Hi all

Not played OHOL in several months but it still stands out as one of my all time favs, will absolutely be coming back to the game at some point.

Just caught a new vid on YouTube from Teo playing OHOL he loved it and his upload captures the essence of the game perfectly from a new players perspective.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtrTtwOZsFk

His main channel has 1.3mill subs although this was on his secondary channel at 167k, but hopefully this may draw some more attention to this unique gem of a game.

Happy new year to you all, hopefully I'll return soon myself to enjoy some fresh new adventures.

Usually I do what's needed most at the given time, then work my way backwards from there in terms of priorities and my age. If mom's a good one I'll already have an idea of what's needed, if not, it's easy to grab a bit of food when you are young and give the camp/town a preliminary scout, see what's working, what's not. It's rare to find a perfect camp in full working order with no needs...

Also I tend to enjoy a roamers life if everything at base is perfect with no immediate problems. Bringing in stuff for others to make their jobs easier/more efficient.

Finding iron veins and bringing back mountains of the stuff in one life, then in a later on life smithing the floor load of metal is probably my favourite thing to do though.

I was born into a town, surrounding area looked pretty good, buildings, farms etc, didn't look like there a was a shortage of anything.

Sorry too many, mom tells me, meh, not really too fussed being your kid if you're too lazy to look after me, I'll wait for the next life.

I could already see a chap looking over, I didn't ask to be fed, but he still came, fed and named me. I'll always do my best to roleplay it up if someone's nice, but he was troubled. He was upset with some assholes in town carrying weapons and spouting Nazi BS.

He took me to show me his stashed weapon, but alas it had been stolen. He was already getting old but he asked me to finish what he couldn't, I agreed.

First off quick bit of tidy work around town, watching the two targets as I worked. Yep, they were def a prime couple of dooshes. I headed out of town to prep a bow and arrow, whilst further out I found a horse and cart had escaped, then a body and back pack. I finished the arrows and got extra rope for the bow to make outside of town, but when I returned there was no spare fencing for the horse. I tried telling someone how to make one but time was slipping away, I decided to swap the horse and cart with the empty one hitched up, dropping it off in the bakery and shutting the doors. (Doubt it stayed in there for long though, ha) I retrieved the bow and chased down the duo.

Saw the first prick with the knife, sill spouting like a 10yr old, shot him down in front of his buddy. Knew I'd be soon to follow but at least I kept my promise to you dad, well, I got one of the bastards a least!

Some lives I'll make a large milkweed farm just away from the village, so that the person that finds it is hopefully the sort of person that is actually out doing something, not some berry sponge that's never going to take a backpack out of camp even...

#7 Re: Main Forum » Please make some seeds before you harvest the plants » 2018-07-17 20:06:35

I was so pissed off trying to start a milkweed farm for people last night (instead of making a BP for myself) I suicided. Was like 4 backpacks and clothes waiting for thread, but no milkweed anywhere. Looked everywhere, hunted down one dam seed. Made a large set of tilled rows for a farm, planted it, waited, guarded it by sanding in front of it.. Then had a kid which put me low on food, the second I moved away it grew and some moron picked it before it fruited. Fuck that town, they lost a grinder lol.

#8 Re: Main Forum » The Walrond Family » 2018-07-17 14:25:46

I think getting a family to around mid teens+ in terms of gens is a good effort. Proves the location was a solid choice.
Usually after a sheep pens made and there is a knife or two in camp is when he griefers/morons start fucking everything up..

By 20-30 gens people may have been born into a town several times, get bored, and then grief even harder..

#9 Re: Main Forum » PRAISE ZULU » 2018-07-17 14:11:17

Um, think you got confused with the Ghostbusters demon dog Zuul not Zulu XD

'Zuul the Gatekeeper of Gozer is a demigod and minion of Gozer, The Destructor, alongside Vinz Clortho the Keymaster. Zuul is assumed to be female due to being known as The Gatekeeper and for possessing a female host instead of a male host.'

So yeah just spawned in, had mom pick me up and try to curse me, hadn't named me properly yet..
Named me, cursed me instantly.
I ask why.
You are cursed my fiend.
Yes. But why.
Next they try and stand me on a grey tile near a bearcave, nah love, you picked the wrong baby to fuck with.

The bear pounced, I was already dashing, she was trying to pick me up, I dodged again, over and over whilst drawing her into the bears path.

I could speak three letters but still I mocked her.

LOL
YOU
BAD

Finally the bear struck home and with a howl the evil banshee was mortally wounded!

I had time to mock her further as she raged at me before dropping dead.
Happily my small, still toddler frame finally collapsed.

I didn't mean voice chat in game, just between the two twins on Discord/TS

#12 Re: Main Forum » Had my first twins... » 2018-07-15 02:40:55

No, I really hope Twins (if poor mom manages to raise them) could be a massive asset to a civ.
I have had lives with people who I've worked in perfect sync with, using very little communication and got so much more done than usual.
Being able to tell each other exactly what's going on/needed/plans ahead, can only further that efficiency. Also less time typing is more time building!

#13 Re: Main Forum » Is there a youtuber here? » 2018-07-15 02:02:05

Temp walking! More people need to know how to use temp to their advantage, not disadvantage. I try and tell anyone that says their new how to roam and rear kids using it but its mot always easy to explain/not starve/work at the same time in game.

#14 Re: Main Forum » people to play twins with » 2018-07-15 00:18:34

Sure, I've got a few days off, but daughters asleep now so shoot me an email and I'll give you a shout with the TS details tomorrow or something. smile

#17 Re: Main Forum » people to play twins with » 2018-07-15 00:01:54

I'd be up for twinning up with someone.
But I use Teamspeak not Discord. Based in the UK so if anyone plays (UK time) between usually around 6pm-2am, has TS & wants to team up give me a shout.

#18 Re: Main Forum » Karma will come around, Saria II » 2018-07-14 23:56:36

Welcome to the forums.
Yeah seems like another case of the hard workers getting fucked over by the lazy.
You probably would have provided the whole village with food, clothes and backpacks over time.
But no some lazy moron just saw no further ahead than the end of their nose.. (Oh enough fur for a backpack? Awesome that guy went and got it for me...)

#19 Re: Main Forum » Is there a youtuber here? » 2018-07-14 21:40:38

There's a couple of smaller youtubers that have a more quieter tutorial style of vids that I found useful and entertaining when I very first got the game.
(Honeybunny etc gets a lot more views, but usually gets side tracked a lot and doesn't stick to one task a lot of the time, more entertainment than tuition imo)

They are older vids but a lot of the info is still current, or at least should get you on the right path!

They are:

Justice and honor - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRB0pNbXtCM (No speaking, just gameplay but very useful)

and

Cothfotmeoo - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6k0tV5 … -WBGtT9nwK (very small channel but again useful content)

#21 Re: Main Forum » Eves spawning into old cities too often. » 2018-07-14 02:59:03

OMG Perfect.

http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Broodmother

They emerge from her womb as toddlers, often already able to walk, and grow rapidly in their first few weeks of life. A broodmother will birth thousands of darkspawn young in her lifetime.

#22 Re: Main Forum » Eves spawning into old cities too often. » 2018-07-14 02:54:37

Was just about to comment on that exact quote. just the word 'broodmother' eww lol.
Images of future games where there's shrine in the centre of every oversized berry field, a vast bloated queen sitting atop, comatose but still spewing hungry demons forth, POP and another shrill F echoes out amongst the shrubbery..

But the bowls! Think of the bowls... Never seem to have anywhere near enough of them as it is.

Glad I made a fresh batch of popcorn on the campfire for this..
