With the 3-hour lineage ban in place, how many players end up being Eve?
Before the ban, on Saturday, May 5, there were 9852 spawns, and 1148 were Eve, for about 11% Eves.
The average life expectancy was 9.6 years.
After the ban, on Saturday, May 12, there were 8487 spawns, and 1299 were Eve, for about 15% Eves.
The average life expectancy was 12.3 years.
There is a consistent jump before/after the ban from about 9-10 years life expectancy before up to 12-13 years after.
Not sure if this can simply be explained away as the extra Eves padding the expectancy up (since they spawn at 14), or if there was an actual reduction in baby suicide and baby abandonment.
I need to filter it so that I only consider deaths before age 14 to get a better picture of infant mortality.

for me nothing changed
i still suicide as female baby
get abandoned often as well
see often other babies suicide too
playing Eve alone is boring
maybe instead to concentrate on death you could concentrate more on the life, to make it worthwhile living
like adressing murder for the benefit of the victim : medicine, two strikes needed, positive/negative karma ?

Just from playing i feel there was a drop in baby abandonment. I only play one or two games a night now, but it only takes me 1-4 respawns to find a mom willing to care for me. Used to be wayyyy worse. Ive even played as a boy in some of the lifes. Very liberating.
However i tend to spend my whole life building a sheep pen every time.... somehow i dont think it takes sixty years to build a sheep pen.... but regardless big fan of the lineage ban. Has made griefers far less common to see in a single given life.

Please this
i know it is a huggggeeee undertaking, but if every life is supposed to be a unique experience (and it really doesn't feel like it right now) we need more variety, and more ways to set ourselves apart.

Afaik we are not fertile at 14?
Sometimes I still spawn as Eve and I can hear my baby plop out before I spawn.
It is nice when you have a lil time to get your bearings before you are preggers. I like being
daughter of Noob Eve cause if I live I can just run away to start my own town with blackjack
and hookers..

I feel like the addition of more wild food was a great step forward for Eve and the wild families. Cactus fruit, burdock, onion... all good!
I'd love to see fishing rods for ice holes, but not sure how hard that would be to implement.
I love being able to clonk a seal on the head as a 10 yr old and drag back the fur in my opposite hand while holding a rock. It's such a nice feeling bringing back furs to my struggling family.
This game is slowly upgrading. This is good!

Loads of stuff is coming that will add variety. Fishing, clothes, etc.
But I do want to get the core of the game right before I do this.

Here's the infant mortality data:

nothing changed, i want to get back to my city to continue a big project, or enjoy a life in a city where is all setup to start with clothes and packs and focus on building not for revenge or grief
i still play as eve once a day, maybe if i spawn directly into a nice spot i settle, if i got more time
eve life is boring, choosing spot before first baby is impossible
lot of people dont know about the ban and abandon me even when they clearly got resources
raising a baby is boring/ no time for it cause my civilization never advances
i see less berry, wheat and milkweed planted as people dont care about next generations
10 babies are too much, still no control over it, they spawn too quick after each other, how do you expect to teach when i just explain to one something, holding it, then comes the other one who missed it, feeding a baby, your baby at least, should reset the timer, more sons would be abandoned maybe, still low baby value, especially sons are neglected
giving birth on horse is annoying, too many times i born to a mom who is scavenging for supplies, going with a horse, and they got a civilization, ofc an eve who has nothing tries to raise me to starve or run all my life
also i wont keep a baby when i got a cart, and kinda no chance to keep when im far from city.
if the baby was never picked up, while not moving away from mother, not moving x tiles is abandoned
if the baby was running away, jumping off hands and the distance between mom and he/she increased is suicide
if they ask to follow they stop, if they run away and you after is abandoned
not sure if can be programmed to detect
make it easier as eve, more wild food, spawn closer to other eves? give them an Adam? give more building materials?

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

give them an Adam?
Now that is an interesting idea. Several people have asked for a cooldown period to get established before having children. Often times I have to ask myself "Am I the baby or the Eve?" because it is not uncommon to immediately have a baby as Eve. Perhaps the first would-be-child becomes Adam? There would be an adult to keep foraging without having try and be back before the kids starved. Possible downside being Eve has no control of that first other player if she hasn't found a place with sufficient food yet.

I just played after a couple of days off and its been fantastic- no child abandonment, and I've actually spawned into big towns for a change! Was nice being town pie maker for a bit instead of a subsistence farmer
