Hi All,

First have to say, I'm really loving the game atm, how it's evolved and everything I've seen of where it's going.

One thing I am noticing atm though, is there seem to be about twice as much jungle and desert as any other biomes, with very little green fertile lands.

Two ways this is affecting.

One - especially since the gene update, people seem to be staying safer huddling in towns more. This means less people going out getting rabbits for backpacks and clothes, and there seem to be far fewer villages (at least from my experience) with enough.

Two - this often prompts me to go out and make backpacks. But I spend half my life running round looking for any green to make the rope for rabbit snares (because noone in town seems to have been out lately for ropes). Then inevitably die running accross the 15th jungle surrounding our village before finding even enough for that one rope.

Maybe I'm just having bad luck. But green spaces atm seem to be tiny islands surrounded by deserts, jungles, and maybe snows.

A bit more green and pleasant land would be wonderful!

Also, as a side thought, have you ever thought about adding rivers to the game? They could have lots of fertile soil on their banks, be really easy to plant along the edge of. Provide free water for crops. Boats. River diseases. Bridges to cross. We could have great Nile like deltas. Would make some really interesting lands.

If you wanted to build further different ranks could then also name people big_smile

e.g.
Praiseworthy = can name a watchman.
Extolled = can name two guards.
Great = can name three soldiers.
Magnficent = can name four knights.
Queen = can name a general and five royal guards.

Thinking it would be fun to have something similiar to curses but for good big_smile If say ten people in your life say Praise Eve I you get a title added on your name for the remainder of that life. Open to bribes and rp of course big_smile

Could even be a progression for example:

10x = Eve the Praise Worthy
15x = Eve the Extolled
20x = Eve the Great
25x = Eve the Magnificant
30x = Queen Eve

Might be a fun way to rp support for royalty big_smile (Maybe each person old enough to say the sentance can praise 2-3 people per life?)

if you wanted to extend it further into rp you could even say you inherit 1/3 of your mothers points when she dies (so going fairly to all children, not just the youngest). So a Princess (daughter of a Queen) would automatically be praiseworthy and have a head start on the crown.

#4 Re: Main Forum » Servers as a karma ladder? » 2018-05-03 07:55:43

Maybe there should be some point system on what you do.

Every productive thing raises your karma one point i.e. harvest, plant, water, chop, craft. Etc.

Every thing you eat past the age of say 5 lowers your karma one point. Murder is a big hit.

So, in your life, you'd want to come out more productive than harmful. To help new players, perhaps karma doesn't kick in till your 20th life say?

Oh that's not true. A really nice mum on my first day showed me how to make a home marker. That was really sweet smile I tried to show another new player later, but I got eaten by a bear while trying to show them to use the round rock not the sharp one big_smile

I think everything I've learned I've so far I learned from watching Youtube videos. :S It's the only time there's enough to stop and pause the steps. And I have about 8 reciepes open on my phone from the wiki when I land somewhere new as an Eve - which about 1/3 of the time I seem to.

#8 Re: Main Forum » Newbies: The Path to Failure or Success? » 2018-04-27 15:27:08

As a fairly new player, I'm finding it an incredibly steep learning curve. It's not a game I can come to to relax. I am trying. I've learned a few things. I had one life with a mum who was a really great smith. I tried to watch her without interfering, but she was so quick I couldn't get the hang of what she was doing, and then I felt bad because I couldn't pick it up. I do feel this game is such a rush, it almost punishes you for doing absolutely anything except constantly try to look for water and carrot seeds. I've never yet had a game where I haven't felt bad for taking up resources trying to learn something new. It does put me off playing cause, I don't want to just spent the game forever water and carrot seed running.

Big productive farms never seem to support more than about 4 people. The food always goes out of balance and massive starvation follows. The only succesful farm I've seen with no probs so far was me, a son, and my mum alone, farming into our twighlight years to die out by old age.

#11 Re: News » The Nudity Question » 2018-04-21 09:30:57

I like the setup where it's there by default but people have the mod to remove it. More realistic is good. Lol, in a game where abandoned babies die by the score, teenage mums starve to death on the hunt for food, and whole villages are mauled to death by a bear, do we really care to much about the horror inflicted on us by breasts and genitals?

#12 Re: Main Forum » Missed Connections » 2018-04-17 22:33:12

My name was Griffin. My mother set up a beautiful civilization - but alas all the baby girls ran off and died, so I was her only son. We set up a great farm. When she died I continued to farm and made my first ever set of clothes. We left baskets of food, my set of clothes, seeds, pots, string and meat. I hope one day someone finds our beautiful farm. It was the very first time I died of old age.

Genghis Khan was WAY more brutal than Hitler and no one gives a shit about him anymore.
Mao and Stalin also killed WAY more people than Hitler INCLUDING war-dead.

I think it's more the calculation and methodical nature of it. Starlin starved a lot of people, so it's less direct. Ghengis was probably lucky he was before much recorded documents and media. Hilter and the Nazis planned it to the letter and left copious documents showing how calculated and directed the evil was.

To my lovely family. It was me mum and sis for so long, but we grew to a big happy family. We got lots of rope and were even bringing in the rabbits. The last thing I did was show one of my great nieces were the far away seeds were before I died of hunger age 57. Hope you made it back ok and avoided the bear! Hopefully sometime we might find some new seeds.

