Almost all of the kills I have made since the change have been by knife too.
People rush up to me with either the sword or bow drawn. They think I dont see them trying to rush me, and dont see the knife in my bag or pocket. I rush to meet them halfway and get the first click because they get startled by their target now running at them instead of away.
Interesting, so it would seem people are still dumb when it comes to that sort of thing I guess you win this round of theorycrafting vs how things actually play out. Seems people aren't smart enough to attack first with their bow or are hesitant.
I honestly have no idea why it works and maybe I'm just lucky, but I think people just kinda let their guard down if they think they're getting an easy kill. When they chase you down they're thinking they got an easy win and can do it at their pace. Then all of the sudden their prey pulls a knife and rushes them and probably scares the shit out of them for a split second.

I'm flying high. But the worst is never first, and there's a person that'll set you straight. Cancelling the force within my brain. For flying high. The simulator has been disengaged.

Yeah I think that's part of the reason it works. I've beaten a bow before by pulling a quick snowball out but that's the only time that's worked for me. Any time I've ran into another armed person with knife or sword I've just ran them over to a snowbank by pretending to drop my weapon or letting them do the offensive part.

I'll take note of this, hopefully I get this lucky next time

Snowballs have been changed to just trigger an emot and nothing else (they no longer make you drop what you are holding or make you cold).

Aww.. can we at least get a ranged boomerang that only disarms? You could also throw it at a tree and get a bird (for foods and maybe different feathers)

auto aim is still bad
we need cooldown on it
i get that someone can defend a range
but then don't allow to move on you so fast
zero chance to run away or reliate
at least before the arrow was missing if you moved
im totally fine if they cant let me run toward them
im not fine on one on ones to have zero defence
still 2 or 3 people can cover a range and flat rock roads in case of hit and run griefers with sword
im tired of getting killed bt inferior skilled people
auto aim on mêlée is fine if times out in like 10 sec max, not like the other game i was almost starving and i was still aggro for 3 minutes
but maybe just defensive, not like you aim and run on top of him full speed
also would be much better if you can take a few hits before you go down
each having some side efect: first cools you down like mosquitoes, second takes off from food bars, third will add crippling damage if you move and 4 kills you
and shorter slowdown penalty
also some sort of mêlée disarm would be nice, like long shaft short shaft rubber for a police baton
non deadly and just disarms target
no weapon if no storage so people wont hold weapons in attack state and wont hold items you need
also non lethal combat would be great way of entertainmemnt and preparation for real fights
annd enough to punish people with a good beat em up, no straight killing for possible griefers but some debuff so we can explain what they shouldn't do
and would be a thig to get ready for fights so noobs wont need auto aim, and can blame themselves if they suck
it's not fun to get killed while moving when they cant even predict a tile where you standing
and not balanced to die like that when you didn't do anything to piss them off
it's not really a war if no one knows about it, it's an ambush, backstabbing, betrayal
weneed either war threaties or some sort of town bell which is like an alarm singalling that females should run to safety with kids, to a locked gate/room, and males drop their tools and kill intruders

Wouldn't a boomerang be used by a griefer?
The idea here is that killing is a last resort, but once you decide to do it, it just happens. There is no execution or dodging or dancing or any two ways about it. Someone decided to kill you. If you don't have friends who can heal you, you will die.

Except now killing is the ONLY choice we have, period. At least with snowballs we had some sort of non-lethal way to disarm people, even if it was overpowered with the autoaim function. Now we really have 0 options whatsoever.
Killing should be a last resort. Now it's the only resort.
I'd give you a suggestion [a bola, for instance] but I don't have 15+ years of experience and am not a game designer so what do I know :^)

Isn't food also used by griefers? That's it everyone we need to stop food production so we can stop the griefing menace of ohol.
As stated, the snowball worked as either an offensive or defensive option (we now have no defensive option) which could either be used to slap someone on the wrist or be used to prime someone for a stabbing. I don't know why whether the bad guys can use it matters at this point since you openly support something that negatively impacts the game. You won't ever stop griefing fully but you shouldn't open the flood gates and let it run wildly rampant like what was going on with all the Eve Tarr raids (aka Eves were spawning solely to attack towns with no recourse or real ways to stop them.)

Using the word s*ggestion is going to get you in trouble. I s*ggest you study up and come back in about a decade and a half before trying to post things like that.

Well yeah they could.. carrots can be eaten intentionally by griefers as their main food when they lose a single pip. Doesn't mean carrots need anymore tweaking though.
I could cope with having friends that could heal me if most of the time they COULD heal me.. stabbings usually only get treated half of the time. In ALL of my lives ive only been saved from an arrow wound once.
Maybe a slight med revamp then?
My ideas would be to change the bowl of sterile pads color (hell just put a red cross on it) and maybe make something other than a knife be able to remove a arrow head.

no killing is first resort for some 8 year old kids
they got nothing to lose
and someone who already has clothes, a job and plans, best case scenario they kill the attacker and lose time
worst case scenario they lose everything
best case scenario others don't care, worst case scenario others kill and curse him for killing a griefer
the other day we used 6 pads and heal each other 2x and the griefer was healed and the paranoid old lady was killed, and i realised that is the wrong guy, and the guy who looked exactly like him came and stab 2 people with sword
the only reason i survived cause the lady decided that im reasonable so was a quick team up
but the other day i was saved and someone died for me, i revenged it but still wont help her that much
do you seriously expect that half of our lifes is making fences, making pads and talking with others for case of emergency which might or might not happen? and stand around others who can heal us frightened that any of the kids is a griefer?
i killed my own daughter cause she told that i want to kill her
the result would be the same if they believe her so might as well just do it, also she was looking for weapons
lot of times i just laughed on people that they want to kill me, now my gameplay is ruined if i don't react on a threat or if i react on it
we got a pact with older players but i likely will be cursed by newer players cause they don't see how a naked 8 year old kid is a griefer and you worked 50 min for them, they just say "oh poor kid"
you should do casino games, "if you want to win you will win"
very realistic, "Germany should have won the world war cause they wanted to win and attacked first"
there is a serious skill gap in skill and you overvalue bad intentions over skill
the griefer dance is a benny hill show? you should see the chain kills where no one knows who is which side and the pads get used in 20 sec and yo u cant afford to save the useful people but the griefer is saved twice

Latency should have nothing to do with it.
You can shift-right-click on someone without them being in range of your weapon. You are then in kill mode against them, and if they ever get in range, they die.
If two people are in kill mode against each other, with the same-range weapon and they come within range, then the one who entered kill mode first wins. But again, this has nothing to do with latency.
The only way latency would be a factor is if you see someone before they see you (because their client is lagging).
This doesnt work exactly like that, I´ve been stabbed twice being at least two tiles away from my attacker both running in the same direction.
- I believe the term "Berrymuncher" is derogatory and therefore I shall use the term "Berrier" instead.
