He's not griefing; after playing some Farcry 5, I suspect that he's like playing so called real life example of a sociopath that claims he is a "reincarnation" of a savior that tries to kill you, and you only, like you are some marked-man... like Taken.

Jokes aside; having players to "randomly" assigned to any "random" family is really how the game works; by assigning a "family" concept really goes against Jason's perception of why he doesn't want to friends just spawn right next to each other; however, I think some modders in this forum already implemented some codes in their custom server with the coordinates feature.

Maybe the food meter did drop slower if you hold the baby tight, therefore, I would appreciate if you can provide some coding information/calculation first.

The math I know back in two weeks ago (because we know Jason would keep changing the game mechanic) is that pick and drop gives baby 4 food while consuming mother's one food; with the addition of the fire, you are much better off having that kid stay near fire instead. In otherwords, if you hold the baby tight, you are making 1 to 1 exchange which is obvious not as ideal as 1 to 4 exchange.

In the OP's defense, I have more fun playing Hearts of Iron 4 Black Ice than Hearts of Iron 3 vanilla because it's between a chore of assigning generals in HOI3 while having some degree of difficulty in HOI4.

I've been born in cities several times, the mothers just stand around taking care of the babies, no tutorial given.

In any case, what tutorial could she possibly give, the game is a mess to figure out.

The game isn't a mess; the issue is... yes, homework.

Also, I specifically said I don't want homework, and you all told me to go do homework. No thanks.

Sure, all games have learning curves. I played dark souls and loved it. I played - and still play - don't starve without ever looking at tutorials. I love a challenge.

This isn't a challenge. It's homework. The game isn't fun, plain and simple. If this was on steam, I would ask for my money back. But oh wait, this isn't on steam. Cutting out the middle man, haha, yes, I'm never falling for that one again.

I once purchased a Dyson mini-vacuum and I regret the purchase after a month because it's heavy and it has a short battery life. While my parents and my neighbor that borrowed it said it's awesome, I never felt like it. While after all these years, the battery life is still around 30 minutes, I still hate myself paying USD299 6 years ago and I would prefer spending it on something else.

I understand buyer's regret; but in order to prevent our own buyer's regret is, ironically, doing a bit homework. I understand that you probably only watched one U-tube and thought it's fun because the content creator made it so; and unfortunately, happens to many Early Access games in Steam.

Anyway, if you are using Paypal, you can ask for refund, but the process is painful; even if you were using credit card, I think you can still contact those credit card agency to reverse those transaction.

Theoretically, but mothers never give lessons, and I can't ask for them because I can't talk.

Mother not giving lesson is either she's as new as you are or she is too busy surviving as you did; therefore, as other suggested, try visiting a custom server so you have some breathing room first.

PS:
Its the same with milkweed. If you have compost to spare, you can plant as much of it as you want and it grows in 4 minutes - so you can collect as much as you want in single lifetime as long as you have compost/fertile soil. But there is no critical mass with milkweeds. Even with 200+ you will need more strig for clother, more rope for tools and hand carts, rope for pine walls, more snares, thread/rope to make replacements for lost stuff... etc, etc, etc...

But when I can find 8 snares in a settlement, I go crazy. Anyway, it's about if the village is organized for where to put the tools.

I hate to say it, but industrial is too early... if you have watched 1H1L trailer, Jason does have vision about the modern age and even future.

Right now, we are just at the beginning of agricultural revolution.

#11 Re: Main Forum » The lack of storage problem! » 2018-03-20 06:54:27

Lack of storage is a problem when you don't have boxes/carts.

The issue though is whether if we need something in between 3 (from basket only) and 12 (4 baskets in a box).

#12 Re: Main Forum » Berry Farming: is there a better way? » 2018-03-20 06:48:04

I kind of getting the illustration by the OP here, but I think the OP should provide some solid calculation regarding the life cycle of this particular berry farming technique.

Currently, You get the perfect temp from standing in a slow large fire naked. Anything more like clothes, floors or houses will overheat you and make you just as hungry if you were cold.

Fully clothed babies in front of a large fast fire inside a bear rugged house would starve PRETTY quick.

That's why the fire provides a diminishing AOE effect warmth. I don't roast myself all the time.

I'm having the exact same issue. All Windows 10 folders unfortunately default to read-only and don't allow you to change that status, regardless of privileges. My game would update fine until recently.

That's like the weirdest thing I have ever heard... considered that you already mention "regardless of privileges", I am sure that you have already tried Administrator access, which should pretty much allows you to do anything unless your anti-virus programs gave you another layer of headache; therefore, are you sure that it's really Win10 making you miserable or the anti-virus that just outright delete the file?

I was thinking about refunding it as well, since the game felt more like work than anything else to me at the time. It still is a mixed bag of fun and work, not the good kind, but the thing is that this isn't a game that you play for hours on end. It's a game you should only play for like an hour or two and then give it a break. It's all about the experience. It's not going to be your new Rust or Arc, or whatever.

There is a lot to talk about this game. Like a A LOT! I say keep the game. I have good hopes that Jason is going to keep working on this game for a long time. He seems like a passionate developer.

Like every posts that mentioned "refund" for this game, this game is really not everyone's cup of tea and I absolutely agree with that.

What I still don't understand though, is that we are in a time when some of us are fed up with AAA developers/publishers yet some of us got burnt trying quite a few Early Access in Steam; but still, we haven't learned a lesson by doing a bit more research... well, isn't this is like the game mechanic of 1H1L?

Sure, you can run an endless carrot farm, but that's about all you can do. I thought this game was about tech development which implies division of labor, and you can't have division of labor when everything is in one pile that everyone is messing with.

I think the issue is that we advanced the tech much faster than Jason's anticipation though; but on the other hand, our life isn't improved much because people aren't building houses for nursery or successfully grew a huge area of milkweed.

#19 Re: Main Forum » ** Advanced civilization with rejuvenation machine ** » 2018-03-17 03:40:23

This idea is like we play a character that reaches modern age and so our character is playing 1H1L.

#20 Re: Main Forum » Refund? » 2018-03-16 12:59:58

There are indeed consumer laws; if the OP happens to live in the same State as with Jason, the process is even more easier; however, there are countries that have limited arm's reach to the extend the laws for product sold online.

That said, Jason is living the land of buyer's regret (USA) and he certainly understands it, so ya, get your refund via paypal if that's OP payment type.

#21 Re: Main Forum » Are they planning to add Writing? » 2018-03-16 12:44:16

Consider Jason would like to bring this game to modern age, writing is definitely a part of civilization; however, he probably need to think a way to delivery writing as a product that can be utilized but not overpowered in early ages.

Asking to refund a public domain/open source game feels a bit nasty to me.  Even if you get a refund, you can still play the game as much as you want, just you're not supporting the developer.

You should give the OP a break; since Cryptodream technically spill out the issue where the OP didn't do his research enough. The OP probably just joined the U-Tube Hype and didn't know this is an open source game at all.

As to the OP, I read another forum post suggesting that if you paid via Paypal, it's possible to get your refund, but the refund process of Paypal is really painful to deal with. As for other types of payment, I haven't read the forum saying anything specific.

There are forum users' servers... while they aren't technically god mode, some are good enough for you to practice the tech.
