a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

Then instead of ditching car Jason should improve them, not make them cheaper to make but more cost-effective to run (5x cheaper to run, +5min time instead of 2)
That's still waaay too little since cost of making them is so big. I could agree if they could be running for at least 2 hours or even 10 hours with one tanking. Still it would suk if you were out of fuel somewhere at the other end of the map and you had to abandon the car. They have too little space to be riding with another tank of kerosine - space in cars is another thing that makes them unefficient.
Jason PLEASE
Do not allow engines to be stolen from cars, I and others put HOURS in cars just to get 1
If you allow people to just drive my car to another town and steal the engine to put in another well then that is dumb.
Just make it so you cant steal an engine from iron mines, that would be much
People see making cars as grieffing. Cars waste like 70 bowls of water just to make 2 minutes ride which is insane. Resource and time cost to make a car is also very big.
I would agree with being unable to remove engines from cars if they didn't need fuel to ride, but they do. Just don't make cars.
Making random lineages winners in an arc doesn't suddenly make the game more fresh or exciting
I don't know, to me it does a little.
I'm peaceful player, I almost never participate in wars. Tho I prefer to consider this game as a survival rather than "a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building". A little action is always good IMO, otherwise it would be boring.
I just wanted to be "snorri" if that was my mom's wish. It feels weird if she had to call me "snow" after naming me "snorri". Seems like you are against naming freedom, so I give up. I'm little sad but I can deal with it. ![]()
Another life. Someone named me snorri, my name turned out to be "snow". Yeah, snow isn't bad name, but what's the point of naming if you get random name in most cases...
I can think of a situation where there are only three families left and two of them have 3-4 towns and one of them has only one town. It could be beneficial for the family with one town to conquer another, that would increase chance of surviving drastically - war could help in conquering a town.
The thing is we have no real purpose. Family that survived an arc won't be remembered since we have no such thing as "winners of arcs" tab in main site onehouronelife.com. There is no reward and therefore no motivation to be the last surviving family right now, so yes, making war is more like troll tool than actuall thing with purpose.
Maybe it would be cooler to do only temporary peaces when both families need help but in the end every family was aiming to be the last surviving family.
Wars could be fun when there was real purpose and reason to do them.
No one is going to name me n****r.
We could ban some bad words ![]()
Straight up tho, I'm not going to sit and come up with 14 error names--like a bad username choice--up to 6 or 7 times each time I play a mom because "total naming freedom is just so bad ass".
Come on, it wouldn't be that bad. I doubt you would't pick a valid name in 3 tries... The list could stay for lazy people, maybe an option in settings what to do if a name is taken.
Come on, freedom of naming would be so cool ![]()
I'm not sure about curses. Seems like they should not work when at war, but what about when neutral or at peace?
When neutral, there's still such a thing as a good neighbor, right? When you curse someone, you say, "I don't want to play with you in the future." So if someone is stealing from the other village, maybe you don't want to play with that kind of person.
You wouldn't curse good neighbors. If someone is stealing from the other village and you don't like it you can curse him if he is in your family. If someone is stealing from your village that means your village has bad defense. It's survival game, isn't it?
The same goes, really, for war, right? I feel like I really want to leave it up to each player.
It's kinda like... what kind of game do you want, folks?
If you think war is just within the game, then don't curse the warriors, right? But if you hate war, then you can state that preference too.
Concept with war, peace and being neutral is very nice and fits to this game perfectly IMO. I'm pretty sure you won't remove it so people have to deal with it anyway. If someone doesn't like war he can avoid fighting and focus on defending, cursing is wrong thing to do only because he doesn't like war.
I would suggest to allow cursing only your family and families in peace.
Probably allowing to curse all Eves despite of war/peace state would be also good idea since we had many Eve grieffers.
And why does this list exist in first place? There are better ways of dealing with already choosen names... Just show a message to both players that "This name is already taken in this family, try another name" instead of random shit names that are coming after unsuccessful naming. I think people care much less or not at all about names, they don't check how other people are named only because of this bs list and random naming.
It's sad I get so weird ulgy names so often. I loved the concept with freedom of naming.
the name has to be on THIS LIST in order for to be accepted in the first place... for... understandable reasons.
I don't see any understandable reasons behind this. If someone names you "d**k" then just curse him. People would rarery name bad because they would be affraid of getting cursed.
Cursing someone with long hard name like "ililillilllliilil"? There is also simple solution for that. Write "/curse" and click the person you want to curse and automatically his name would be added to your text, then just click enter. Easy to implement. This should be done anyway despite if list stays or not - kids should be able to curse too.
If you made a pool I'm sure over 90% people would vote to have total freedom of naming. It's just brilliant concept in game like this that has been removed for idk what reasons.
Someone just named me "Lady" and my name turned out to be "laekyn". So annoying...
I really loved the idea of freedom of naming kids. Why has it changed?
Just saw some murders with swords. Some people cursed others for killing. What's the point of war if you are afraid that someone will curse you when you do a kill?
I think it should be impossible to curse someone who is in war with you.
Moreover I think cross-family cursing should be available only to families in peace otherwise what's the point of making fences if you could just curse anyone that comes to your town and take your stuff? I mean, stealing from other families towns shouldn't be considered as grieffing since we have fences to defense - it's bad behaviour but not grieffing IMO.