It would be interesting to grant men some advantages. Men are protectors, so only men can wield weapons. They can move carts at full speed, females move them at a slower speed. Only males can move big rocks or construct walls. Things like that.

If you are killing all men that are not tireless carrot farmers, you are doing it wrong. The carrot patch is best suited for the women, because it keeps them near a constant food source when raising kids, plus shows the kids where basic food can always be found. It takes the independent focus of a male to pursue things like crafting tools or building infrastructure.

Nah that's boring. Just try to treat your own boys and girls with equal respect.

#16 Re: Main Forum » Is it a crime to kill males ? » 2018-04-16 10:36:40

I try and give everyone a chance. The only situation I can see where it would be fair to kill the boys, is an Eve who can only support one baby and has a boy and a girl. The girl is needed to continue the civilisation.

I spawned in one fairly advanced civ where they were sacrificing all the boys. Seemed to just be for the giggles. So yes, crime. My lovely mum called me Rex and saved me from the baby killers.

So far I've always, at least tried, to support any children I have, though sometimes it's close to impossible and the attempt is short lived.

#17 Re: Main Forum » I am new » 2018-04-15 23:52:45

Aww, today I had an amazing mum, who saved me from a group of ladies who tried to murder all the boys. This was the first of "those" towns I'd ended up in. Anyway my mum was lovely. She named me Rex and cared for me well. She even gave me a knife - which was the first time I'd wielded one big_smile She figured who she thought was murdering lots of people in our town - I probably should have stabbed them. But I hadn't seen any murder so I didn't act - and he shot me. My dying sounds were the sounds of mum calling my name. Awww. Thanks for the care mum, and for making one of my most memorable lives. You were amazing.

#18 Re: Main Forum » I am new » 2018-04-15 16:11:00

Well I reached 37 big_smile Had about 20 odd kids lol.

#19 Re: Main Forum » I am new » 2018-04-15 14:33:20

This game is really hard lol. Can't seem to figure out farming. Does anyone know if it's a good thing to cut burdock?

#20 Re: Main Forum » I am new » 2018-04-15 13:55:17

Hehe, reached 17 and starved with my first kid. Oops.

#21 Re: Main Forum » Armed citizens? » 2018-04-15 12:57:02

Hehe, there's the difference between the black sheep in a family and every other baby trying to murder it's mother. Realistically, how many people do you know who've actually stabbed their mother in real life?

#22 Re: Main Forum » Armed citizens? » 2018-04-15 12:52:11

Hum. Perhaps there should be less chance of successful kills particularly with lower grade weapons? I mean short of a Stewie and Lois type situations, if we're trying to be realistic, how many children really go round murdering their mothers on a regular basis. It's silly.

Lower chance of kill? - Like 10% chance of a critical kill hit, the others just reduce your health or slow you down for the next 10 mins? Most people wouldn't die from a stone knife stab unless it hit a major vein or gut I'd guess.
Opportunities to heal? Plants and herbalists who can save you if you get to them within a minute.

Ways to repair non murder griefer damage -
Someone who overeats too quickly throws up and loses health.
Ways to nurture baby animals from healthy nests to repopulate abandoned ones.
Chance of rain to fill up empty ponds.
Wind blown seeds that have a chance of being blown in from afar to bring in plants wiped out in the local area.

If reality the world may not heal itself quick enough to recover in a generation, but it always does, even if years after the civilisation is gone. The Earth is very good at recoving from devastation in real life on the geological scale.

#23 Re: Main Forum » Armed citizens? » 2018-04-15 11:29:07

Agreed. Any idea how the private servers work. I heard there are some that work without murder? Is that something you'd be interested in? Or are we wanting more of a wider game idea?

#24 Re: Main Forum » feedback - state of gameplay » 2018-04-15 11:25:56

Play the way you'd like people to play with you, or move on and find something more enjoyable. That's what I'll do.

Games should only be played as long as they're fun. Otherwise they're work.

I'm not sure yet exactly how the private servers work either. Might look into them.

Honestly a lot of losers probably start out thinking oh well what the heck, or what's the point. There's lots of ways they can rationalise being a*holes to themselves so they don't actually have to deal with it. I have no sympathy for someone who says there's a problem, I'm bleeding, then stab themselves to make it better.

People who do that deserve to be left with no one to play with. Developers who can't address issues like that deserve to be left with no players.

#25 Re: Main Forum » How is it for Asia players? » 2018-04-15 11:19:09

Also fully in favour of the check before you buy smile The people who say pay without checking will be the same people who cry well you paid for it afterwards if there's something you don't like.

Played one day so far. Quite confusing when you get in. So far most people have been quite nice, only one person telling me I should die - on my very first life, so kinda thought well that's a rubbish reflection to begin. But met about 6 helpful people for the one idiot. I lived to age 14 longest. There's not really much to help you when you first arrive. Lots of people rushing about trying no to die smile So trying to figure out what to do when you can only type one letter is quite disorientating. I'm thinking I will try playing again. So far the forums seem to be worse than the people in the game. But too early to tell yet. If there's too many sadist griefers looking for an easy punch bag to bully for their kicks I might look into the private servers. There do seem to be a few of those happily trumpeting their sadism on the forums here. We'll see.
