Cool. I love the idea of mods that change how the game looks or sounds. I've thought about doing a sound overhaul before, not that I dislike the og sounds just thought it'd be fun from a sound design perspective.
However. I fucking hate players that use mods that change the game. I really wish lord Rohrer would make the main server game changing mod free.
You know who you are.
Jason is a clever cunt. He's well weird. We all know this.
This game was his little social experiment, and in my opinion the basic fundamenntal question he was askiing, as most of us do. Is, are people just cunts?
I think he reached his conclusion from this social experiment and has now moved on. Project December is kinda cool.
I really like playing this game, for all its flaws. Can we please come together as a community. Instead of being cunts, stressed out about the next step in the tech-tree. Can we just go back to basic and just teach our children to not only survive, not only prosper, but have fun too.
We need the new players of this game to have fun.
I know its stressful when there's no iron, rubber, oil, etc... but have you asked the noob if they want to learn something new?
What evs,
Just my opinion man,
Prier.
I cant help but wonder if this is some weird conceptual thing Rohrer is doing. Maybe he will intrdocue currency into the game that is also a real life crypto. Very curious to see where this is going.
Hows it all going? Any idea when the next update might come out?
Oh, something else I'd love to see in update is a fully integrated one-tech. Its fine for more experienced players to have another monitor or their phone with one tech open but for new players its easily overlooked. The in game crafting tips are next to useless, if you cant remember the exact name of an item or you spell one letter wrong thats it.
Ive only played once but i think "you are hope' had a similar system to what im talking about.
I'll just use this oppurtunity to apologise for my two very drunken threads I started basically having a dig at people.
Everyone should be able to play te game however they want without being judged. If you want to complain about Jason, that is fine too.
I'm sorry I was being antagonistic.
More chemistry, more drugs. What about wildly hard to craft but slightly op speed? Plants like sida or stonefruit for the precursor. Then consume the product to get a speed boost that shortens your life.
Not my idea but Id love to see biome dependent building materials too.
Amazing work as always Wondible.
Thankyou.
Oh wow. I must have been drunk last night.
Sorry about the terrible spelling.
You do realise this is art house yeah? this isnt minecraft or what ever ohter games you play? this is a representation of messages rohrer wants to teach using his medium. you do get that right? this isnt't about your pety requests, jason had a message and its up to you to interpret it. This is art, more than a mere game.
Jason has made an incredble thought provoking game. the updates are wildy innovative, deal with it or stop playing. I am so sick of whinging vets. we don't want you playing.
Fuck? seriously? you just dump the bb? have you thouhgt about how that affects the game long term?
My approach to teaching yum is to show the kids what I eat. Each time I need food, I find a kiddo and show them how to eat what I am eating. It's all well and good to tell kids to eat diverse food but truly new players usually don't know what food looks like or how to interact with it.
Show then how to use a bowl on a crock or a plate kn turkey. How to make popcorn or harvest green beans.
When teaching them basics I like to start with corn. Corn is the food of the gods. Once they've learnt how to farm it, eat it fresh or make popcorn I show them pigs geese or cows. Gives them a more complex set of tasks to have fun with.
I like your attitude Jack Thanks for this thread. I love making dining areas outside of the kitchen. I fill tables with yum foods, things that you wouldnd ordinarily find in the kitchen. I've played in towns where people have setup yum shops, I'll have a crack at making something like this the next time I play. I think Wine Bars are really fun too.
I'm not sure how to incorporate currency, but I'll give it a try. Maybe it just needs to be more common.
I'll never forget the life where I was leader and a sweet old lady had spent her life making a wine bar. She had loads of wine, snacks, a bar, the works. She just wanted to show me her work before she died but instead I announced to the town of its existance. Half the town ended up in there sharing a story and having a drink and a snack. A cheeky kiddo snuck in wearing a ghost costume and necked a bunch of glasses before anyone figured it out. She had a massive grin on her face, and was so stoked the town got to enjoy her work.
Nothing is more fun in this game for me than competent players working hard and roleplaying simultaneously.
I've been playing just about as long as you have, 11 months and nearly 900 hours.
My favourite updates in that time in no particular order.
Family Mine - I don't mean to be devils advocate, I know this is an incredibly contentious issue. Having only just started the game when this update came out, I don't think it affected me as much as it did others. I liked that families had to trade and work together. It was a little broken until the Family bands update which I think fixed any issues this update had. I like the updates that add content but the updates that change the mechanics are probably more exciting for me as the obscure mechanics of this game is what kept me coming back.
Homeland Biome Bands - Love this update for the reasons stated above.
Legacy Chain - Finally no more /die to continue working on your eve town, You can still chase that meme score whilst be a productive member of a family.
Crave Spice - I learnt to yum pretty early on and this update made it even more fun. I agree that making all food useful was brilliant as I love to cook.
Pickles - One of the first things I became competent at early was cooking. I had learnt to make every food item and the pickle update was super exciting. Not just a new recipe but a whole bunch of new plants too.
Trucking - I've only made a few trucks, and never the engines for them, but I love how OP they are if you can convince your leader to let you use one.
Special mention goes too
Green Revolution - The first few weeks afterthis update came out it really did feel like a revolution. Towns completely changed. The difference between an early game town and a late game one was staggering. It's a shame it never really took off and mostly these days sprinkers are left in towns as unfinished projects.
As far as worst updates. well I can't really think of any. I've loved every chage to the game so far. I can see how certain updates can hinder new players but for experienced ones its not hard to keep on top of new mechanics.
Been watching a few wondible streams and really dig the mods. Played nearly 800 hours vanilla, but i think its time to change. Can I use wondibles mods, or are they just something he keeps to himself?
Cool, the struggs family survived. I was eve struggs. Usually I name myself eve prier, as I'm a bit egotistical. When I played that eve I was having a hard time finding a decent place to setup a homeland. I tried to tell my child "I'm struggling to find a decent spot" and named myself eve struggs. Good to see they didn't strug to much.
Not sure how I feel about the new killing mechanic, just have to see how it plays out in game.
Also, I'd recommend posting this on the subreddit, we get a lot of newbies on there and it's lacking good content like this.
This is really good. We need more basic tutorial videos like this for new players. Another good video could be how to help in an eve camp. Just explaining basics like basket making low tech farming and rabbit clothes making.
My first girl is always named Kali, after that it's usually, Holy, Leah, Sophie or Lulu.
My boys are always Fin and Jake, followed by Beecher, Billy or Kane.
