One way to make leadership useful would be to add a "my allies own this" command to property Gates.  Make it so only people that have been in the leadership chain for at least 3 minutes can use it.  That prevents people from just temporarily following you to get gate access.  It can still be abused by quickly following someone and running away before they see your name.  Babies follow their mothers leaders so by the time they are old enough to use they gate they will have access.

This, and applying property gate mechanics to actual doors so you can claim a building for you and your allies.

It all has real power because the majority of us committed to the rp.

Yeah but in order for it to be used in-game for things other than memes, it would need some practical use.

What can we do to make it not just for role players?

Maybe being able to claim lands and buildings for your kingdom that prevents non-followers from interacting with anything but food items and such.

As a leader, you could request reports on things like "Gooseberries watered by John Smith" from your subordinates. As long as someone in the group saw them doing these actions, they will be counted to your report. This could be explained by people in the village gossiping about who did what. This would make having a leader more advantageous if you could weed out those who don't contribute.

What do you guys think?

Yay!

Personally I'd prefer the slightly more sophisticated version where naming someone makes them your follower. I think it would also make the act of naming feel more meaningful. Buuut otherwise it would only affect the rare case where the mother doesn't care about the baby, but someone else does

You could build an empire from the children you steal rescue

Items could be able to be tagged as "owned by the X family" or "Owned by eve smith" when you hover over it with your cursor. Ownership could be established by the item spending some time within someone's property fence. When you own items, they are highlighted on your screen in a subtle way that still allows us to quickly scan an area and know what belonged to us.

This could be accepted into the realism aspect of the game. If someone spends years around an item, they would be able to recognize it as their own.

Is it possible to save the player states before an update and allow us to resume that life after the update? Kingdoms and Dynasties might become an actual thing if bloodlines were allowed to persist indefinitely.

Do you ever actually work on the game. Because its been the same tech teir for a year

#10 Re: News » Update: More Fixes » 2019-12-21 03:59:01

It's officially been a year since we had a substantial content update (Internal Combustion Dec 14 2018)

#11 Re: Main Forum » The forum is slowly dying. » 2019-12-18 01:44:28

It's been nearly a year since we got the engine and there have been no substantial content updates since then. Players get bored and frustrated and leave. I truly think Jason could be much farther along on the game but he's lost motivation. He spent too much time balancing the game and I suspect that all that balancing is going out the window when he adds more modern technology.

Tech updates when?

Never, just minor game tweaks until he gives up on the game.

How about you give us a content update instead? We've been waiting forever playing 3 days in the stale rift while we are maxed out at engines.

Is there some sort of lore within the game I'm missing? What makes you think its post-apocolyptic?

I think the easiest solution is to require some sort of monument to advance to steel. Maybe a huge furnace that requires a shitton of time and resorces put into it.

I was going over the OHOL map and discovered that it takes around 11 hours to complete the tech tree. 660 years to go from the stone age to engines. Am I the only one that feels that this is a little fast?

#17 Re: News » Update: Strange Visitors » 2019-11-02 17:13:20

Jason, when are we going to get a substantial content update? It feels like the last one was the engine.

At the current state, no one wants to PvP because the victor is determined by who initiates combat first. We need an overhaul of the combat system if Jason is going to push us into situations where we have conflict over resources.

We could have a tiered system based on the different ages humans went through and some sort of resource dump of a goal that allows us to advance towards the next stage. It could be stone, copper, brass, iron, steel. We could have to make a better furnace or anvil to be able to make the next tier and require a massive amount of effort to achieve. Maybe a furnace that requires 200 round stones would be required to create copper tools, weapons, and armour. This would be in the stone age so we wouldn't have carts.

In each of these ages would be a set of basic tools we can make from the resources we can access. In each of these tools would be a set of weapons and armour. As well as a defensive set and an offensive set of weapons. There would be two stances you could take and then a point system would work out who wins based on how good your armor is, what stance you are in, and what weapon you're using and if it's good for the stance that you're in. Attackers would always be at a disadvantage so would have to be geared out to win. A wooden spear would be the first weapon we could make and it would be an OP defensive weapon. It would be effective at holding off attackers in the copper tier. Defensive weapons would carry on this trend of being OP throughout the tiers.

This would create more conflict between the civilizations and a way to resolve it. There could be very few copper mines and force us to fight over the limited resources and give those people just standing around something to do. Like guard.

#19 Re: Main Forum » We desperately need a combat system overhall » 2019-10-30 05:53:33

Now that im thinking about it, we could claim objects like we do property fences and if someone outside our family took them we could declare a war. Maybe with 3 people over 35.

We could have three of them guarding a spot and be able to decide to declare war on any intruders

I think that this may be because the servers go down for every update and everyone in that civilization dies. There are no perminant civs that can be set up for some reason. It could also be that the game is just too hard at the moment and most civs die before we can even set up communication. Maybe if little paths show up on commonly walked routes like in real life. Perhaps we could use some sort of smoke signal tech to send out limited beacons. They could stack on each other and be able to produce stronger signals. Maybe a civ with 5 people to operate smoke signals could send out a stronger signal to closer people and be able to reach farther at a reduced rate. This could increase communications or even attract eves.

I like the carriage idea I read about on the forums. Maybe it could hold two people or more at the cost of storage space so if one person dies, the whole set of gear isn't lost. We could also use astronomy tech to locate ourselves on the map but that could lead to a meta-discussion between civs that I sense Jason is trying to avoid.

The main point I'm trying to make is that we should be communicating and trading but for some reason we can't seem to do that. Maybe even the bell had a physical marker that could tell us where is coming from and how far. In real life we can gauge how far an object sounds and where its coming from no matter if we have a home marker set or not.

#22 Re: Main Forum » What new tech do you want to see in the game? » 2018-07-30 18:54:26

How about compass tech so we can get coordinates back? Maybe then we could actually migrate in a meaningful direction.
