Food scarcity and wastage has vanished

According to http://onehouronelife.com/foodStats.php , no food has been wasted this last hour, all of today (so far), and all of yesterday.

"Wastage" is when someone consumes a food item (i.e. berry, omelette, etc.) and does not gain the full amount of Pips from consuming said object.

Example: If I ate a gooseberry (which gives 3+4 Pips, 7 Pips) and filled 2 of my Hunger Pips and got "+3" next to Food Meter, I only gained 5 Pips rather than 7 Pips. I "wasted" 2 Food Pips.

What this means is that everyone playing the game, currently, has been feeding people appropriately, and not letting any food pips go to waste ever. Not babies, not the elderly munching on foods, no one. Period.

That is an incredibly surprising feat, or the numbers are off and not properly tracking Wastage anymore.

If this keeps up, we may actually see the server on a wide-scale progress from Tier 1 of Maslow's Hierarchy to Tier 2.

One of the updates made the extra food pips get added anyways (see the plus side after eating pies)

So it's not possible to waste food.. Though, I suppose food is still wasted if kids or the elderly eat pies.. Not sure how that's being tracked..

Yes, I know that Jason added the update that gave you additional Food storage when over-eating based on Age, and not just for Yum bonus. That's been around for over a month so it shouldn't be resulting in the latest daily data no longer displaying the amounts wasted.

Site http://onehouronelife.com/foodStats.php doesn't see wasted food, it just see number of eaten foods and then does simple math to show how much pips are that foods worth.
Food is wasted every while by kids and elders.

That's odd....when looking at past week stats, it seems to suggest that there's food wastage, as the numbers included don't line up with the Food pips we've earned.

Keep in mind the past 7 days fully include the new "EZ Mode" change from +2 to +4.

I don't know why foodStats wouldn't at least care about that kind of data, seems very useful for Jason to watch how people are eating when it comes to proportion of the food wasted.

Why would Jason care how much food is being wasted?

For the same reason Jason would care about knowing how many times someone fails to put a gooseberry into a basket. /s

Knowing food "wasted" is as relevant as knowing how many food pips each food gives.

If he saw thousands of uses of Popcorn, he'd think that it's being used to efficiently eat.

But, if he saw that 80%+ of the Popcorn's food pips were being wasted, for example, there might be something else going on.

tl;dr Almost all Data is valuable. Waste is one of them.

It seems like he does care about overeating since he recently introduced the stomach overflow mechanic to avoid wasting pips from overeating. That might not be his whole reason for adding that, but I believe it was one of his stated reasons.

The reason was to make higher tech food better than berry munching.
You can't get a lot of extra pops if u eat berrys

Re: Food scarcity and wastage has vanished

I just saw a streamer have 4 out of 12 pips, with a young ginger character.  She ate a mutton pie and had +2 added to her food meter.  She should have +9 for no food waste since mutton pie is (13 + 4) = 17 pips, correct?  Somewhere around 3:30 here https://www.twitch.tv/videos/513265965

Edit: maybe she ate a different type of food before that mutton pie... so possibly +10 for no food waste.

This looks correct by the math posted by Jason; the formula was later tweaked with a +1 instead of +2.
