#1 Re: Main Forum » How many old players still play? » 2019-06-20 16:07:24

I still play pretty often when I'm bored or nothing else to do. About a month ago, I did take a two or three-month break.

I've been playing this game since I was 15, and I'm 17 now. Pretty odd to think about, kind of cool to grow up alongside the game.

#2 Re: Main Forum » The Murderous Starr Family » 2019-05-22 16:24:10

I see your point @ MultiLife but I just have to say that it is apart of the game. Obviously, Jason at some point is trying to make war and murder an actually viable mechanic. Like Buggy said earlier, at some point, it will start being beneficial killing other families. More resources, expansion, etc. etc.

Now in my case, "ruining" their session was pretty pointless I do admit, but hey I'm hoping from the popularity of this thread Jason starts adding defensive updates like guard dogs or better-suited walls. Change only comes from a necessity for it.

After living a life in which I got unjustly killed, I do somewhat feel bad. I would never quit this game over being murdered, as I'm pretty much an addict to this. However, I can see why the more casual/new player will probably put the game off or go murder some people for the heck of it.

#3 Re: Main Forum » The Murderous Starr Family » 2019-05-22 16:09:58

That is fair @ Spoonwood. But... If Jason made that possible then what happens when a family rightfully murders another one? What prevents the family that was murdered from sending other people to Donkey Town for no good reason. Also, that can be used as a mean of harassment of griefers. Get a group of friends and send someone to hell for no good reason.

If anyone cares, I did just get some cosmic payback on my next life. I'll keep it short. Gingerhead family, I was going to be a rabbit hunter, make fur for everyone. On my second trip back, I saw a murder skeleton. Then another one. The culprit was my Aunt. By the grace of the Berry God himself, three foreigners showed up. One had a knife and quickly took my aunt out. I thanked her the best way I could, and I stopped my cousin from murdering her.

I came back from my trip of collecting a cart full of rabbits for the family. The foreigners had multiplied and could be considered another family living there, I think they brought more people over from their village. Without warning, a girl came up and stabbed me. I guess she assumed as I was random foreigner going to kill them since I hadn't been in the village for a good 20 minutes. The two who saved me from earlier started yelling and were to slow on the heal so I died.

So I guess at the end of the day; violence breeds more violence, and don't trust foreigners.

Was going through the Tillack family trying to confirm the kill count, but I believe the village elder was from an entirely different town or at least was born from another family.

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=4549538

I combed through her line and her third, second, and first cousin lines and could not find anybody else murdered by us. Either I'm missing the family line that had been killed or she was born from a different place, came there, etc. etc

Instead of putting good out to go around, you chose grief.
You suffered the end of an Eve camp, and went to end another family.

How sad. I guess that's what happens when you achieve the level of "I don't care about others".
I've not played at all with swords in the game and these stories make me even less interested to do it. Just to be a sheep to slaughter, for the heck of it.

I've played this game for 300+ hours, this is my second-time ever killing someone with just the intention to kill. To try something out is not inherently evil. I know the way I wrote the story (which if you can't tell is dramatized) made it seem like I wiped the entire family. We at most killed four players plus a player about to die within the next two or three minutes. The village was way larger than that, and I for fact saw a little girl run off into the woods.

Would've have been a better idea to try and kidnap one of their girls. Don't make shitty excuse's, You weren't forced to grief.

Now I do admit, that would have been a much better outcome. If I had thought about, I would have most likely done this than launch an attack.

Why apologize if you already admitted that you don't feel bad?

What a waste.   That family deserved better.

I don't. I wasn't apologizing for the act, but that it had to be that family specifically.

Bloody griefer.

I don't really get you people. Can't separate playing with provided mechanics and griefing.

My family slaughtering four people + elderly woman is NOT griefing. I guarantee there was more than just five people in the village, not only that I also saw a little girl run off.  An example of griefing would be me hunting down every single member of the family, ruining all the food, filling everything with salt water (I think Jason fixed that) etc. etc.

What this conversation made me realized is that right now this game is giving to much power to the offensive side. Walls aren't really enough to protect against foreign invasion. However, since I fully believe in Jason he probably will add something that will level the playing field. (Or spend a month providing us with useless technology, who knows.)

We didn't start that way. We weren't born evil, our environment made us that way.

