Hey.
I suppose bears spawn in bear caves, so would encircling them with partial adobe walls (or full ones) keep them there?

This Sounds brillant ... did it work?

Better with fences, then you can shoot them.

Interesting, In theory, We could farm bears indefinitely. I just wish we could do more with bears, they are such a pain to kill and all we can do is make fancy rugs. Sure the Rugs are good for warmth but It'd be nice to get some meat out of it too.

I'm not sure, but I think they spawn underneath "out of" the cave. It could be enough to only block that square, maybe someone can test?

As a low resource way, dig a trench of trashpits with one fence as a gate
Will test right now
So by using trash pits to create a trench encircling a bear cave, while putting a fence as an exit, I was able to entrap a bear within the bear cave space
So this is a way one can entrap a bear.
If one wanted to disable the cave from spawning bears, one could effectively do so by making the trench entirely pits, no fence, removing the possibility of someone activating a bear

One survival tip about bears that most people do not seem to know.
As long as you never stop on an empty tile, a bear can never kill you.
Stand on an item, a farm, a bush, or anything, and the bear will never kill you. He will run back and forth across you but not harm you.
This makes it much easier to survive bear attacks as well as to safely hunt them with a bow.

I wonder what the relationship is between bears and caves, and how exactly bears spawn.
Sometimes there is a bear cave right next to a village, but bears never seem to come.
Other times there seem to be no bear caves nearby, yet bears attack constantly.

@Thorware - didnt know that, that'll surely come in handy
So, I suppose we have found a way to get rid of bears for good. Just block their caves with trash pits. I know what I'll be doing.

Oven bases are extremely low-tech. Not sure if you can shoot through them though.

how often do bears spawn?
What I a wondering is if it is slow enough that exterminating them for its own sake has a meaningful effect.
I'll tell you what I tell all my children: Make basket, always carry food.
