One of the big advancements in civilization was a legal and conceptual one, the idea that the land and stuff from the land belonged to someone.  That person then has an incentive to protect it and get the most value from it.  Guards will start out defending the village from obvious threats (trolls, bears) but in the long run they should enforce property rights, which will give rise to trade, inheritance, specialization, etc.  It will also cut down on the running around and make it abundantly clear who is supposed to be where and doing what.  Law enforcement will expand from hunting trolls to punishing those who fail to respect boundaries.  This should cut down on wells getting emptied, carrot farms losing seed rows, etc.

And how exactly will these problems be solved with property rights? Sounds more dogmatic than logical. Arguably property rights is destroying the planet.

I want to join you ;_; i got killed so many fucking times ... i really had enough ... Is the map
the same size or get we all reborn in the same place?

You should, it's a fun server. The map is the same size. Since the server has a low population, it's mostly easy to stay in the same tribe when you respawn after you die.

Oh my gosh, I was your daughter Babsy!  I have some bad news though...I didn't make it.  I also got killed by the bear.  I was actually hoping that you and my daughter had survived.  I wonder if our progeny survived though since you didn't find the equipment where we died.  That was a fun adventure even though we didn't find the gold in time.

As an additional note - I absolutely love this server.  I just started playing on it today, and the extra time for not going hungry as quickly and good people make it a lot of fun!

Granddaughter here! I survived. I was a bit behind you guys. Since both of you disappeared and the bear ran straight at me, I had to assume that it killed you both. I took our supplies and went to settle a new place. I did not have a home marker in our old one. I found an abandoned base and settled it.

It was a great little adventure, I was really stoked for the gold expedition! I was sad that it came to such an abrupt end, but that's life.

I'm  not sure, but I think they spawn underneath "out of" the cave. It could be enough to only block that square, maybe someone can test?

No, it's not.

Hey, its because you need to download the update, change settings parameters to

settings/customServerAddress.ini to contain: localhost
settings/useCustomServer.ini to contain: 0

Enter in the game, autodownload the update, and change the settings again.

It's easier to just rename the files, then start the game, then rename them back. Or move them, then move them back.

but unfortunately it is the mirror of the real life .. so we all have to deal with that (the ideots, the greifers, the murderer, the milkweeddestroyers, etc. ...).

it is realistic that way and the experiment about how a civilization grows is perfect.

In real life death is permanent, so execution works. In civilized societies you put people in jails. In the game right now you can go on killing sprees, then respawn and do it again.

I'm pretty sure hunting is still possible, I managed to kill a wolf when I was on testing if the murdering was turned off. Effects from that won't have taken effect yet anyway, sure you were right-clicking?

Was probably left-clicking hmm

Bril! Here's a q: Does that deadly distance also apply to animals? Does this spell the end of the hunt?

I don't think it does since animal killing is done through the recipe system while deadly distance is just for direct PvP. The bow and arrow also has a useDistance of 5 which I haven't touched.

I tried to hunt, but I couldn't now. Probably because of this. I clicked a wolf many times. Then I went too close and got eaten.

Nice. He can still grief though. And it will be impossible to stop him from destroying stuff.

#12 Re: Main Forum » Please remove PVP » 2018-03-10 20:29:33

We got griefed pretty bad on Norggs server. The same guy came around and killed everyone many times. I got killed like 4 times. It is impossible to defend against, because it's instant and they will respawn when you kill them as a new body. No matter how many times you kill them, they will come back in a new body, as their victims. Hence the griefing never stops.

To combat this I suggest a game log and the possibility to voteban players from the servers.
