yep ... but that is practically impossible to find out ... tomorrow I will review the elderly who reach 57 years old, the results will be approximately what you say
Today in the morning I have reviewed this data and I have created a graph showing all the deaths (any reason for death), this is the result
https://s33.postimg.cc/kt4529hsv/2018-0 … K.xlsx.pngfinally I have decided to count from 55 until 59
The figure is very high !!I have also changed a graph because the data was not understood correctly
This happens a lot to me by mistake I'm trying to do/finish something and I die of starvation at 50+ maybe it's something to look at not sure if the sloop is too high but I almost always forget to eat enough.
great astuff thanks
I sgguested something like this in the official suggestion (ie: REddit) go find it and upvote it.
where is this data source?
It's not really a punishment, similar to the obesity idea. Eating the same thing for 20yrs (in game) should warn you
Indeed. Next time I see a purge I'll take it jehehe
I was thinking of this yesterday after I encountered my first berry-munching town into death...
Basically, the core problem is a game mechanic that is wrong. It is ok to eat the same thing for your whole life. This is true in any game so it's what people are expected to do. However, in OHOL it's different interestingly enough it's bad in an indirect way and I think most new players (myself included) just don't get it until they see older players make better stuff and start to analyze the "food value" and many other things some casual players just don't bother to do or just aren't focused on doing. That said the way to fix this is to make it bad for you to do the same thing many many many times because that way you'll realize you did something wrong. Again remember the problem is not the noobs the problem is that there is no hint that you are doing it wrong especially since berry towns may die a gen or two after you yourself died and noobs think the game is just hard. so how about.....
Perhaps you get sick of eating the same thing too much and that's a hint to players that just doing berries (aka the same thing over and over) is bad for their health?
Maybe yum/yuck can we extended that if you eat the same thing 10-20? times in a row it gives you less health and the ambient changes. Sort of like "don't starve" in which the world gets darker as your sanity decreases giving you the hint that it should be up or else bad things will happen.
So rather than yum being a bonus by itself, yuck can have several levels of yuck. The actual number needs to be calculated but I'm thinking that perhaps 20 years is a good number. After that 40-50 we can even go as far as you dying of "intestinal problems" or something like that. That is a clear message from the game that you are doing something that's bad for "your health" and will push people into more advanced food production which is where I believe Jason intend this to go as well as the most advanced players will love to be.
thoughts?
Yes! to proper signs. I think labeling things with instructions is the best way to teach people.
ha! good thing we found each other here... I agree in fact (and retrospective) I should have chosen otherwise I agree that killing some people that are not cooperating isn't griefing, however, I use force as last resort (here and IRL, haven't killed anyone yet, lol in neither) ... all in all I think we need a better way to notify people they are doing it wrong. I went to sleep thinking of ways to fix this.... maybe messages from the gods? but on the other hand, it's their game and they are enjoying it too right? even if they are killing off the town? I guess that's the question?
The other idea i had to fix this diseases!. Perhaps you get sick of eating the same thing too much and that's a hint to players that just doing berries is bad for their health? Maybe yum/yuck can we extended that if you eat the same thing 10-20? times in a row it gives you less health and the ambient changes. Sort of like "don't starve" in which the world gets darker as your sanity decreases giving you the hint that it should be up or else bad things will happen.
So I think I'm less of a newbie now because today I got pissed off at the town I manage to get in. At first it was calm and interesting. An ok sized berry farm, to the east an abandoned smithing area and what used to be a stew farm with 2-3 stews ready, to the west pies and wheat and other crops. To the north people were teach/learning to build a PEN for sheep, it was gonna be a great life....
