i agree any food storage would be good, even it is higher up on the tech tree. larger civs have carrots, wheat, berries all over the place
we desperately need the ability to stack more items like crops (carrots, corn, etc.), and seeds which make up a good chunk of the clutter
we need some system where we can replant trees, it would prevent the worst type of griefing/stupidity where someone chops down every tree in the region causing the essential branches and resources to turn up dry.
it could be as simple as picking a seed from a tree, or when you chop down a tree you also can harvest seeds from it.
thoughts?
I would actually think this is very fucking good XD put 4 cabbages in a box shape, four soil on the edges and a gold ingot in the middle and it spawns an eve player asap? Wut you think XD
i really like this idea, it would fix the nihilism experienced by a society that either a. is all old people or b. is all men
it could also put a damper on griefers who effectively destroy a town by murdering all the fertile females, if this was implemented it would be a lot harder for them to do just that.
nothing makes me happier than seeing a family pass the 20+ generation mark and still have the family name
i figured out how to get a good thing going, so first i look for a good location(which is a green biome next to a desert with a plains biome nearby) and while i look, i make all the starting tools. which makes it a lot easier to set up the farm.
once i have a farm set up, i go to the desert and wait to start popping out babies. i try to keep as many as possible, but i found out just asking them what they know how to do is a good way to know who to keep.
i always ask my kids now "do you know how to farm", "do you know how to hunt" ... etc.
after that its up to the kids to carry on the legacy and i would say this strategy has like a 60-70% success rate.
Instead of setting up a good camp I decided early that I would try and save all my kids.

I thought "I won't be one of that eve that just says sorry kid." wish I did, I spent all my life feeding babies, even after I couldn't feed anymore.. Gena and Jamie weren't too bad, they got me food while I was babysitting, but the rest just honestly, they couldn't even feed themselves after they got hair, I had to feed them manually with my food supply. then my last kid said F and instantly died...
7 kids lived to hair. 4 suicided. 2 starved due to running around or too late "F"
a valiant effort.
i figured this out as an eve, first with potatoes (which require a shovel to harvest) then with squash which requires a few extra steps (i starved to death before i could figure out how to make a crock).
i think i am just gonna go to carrots, because they have never done me wrong. and when a town gets a stable food supply i can start experimenting more but i love the new vegetables and i want to try them all! however atm that is a bit hard considering most everyone is first generation.
yay! i am so excited to make some potatoes (and sauerkraut) ooooo and is that stew i see, your spoiling us!
Trick wrote:This game has a steep learning curve. If the elder players don't help teach the newer players, they will continue to be "bad". So, that's partly on you.
I think that this part is reaching. It sounds like you are implying that we are at fault for the skills of
others. The natural implied following statement is that if others are bad at playing etc. it is our fault
we didn't teach them.I don't know about all of you people out there but I looked around for guides, I read the wiki. I alt tabbed
and died over and over looking things up. I don't bother to keep up with the long missed connections
posts but I have read at least 90%+ of the forum.I ask people questions, I listen to people and learn from them. I ask people how to do things in game.
I read all the change logs in onetech etc. etc.I think it is fair to assume that a lot of other people in here can say the same things as me..
If some ass hat in some camp didn't tell me how to do something that wasn't gonna stop me.
I think people are responsible if they want to learn something. If you love a game or anything else really
you explore it and find out more about it. You think about it when you are not doing it, all of that.It isn't my fault that people don't want to look for shit and try to learn on their own.
Even if I told someone to fuck off when they asked how to do something (which I don't) it still wouldn't be
my fault if they don't learn. No one here has any monopoly on knowledge, except for peoples hidden tricks like temp walking used to
be etc. Besides, people are pretty damn open about what we know and are very helpful.
i completely agree, also if you want to learn something (lets say forging or being shepherd) you can just watch someone do it. thats how i learned to forge atleast.
Whenever I say “Old” they think I’m either offending them or don’t understand at all. They let me die every time or they keep picking me up when I try to run to another female.
Try to find a fertile female to feed you. If your mother is too new to understand that when you get old, you can’t breastfeed, then it’s probably a good call to starve anyway.
we need a letter or something similiar to q to signify this very problem im thinking "d" (for dry tits)
Basically a murderer killed everyone and there was 4 people left including me. When I died one of the woman had just given birth.
THERE IS HOPE!
i tend to gravitate to a place with a lot of bushes that borders a swamp and desert, and with a plains biome close.
however often i find that (arguably no fault of my own) that my children always die from lack of food when i start to set up the farm and camp, however after MANY lives as an eve of children dying, i am wondering what other requirements i should look for as far as real-estate goes.
also maybe my process should be refined?
so in step form:
1. find camp
2. get abode kiln built
3. make bowls
4. begin farm (this is a place where i am bit confused, i used to farm carrots before the recent update of soil being destroyed after every harvest, so now i do berries, but i find they take too long. what should i do? or should i continue to start the farm with berries?)
5. hunt rabbits for clothing
6. (admittedly havent gotten this far as an eve)
deserve a special place in OHOL hell
does anyone else just feel like nothing matters when they dont have a name/lastname.
no legacy can be built if its just a bunch of nobodies, it would be nice if nameless children could give themselves a name maybe?
until i roleplayed as a crazy woman spreading the religion of the berry goddess (no disrespect to true believers)
whenever i had a child i would coach them on the basics i learned from another thread (basically you cant leave one or six berries per bush) and then i added some kind of afterlife of "infinite fields" and the only way to reach this is to have a berry placed on your grave. i dont think i got any actual believers on the account i took kind of a crazy approach, but still it was very entertaining.
it was really fun and for once in a big town i wasnt bored out of my mind.
would totally recommend if you want to add some spice just make up a cult
usually as a male i tent to either hunt or do water runs for the village.
there is a surprising amount of people who seem to think that they can just laze around the camp/settlement all day just eating this isnt a specific male problem but at the very least females give birth.
i agree with you OP males should mainly focus on out of camp stuff
I spoke too soon! Apparently I had some female descendants who had not died. I am so proud! I hope they are keeping the commands of the Berry Goddess. Remember the Berry Goddess hates one and six. Do not disappoint her by allowing her sacred bushes to have six berries or one berry on them.
now this is a OHOL religion i can actually get behind
Babies that suicide instantly are not really looking at the big picture, or even considering things very carefully. As a baby, how do you even know if your at a town or not if you are born while she is doing something outside of the town?
well, typically if they are running around with a basket of berries naked its safe to say they dont have a town, or they have a minimal settlement without even fire.
the biggest identifier is nudity, if someone is nude its safe to assume they are also townless, or if they are eve [blank]
The second most annoying thing is having a mother who doesnt pick a last name
so much this i hate when they dont pick a last name and often i feel like "what's the point in me even continuing this 'legacy' if it doesnt even have a name to it?"
we desperately need better means of storage in this game
