I would love to have it smile  Maybe not permanently, but for a week or two. We would have hippie stoner towns. People trying to craft a cart for the whole life, while getting constantly high from pie in backpack... LOL

You know da way

I would love to be able to give people mushrooms again.

That makes sense. I am still wondering how the fuck did he make 15 gigs of text files?

Those files might store line of text per each frame of recording - that is 60 lines per second. Which includes mouse positions.
Also - it includes every chunk of the map you received and all player updates in text form... a lot of messages.

There should be a way to select if you want to record or not. Or at least a rotating file (oldest deleted when space is required). Maybe even upload the data to an official server after the game. I can't afford to keep multiple gigs of data on my hard drive for finding game bugs.

I was born to that village. Its on server 3. I spent half my life carrying that sign around.

I started out as an eve. Had a baby almost instantly. Was going to let him die, but I started to see chopped trees. So I picked him back up and named myself Wolf. The farther north I went the more signs of civilization I saw. Till I came to the heart of it. It was beautiful there were roads, clothes, a farm ready for harvest, baskets of pies. From the looks of it an epic battle happened there before I arrived. I spent the rest of my life focusing on population growth. I had 6 kids who survived. I died of old age while cleaning up graves. I respawned back in the same town. After I found some clothes I found my corpse and recovered my crown. This life I dedicate to supplying the farm with soil. One trip back I was down to 2 food bars because someone emptied my emergency bush. I drop my cart and grab a carrot. Then all of a sudden this bitch who clamed to be a guard kills me with a bow and arrow. When I ask why she said seeds. She was so focused on finding someone to kill that she was oblivious to the box full of seed baskets that I filled 2 trips before. Killing someone over seeds is only acceptable if the row you are guarding is the only seeds there are. Otherwise a simple warning is sufficient. If I see anyone kill someone unjustly again, you will be labeled a greifer and will be dispatched as such.

I vote to sticky this so it’s always on top.

This is the most informative and complete beginners guide I’ve seen so far.

No, no I believe I misphrased it. I can run it, I am even able to write a review and update it! However the actual game is slower than a crawl. I cannot even type a single letter. I died from disconnection on my first life. There are black squares everywhere.

Most of this games lag and connection issues are on the server side of things.

The graphics doing weird things is ether from mushrooms or the client and server are running different versions.

The requirements for this game are so low that unless you are using windows 98 you should be able to run it. I have personaly tested this game on computers all the way back to windows 2000. The hardware was original to the system.

Could you post the specs of your computer. I am certain that the community here as well as myself would be more than happy to help you get up and running.

i'd daresay you're right on the mark there, but i don't think it's a good way of dealing with the problem. it's absolutely frustrating to see the game stagnate instead of advance - feels like one step forward and three steps back lately. i'm sure it's not going to last forever, but neither is my interest in the game.

plus i know for me personally, the game trailer gave me the impression that there was quite a backlog of big tech updates already waiting for us that he would implement in chunks every week. it was a bit of a disappointment to realise that this wasn't the case at all.

I got the same impression. I feel the game was brought to market too early. Jason also underestimated the capability and dedication of the player base.

#12 Re: Main Forum » The game is really hard to play with all these non English speakers. » 2018-04-21 06:50:38

You know a language problem is an issue when the non-native English speaker is the first to speak up.

I personally haven’t had an issue with it. I usually operate in the background independent of the population seeing to it that things run smoothly. Ex: fill water skins, help with pies and harvest, find seeds and rabbits, etc. I find that anything more than 2 or 3 word takes too much time that could be spent on the task at hand.

You know, I think the best approach might be to wall off each area. So have like the bush area, the carrot farm area, then wheat area, pie area. Then connecting each area is a room full of food. That way whenever you enter a new area, you have to cross a food room first. Then you are full and got food so not going to go picking berries for food, or dig up seed carrots for food.

That kind of set up would produce lag so bad nobody could play

#14 Re: Main Forum » To all my babs and grandmother; I'm sorry I was a terrible person » 2018-04-19 21:37:15

I was your cousin. Your grandmother instructed me to keep the village going. I quickly realized that there were no more females. Then I found you. I said that you were our last hope. Then I told you to survive and reproduce and it sounds to me that you did just that. Its a dangerous life. Look at what happened to me, I told you I would take care of food. Well I went looking for seeds and ended up getting eaten by a wolf just south of town. I meant to help you survive but fate stepped in.

Just because you survive longer than some of your children doesn’t make you a bad mother. It makes you a mother that tried her best. Its ok to mourn their loss but you are not at fault. The way I see it you did exactly what was asked of you and did a wonderful job. The village survived longer than you. Thats the best outcome I could have hoped for when I left you.

I am proud of you and I am sure your grandmother is as well.

#15 Re: Main Forum » New server. 1/3 food decrease. » 2018-04-17 13:11:59

All server functionality issues have been resolved. I had to reset the server to make it work correctly. (Sorry about the old map. I know we all put a lot of work into it)

Notable points:
- Apocalypse is disabled
- Spawn point is permanently set to 0,0
- The City is north/east from spawn
- Bell tower is almost complete
- Food decrease is still 1/3 of normal

I welcome anyone to play here. Lets turn this small city into an empire.

This issue came up during the last update. Im not sure what has been causing it. A real world situation prevented me from addressing it sooner. I will be looking into it further in the next couple days. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Our-one-life.com has been verified to be working. I have disabled apocalypse.

If you get the error “login failed” just try agian.

#19 Re: Main Forum » 2nd Apocalypse » 2018-04-06 09:29:02

Look at all of you people getting pissy just because a solution was found for stagnant servers. I for one am very pleased about this new update, as now I can reset my server and installed all of the updates that I missed. Without having to worry about backlash from my users.

I apologize, seems I was incorrect, the file was NOT read only but I am still unable to launch the game because it's in a read only location. This isn't making sense because the read only box is NOT checked.

Not sure it will help but what I had to do was move whole folder to My Documents, adjustment “read only” setting. Another thing you could do is have the .exe file run as administrator. If it turns out to be an issue with windows 10 I can’t help. I refuse to use windows 10 due to security concerns. Hope this helps.

#21 Re: Main Forum » New server. 1/3 food decrease. » 2018-04-01 04:22:50

I’ve been experiencing a couple things with my server and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well.

I check the terminal periodically throughout the day to make sure everything runs smoothly. Well after a couple days of running continuously, it won’t let anyone on till I manually restart it. The cause of death it gives is “write socket failed”. If anyone is unable to login, please leave a comment here and I will restart the server. I will be notified of anything posted in this thread.

The other issue I am having is that I am unable to update the server without resetting the map. I would like to get tis solved before future vital updates are released.

READ-ONLY LOCATION ISSUE:
I have tried putting it in my download file, documents and in my hard drive and each time it tells me I have it in a read only location. How do I fix this? Is there a setting I need to change?

Right click on the folder, go to properties. Make sure “read only” is not checked

Im curious about this. Where did you get those generation numbers from? I plan on researching this on my server.