Then I realized the only people working towards growing the town where the pen and us doing pies, I noticed someone stumbling upon the task and I teach him how to finish this batch and then how to make dough and the second process again, he said it was his first day so I was happy then I noticed people planting more berries and asked them to stop, hoe broke down and no one replied to smitting a new one, then someone made a stone hoe.... By the time we had our third batch of pies and ran out of carrots, berries and stuff, surprise surprise a cart full of mutton meat showed up ... they wanted to take some carrots and we realized they were all gone... so I set out to look for some seeds and come back plant them a little to the side (I actually just did one row as my backpack was full with other stuff including an iron I found, which of course no one smitthed.
This is where things go wrong, someone suggested to me to do a "purge" after realizing what was his goal I refused so he keep helping me after I was screaming at people to please don't eat this carrots (and we lost two anyway) he found a knife (probably had it stored behind a tree) and literally had to stand on the carrots telling people to back off. Carrots grew and we manage to reboot the compost cycle just in time to get more dirt as it was all gone and I couldn't find enough to put the 4 seeds we got. Then I go a little bit south to look for water and find this.
Of course I died of starvation while typing that and taking the screenshot and being just frustrated.... here's the life anyone here was one of the people actually working? http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=774640 this was a very good third gen IMO.
Anyway seems like the town died afterwards because someone got bored and started staving "idiots" and the rest just starved.
I wonder if a build server is something that makes sense for this game
Jason *hint* move that somewhere else. I couldnt find it either.
8% ! that's definitely going to keep me around for a while.
A bit of good news here. I have only read about these terrible people in the forum. Maybe i'm lucky and our timezones are different but my point is everything else is great. Yesterday I had the exact opposite happen to me. I was born to a bad mother... she died short after and uncle lol at her a couple of minutes later people started saying *no girls left* this order due said ok this town is dead I won't waste my time on it... and went next to granma's grave to die. I followed him and asked if he could teach me stuff. Stew or smith he said? We made a bunch of tools and after he passed away I made some more it seems like an eve can actually find those if you die of old age so that's what I did
I have little experience here but maybe this guy wants to help https://www.youtube.com/user/HoneyBunnyGames he's part of the reason I'm here
it's been a while since I managed a forum but ... isn't there a "new users need the approval to post their first comments" this way accounts are in "audit mode" before going into "ok to post mode"
just want to point out yuca is a totally different thing.
shouldn't the tutorial have a block for naming yourself and your babies and why it's important?
hehehe I had to figure this out one by myself. In a nutshell for people looking for this. Download the game find the last OneLife_vXXX run it. (It will download stuff if it's not up to date) then find the last OneLife_vXXX (where the number is bigger) and run that. Sadly you need to watch out for update everytime it's updated you need to use the last OneLife_vXXX.
PS: Jason I'm on mac and I'm a software dev... time is limited but if there is anything in particular you need help with getting the mac version I may help out.
I believe that is the case just one poop when they grow then you should kill the older Sheep.
nice stories, I wish I'll play with you some day.
People just taking stuff you carefully planned while you are away looking for "what's missing", how inventory is weird (ie: backpack has 3 spaces but it's so difficult to make use of...) and clutter.... I think everything "common" should stack maybe stacks of 5? 5 seeds? 5 carrots? etc. Several "take until full moves" ie: berries, carrots?, water? see how it's weird depending on the item.
But I think stacks/inventory is the most important one right now. As it will clean up cities a lot.
it's a tricky thing... I have read that back before the apocalipse town even had names... I think sign should be way easier so we can have this stuff happen more.
im in I'll try to hit you up in discord
The current problem is that the bush holds more than the bowl, so I can't just transfer the remaining uses from the bowl to the bush. I.e., if you use the bowl on a half-full bush, you should get a half-full bowl, right?
I'll look into it, though.
Is it a simple math question no?
berries_to_take = size_of_bowl - current_bowl_count
if berries_in_tree > berries_to_take
berries_to_take = berries_to_take - berries_to_take
berries_in_bowl += berries_to_take
else
Berries_in_tree = 0
berries_in_bowl += berries_to_take
hehehe not so simple. But basically empty the tree if it's less than 6 berries or else removes as many berries as the bowl is missing.
