How to build corners?

I rarely build anything in this game, but this time an old man asked me to finish building from a stone.
And somehow I couldn't build the corner,
I always had another wall in the direction in which I was building the previous one.
Even when I put the corner first, it became a wall when I built the wall next to it.
Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?
Has anyone tried building after the last patches?

Only a new building. "corners" appear when you have adjacent horizontal and vertical walls. I only did a single outer shell though, no interior walls or bends, and only one material.

corners are either corner or 2 way splits

So basically the wall you put down before will auto-adjust to the walls next to it. Put one above/below it and another to the left or right, and the first one should turn into a corner piece
