshitting.

I am not endorsing slaughtering people in their 50s,
who should be freely allowed say their goodbyes
and tie up loose ends
("Here is where i have a hidden bow and arrow, knives, etc... Rabbits are south west, Iron is..., etc...")
in the final moments of their life.

As a player, Jason asks us to figure out how we,
both as individuals and as a community,
are going to handle griefing.

And as of right now, talking and curses aren't an effective deterrent,
and the game is only progressing, giving us weekly updates with more to do
and more and more to be responsible for.

So, I and other like minded individuals in the community (shout out to Mirelli)
have decided to
always stab and shoot griefers,
and people who's roleplaying includes being non-working tyrants,
or non-working *fill-in-the-blank*

Love,
Pharo

As long as you apply this to rolepayers too, im fine, but if rolepleyers aren't applied, you are looking at this in the wrong way
