Hi all

Not played OHOL in several months but it still stands out as one of my all time favs, will absolutely be coming back to the game at some point.

Just caught a new vid on YouTube from Teo playing OHOL he loved it and his upload captures the essence of the game perfectly from a new players perspective.

His main channel has 1.3mill subs although this was on his secondary channel at 167k, but hopefully this may draw some more attention to this unique gem of a game.

Happy new year to you all, hopefully I'll return soon myself to enjoy some fresh new adventures.

I liked that! It's good to see that new players, who have no idea what to do and do everything wrong, can still enjoy the game.

And in particular, can learn and teach and have fun learning and teaching. The game's dynamic of passing on not just accumulated capital but knowledge from generation to generation is compelling and is embraced immediately even by neophytes.

Furthermore, the game's use of familial relationships creates an instant social atmosphere that encourages group cooperation and forming bonds - superficial as they may be - between players.

Jason has a real winner here.

little story:

i worked my ass off, getting sheep, making mine
digging out berries from cold side, planting on warm side, making road around it
saving 2 girls cause their mothers didn't even notice them
making rest of tools
tasking and teaching kids
then somehow made one compost, and could have made the camp viable, somebody dumped some extra soil near berries to fix them

then comes a retard and tills 3 bowls of soil in place, plants berry seeds, when we really need to feed sheep and eat something
i tell her, i yell, a girl also tells her, i start planting wheat and milkweed to save something i worked on 40 minutes
she doesn't stop
she makes a dumb plantation next to jungle on a cold swamp

i stab her before ruins the rest of it

my noob brother who did nothing productive all his life, but last 5 minute got himself a knife from some older lady stabs me for it after listening that 'she wasting soil and extending on cold spot"
some noob girl curses me instantly without knowing what happened

wearing my loin cloth i gave her mother who nearly starved as a baby
and that disgraceful shit even calls me a griefer

next time i get 5 curses

then i afk on bananas playing hearthstone

nowadays i snowball every cocky noob before gets worse, makes camps working
might even hire assassins to do the dirty job
enthusiast newbies are okay
problem was her dumb mother
oh soil is 30 tiles away lets waste iron which came from 300 tiles away

i get that people play a game, and from their perspective its totally ok, just wasting somebody time and efforts feels kinda bad when people so disgraceful, selfish and non logical, git gud before get cocky

this whole framing and cursing bullshit gets tiresome

it also makes me feel strongly that first 3 lives as a new player should be born to a mom n not as eve jesus watching him suffer is too much