I wish we had working game replay system...
You can plant saplings. Skewers are basically an infinite resource.

Well, I got chased by an organized posse. They couldn't catch me.
I would say speed up a little organized posse (or slow down a little person that is chased) and leave everything else like it is.
Tho I'm open to experiments in this case.
Why not just let engines get removed from wells too?
There's always a problem if an engine can get "stuck" somewhere, because that might not be the place where it's needed, and an engine is SO much work (and iron).
I know you don't like them removable, b/c of theft, but.... you can't have it both ways. They can either get stuck or stolen. And you do have fences to prevent theft. There's not a really good way to block people from getting them stuck, though.
If engine wasn't stolen then it would make things easier because you could use well engine on iron everytime you needed, no need to make two engines anymore. I prefer making things harder than easier so I'm against it.
And fences can't protect engines from inside grieffers - that would be first thing grieffers would do - steal engine being unseen.
So, pls don't make well engines removable.
I mean I'm fine playing with him next life if he isn't regular grieffer, if he is he would end up in donkey town eventually and that would be good for whole rift and I would be more happy with that.
Also I don't exactly know how old mechanics worked. How much time a person had to get 8 curses before going to donkey town? If each given curse was expiring after let's say 5 days then it's fine, but if it had to be done through one life then yeah, it would be pointless. I also don't know for how long people were going to donkey town. Yet this mechanics worked for me, when I was new I decided to not grieff because I didn't want to go to DT for unknown amount of time.
Arc end, by number of babies ratio..... Is that make any sense?
If there is enough food one person can feed even ten babies. I see this mechanic senseless too. Babies need only three minutes to get full worker potential.
Instead of genetic fitness I would want to have some points for actually working and being productive. That could motivate people to work. Laziness sux ![]()
Ikr, that would be tons of working and pain to implement a thing like this ![]()
It is going in good direction but I still wish we could back to old cursing system or at least give it a try in rift.
I was always against yumming but I wanted to give it a try and play one week with only yumming and I found it fun to yum. But it ended now, again I play as non yummer and I will probably never yum again unless it's actually worth it. Yumming is time and focus consuming, it also consumes space in backpack and it's not really more efficient than eating only efficient foods by non yummers. I kinda feel free again and I have more fun playing without yumming. I will never produce yum foods, If I bake I will make tons of mutton pies and stew and full milk if there is a cow, and nothing else. I feel like I have so much more time and focus on working now with only one muttion pie always in my backpack.
It was worth giving yum a try, it gave me experience. I used to eat yum foods before, now I won't eat anything else except mutton pies, stew and milk, so yummers won't lose their foods by me.
One last word about raw corn. If you make 17 yum chain in your life that means every food gives 8.5
pips more on average. That means raw corn gives 13.5 pips with cost of 1/4 bowl of water and soil.
Yes, it's not very efficient but it's still almost twice as efficient as eating one berry by non yummer and
nobody would cry for one berry. I feel like people like to cry for corn because unlike berries it can
actually be turned into much more efficient food. Don't look at corn as a food but as a cost of
production. But yes, eating corn is bad choice even for yummers. Actually yumming is a bad choice, that's
my experience.
If you've been yumming for a long time I suggest you to give it a try to not yum and eat only mutton pies, stew and milk. You will realize how much more freedom, time, focus and even slots in bp it gives.
Turns out cursing system isn't working at all during eve window.
Another thing that came to my mind is when I curse someone I can't give him birth and he may end up in other family and grieff there. Eventually I will die and possibly respawn in that family that could been heavily grieffed by that person. That sux too.
there are two different people right now with 100+ curses at this very moment.
Does it mean they still could play and grieff with that many curses? Didn't they go to donkey town?
Not going to donkey town with more than 20 curses means that the system is either broken or useless IMO.
I tell them that basics are farming, cooking and smithing and it's best to learn it in that order. From my experience teaching by doing is the best way to learn. I usually teach them one of these things and after they have learned it I tell them to use onetech.info where they can find all recipies and learn things by themselves.
I watched some videos before buying the game and still didn't know what to do in my first game. After my first game I made my own private server with no hunger and aging and become from noob to pretty pro in about two days. I mastered making engine in my 4th day :humble:
So yeah, I think it would be cool if there was single player mode easy accessible from game. That would increase players skill drastically.
Making own server is very simple thanks to Awbz. Just download full windows latest release, open server folder and for the first time opening use runServer.bat as administrator (it will create softlinks. Probably there would be need to make softlinks on your own in older windows versions) and tada, you can connect to localhost. To remove hunger just increase numbers in settings (minFoodDecrementSeconds and maxFoodDecrementSeconds) and to remove aging increase number in secondsPerYear setting. You can also forceEveLocation so you spawn in your town everytime. And don't forget to gently close the server with ctrl+c so it won't crash next time you open it.
It's no cost if you eat one raw corn a life. I know it looks bad compared to milk that is almost free but still your life cost is almost nothing if you eat 17 foods a life. No need to save every penny. Newbs waste ten times more and there are many more of them than yummers.
