Now with the new ladders, the family has easier way to climb up and down to tarry spots, bonus, they are items, so you don't step on animals either

only thing that they last 13 minutes so you actually need to smash them again in 3 so they leave long lasting garbage behind

how many times you see people picking up fences?
how many times you see people going 80 tiles out from a camp?

sure they can, but it's something boring, i think most of them would follow a man made line (i don't think 13 min makes it viable, but maybe you can convince people to make a road next to it

an older sis gathered adobe (she didn't dig them just cut and mix with clay)
she was like "noo " when i took some but told her is too far and bad spot, so i made a fence line to wait what she decides, she said ok you can move
i smashed some around the fence and was obvious to her whats the plan, so before most of them solidified we put around enough to close it up and we removed the fences.

i made a boar fence so boars cant come too close to the farms, just cut down a part of swamp with it, every spot that was conencted or could have been skipped trough , old lady smashed when it got approved, she got what i wanted with it

people who go explore further, are the smarter ones, they will follow a path of garbage to see what it signals

also we can write with them for zoom users

make it meta that we use fences as roads
then maybe jason realizes that we need dirt roads

Yeah, the property fences are used for quite a few things not relating to property.

I've seen these fences laid out connecting towns and distant gathering spots instead of roads for one.

i myself picked them up already by accident

i am also atm not interested in decorative usage, only in practical

& you're right
we need dirt roads among many other useful simple to make stuff,
which would make life more interesting, more diverse

Personally I would love to see quarries for more stone and macadam roads. Just smash a rock further and instead of a single floor tile you can now make 5 or 10.

Yeah, but they decay...
thats the big problem, not many people will take care of it
