So this is pretty crazy one of the biggest towns on the arc is in the badlands desert and tundra and surprisingly it works! The badlands is just like a green biome when civilized and cleared out and it spawns next to snow jungle and desert biomes which are great for rare resources. You could have oil very close to a town and iron even spawns in the badlands! You could possible have a oil rig close to your diesel mining area and you could setup a kiln and fractional distiller their and supply it with starting iron and food to make a self sustainable iron mine all in the same area. Also if your living in the badlands you could have a jungle and desert nearby that would allow you to make a very easy rubber making station. I see so much potential for effiecent rare resource mining but the only big drawlback is the fact that pre diesel towns in badlands are going to have a BAD time.

Yeah, it looks like this town only appeared after about 24 hours in the pre-update arc, and I'm not really sure it qualified as a town then. Probably started as an oil/mining outpost from the other nearby towns.

i mean it's not first time it happens, i seen people quit on me cause i choose weird spots, not even bad spots, like the base was in between 3 green biomes, the only downside of other biomes is trees, which you can plant, the pen can make soil, the water is same, some places you get lot of free tiles and decent stone, will require 90 min of setup but then only advantages
