Sorry no math here, just a rough sketch of the concept where you can keep an eye on berry bushes in between carrot farming (most important griefing control imo). The idea is to expand downwards and sideways once you figure out the math, the walls are just extras to protect from wildlife. Usually you can get a green biome with a ton of soil (10-20 pits) and then cart up and collect from nearby biomes. I wouldn't worry too much about soil loss in the beginning as you're racing to scale up. This is not a long term play, as long term will require nomadic style travel once soil depletes.
So we've hit 100+ generations exploiting some of the most knowledgeable players on the server + co-ordination.
Next challenge would be to support a full population public server (server 1/2/3)
Challenges: Griefers -> Weapons necessary throughout the village, the layout is designed to spot griefers asap. They will be reborn, they will attack again, you have the numbers so stay vigilant. This example layout tries to condense the village, so there are less chances of stragglers on the outskirts being picked off at a distant berry farm for example. Requires constant farming in a 1:3 ratio of population. This is not sustainable, as you will run out of seeds and/or soil. It is a race against the clock, to try and sustain 30-40 players for a few generations.
I killed Kailied (accident) when chasing Thexus, but then I got some sweet revenge when Thexus spawned in again. The next challenge is support 40 players for at least 3 generations in one village!
I agree with most of you that it was not played the way the game was intended to be played. However it was played the way dedicated/hard core players play, and that style of play is very important in improving a game in the right direction. You need people min-maxing and finding ways to push the limits for the developer to become aware of said limits. The village was great, and huge props to all the guys who put in some serious hours!

I like this idea xP
What is the domestic gooseberry respawn time? I was just at a camp (Weather) that was on the edge of starvation when i aged out because a high number of domestic gooseberries never respawned, and it was far from carrot seeds. (and of course, people weren't gathering them enough.
The food was pretty much picked out, though at least some more carrots were planted. i really want to know if they lived to see the domestic gooseberries respawn, because there were a bunch of them.
Also, harvest all of one plant at once and then harvest it so it respawns sooner! (Though of course, don't leave excess berries in baskets to age and disappear.)
Do the berries in baskets actually disappear?
Had to Sign Up after a lot of engaging and fun hours spent in the game. I've been enjoying Jasons concepts of games for a couple of years now (Castle Doctrine) and I absolutely have to agree.
That suggestion is fantastic and I hope it gets a lot of approval so Jason might reconsider his approach of keeping Servers healthy and less cramped of cluttered cities right now. Having some sort of well balanced decaying for player-created content, adding some sort of randomized "regeneration" of the nature (Soil, Clay, Water, you name it) would ultimately give us a decent content update (by adding lots of new tasks for Settlements) but also reduce Server load and other troubles, if well balanced.
If I had to add another thing, remove Bush griefing completely, it adds absolutely nothing relevant to the gameplay at all. No one sane enough would dig out bushes to make kindling out of them, not if you have tons of forest around you. It simply encourages griefers to harm communities at the cost of people possibly ragequitting for said reason. In the end you will ultimately harm yourself by making masses quit the game to please a few individuals having a "blast" while destroying hours and days of work.
Don't get me wrong, some sort of damaging, killing and harming way has to stay and more should still be added to the game, after all this is also what represents humanity. Not everyone is a hero, hard worker, smart person, leader. Theres cowards, masochists, crazy and malicious people everywhere. But giving them the option with one single shovel to ruin something so important to keep a community alive in mere seconds.. Way too much damage done too easy.
I've got loads of fun with the game as it is, though if the apocalypse mechanic stays in the game as it is (even in the future, with more content, making it harder.. do not underestimate individuals trying to harm others) people will simply run, quit the game and it will end like Castle Doctrine did, with a mere few ones left. I do hope you will take your time and rethink your approach and way of creating your baby, nobody is able to push you into any direction whatsoever, most will understand that your creativity and vision of the game should and will come first. My humble advice, even though im younger, try to listen to your lambs when they offer some serious input just like YAHG did and give it some thought.
Again, YAHG I thank you for these great ideas and I hope people will support your ideas and offer constructive additions.

I know some people are complaining of berry bushes turning into gooseponds etc. It means you need the update, and that will require you to change UseCustomServer back to 0
you should join the official discord server where everyone is discussing
Is it just me, server is crashing a lot. I think every time I get dc'ed the full clothing disappears forever?
Joriom wrote:TrustyWay wrote:Do it.
Short answer: No, Jason will not do that. You don't even need to ask.
Also - why didn't you just make a bow or knife and kill the troll? Where were your guards? Why didn't you have soldiers around?
Have you seen the speed of digging ? If it was slower we could catch him but he can dig while running and ruins easily. I used to guard berryfield but that shit is fast. If it tooks 1 or 2 extra seconds that would be perfect.
yup
Yeah, I completely agree Laura, but I think at this point it's just worth leaving this game and moving onto more enjoyable things to do.
This really is just a PvP game now and you have to go into it planning to kill and make other people unhappy before they get you.I've given up myself and just occasionally check the forums and discord, but unfortunately it looks like Jason's just doubling down on the edgelord game design philosophy (and now letting griefers craft things to kill everyone and wipe all items from entire servers?).
The player count has already dropped by about two thirds since this griefing problem started, there won't be much of a game left to play here soon anyway.
agreed but a solution to this will be really hard to make, but if griefers couldn't kill, they would get bored griefing much faster
A sub forum for servers would also be nice.
didnt jason patch it so you can't choose your server manually anymore?

I am a 11yo because I dont rage when I got 1 shoot like you ? Tell me more about it
Nice one!
Yes, make sure you right click the .exe and make sure it is set to administrator (so it can be overwritten)

The more I read from you, Trusty, the more I am convinced that you have some serious issues. Might want to get a psychological check-up.
Thanks bro, I like your care for me, life is fine. I might be mean but this is so enjoyable.
Trustyway is one of those players who don't give a shit about anything, and only enjoys this game to make others ragequit

does this mean it is okay for me to surround entire settlements with filled trash pits and oven bases?
I also think it's also ok for me to go around wiping out every village i see (sneakily of course) with a knife or bow
This is a game people - focus on actual game-play problems like griefers, not this kind of nonsense.
Really, I just need to keep tweaking it until it's possible for "police work" to take place. Right now, it sounds like there's just not enough evidence to pursue or convict.
What if you could only kill a single person in your life, and everyone would instantly know that? It's not clear that even in this edge case police work would take place.
solid idea! not sure if possible to implement
I have played 50 lives and not once met a griefer, to my knowledge, this problem seems gravely overstated, I have much bigger problem with noobs "oops"ing the carrot seed row because nobody talks to anyone in this game, but I have never been murdered or witnessed a murder take place.
If you really think this game is over I have a solution, PM me your game key, I'll gladly give it to friends of mine who want the game but can't scrape together $20.
Truthseeker, makes one shitpost and disappears
Maybe we do need a lot more weapons in villages. But the problem with that would be tons of newbs just grabbing them and initiating killings... the difficulty of crafting the weapons is what keeps only experienced players using them. If you can make a knife, it means you've already played and grasped enough of this game to at least semi-respect hard work and not grief like some of the kids. Griefing is left for really low IQ players who are probably griefing because they hate their own real life.