I was an eve freshly starting out, I've invested hundreds of hours into this game so it wasn't my first rodeo. Found the spring line, followed it to a good place and started setting up. My first kid came pretty quick, by the time he was old enough to pick up a stone he was helping his Mother set up camp. I had a couple /die babies, then I got my first girl. A sweet little thing. After that, I got another son who I accidentally named Becky.

Life was going good for us Starr's. The camp was looking good, Sun, my firstborn, was skilled at the game. He had already set up a smith before we could even start the farm up. Becky wasn't bad either. I went to look for some iron for the smith and came back to four rows of fully planted berry bushes. While my boys were running around, I noticed my girl was missing. I asked Becky had he seen her, and he said no. I went to Sun and asked him and he said no. I didn't want to panic about it just yet so I went back to tending to the farm. That is when Sun came back with the bad news. He had found the corpse of my little girl, and I was too old to have any more children.

It is really depressing when you have a fully ready starter camp to find out the only girl had died. At first, I told my boys to go off into the wild and try to find a village to call their own. But then Sun told me about a town he had spotted earlier. Becky said only one word... "War??" Instantly I knew what I wanted to do. The boys packed their belongings. Sun had already found a war sword from a dead town, and I gave my knife to Becky. We packed and we rode out.

It was a long walk, but we made it there in time. Our first victim was a little girl, she had a bowl in her hand so I assume she was going to get water. I could tell my boys were hesitating, not going in. Of course, the little girl stopped, started speaking in her foreign tongue. Whatever she said was her last words. I shouted at my boys, "Kill them all!" Sun hesitated but Becky did not. Becky stabbed the girl without a sense of care. She was obviously shocked. We ran into the town and started laying waste to the town.

It all ended in mere seconds. I was surprised by how many my boys managed to kill in the short time we arrived. I counted at least four dead. One of the boys said he saw a young girl running off north. He wanted to give chase but I told him no. That is when the village elder came back. She started shouting at us in her foreign tongue but we did not care. Sun quickly stabbed her in the gut, shutting the old hag up quickly.

We stood there for a minute before we started gathering supplies. Crazy. The village had buildings, oil, and engines. Within the matter of a minute, all that work was destroyed with the slash of a blade. I should feel bad, but I don't.

The boys and I packed up what we found and began heading off, aiming to wipe out another town but then karma hit. I wasn't paying attention when a wolf came from behind a tree and ripped my entrails out. Becky was the first to notice, crying out a sorrowful no. Sun came back when he noticed that we weren't following.

I told the boys I love them, and that I was getting old anyway. We decided that this was going to be the end of our family. Becky took up a sword and killed Sun, and then starved himself afterward.

My apologies to the Tlliack family.

TL;DR: Build walls.

If you were apart of this family,

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=3471671

Finish the walls me and my older sister, Arkan, started on. My goal was to make four big walls that were large enough to enclose the camp with two exits out of town. It would be cool if it got finished as I've never seen anything like it before on this game. My sister and I started on the bottom east to west wall, please make sure it goes a little pass the sheep pen, I was scared that someone would cut the pen off. Anyway, good luck.

It was my fault the family line died. We had a great city by the end, endless food, all new fancy machines, and I was working on a car.

I had three sons that survived and one daughter. We were the last family alive, my daughter was the last fertile female. She caught yellow fever, I tried to feed her but I picked up a burrito plate instead of just the burrito. She starved to death, because of me.

After that, I just took the horse and rode west hoping to find someone to keep our city alive. I found no one, and on my ride, I eventually died of old age.

I'm sorry. We had a good run.

Just two or three weeks ago the game was at a stagnate 60 count for players... But this week its doubled in size. Does anyone know the cause? I feel like it had something to do with the tutorial update, maybe revived a lot of hope in the players who couldn't grasp the game good enough.

#11 Re: Main Forum » Why don't you just kill anyone without a name? » 2018-07-09 22:36:04

At this point, Jason should it make so if you're unnamed when you're an adult you can just name yourself. It makes sense in reality and it will complete erase the problem of unnamed people.

#12 Re: Main Forum » Why don't you just kill anyone without a name? » 2018-07-09 22:28:32

Their is legit no reason to not be named at this point in the game. Not do only new players know how to name, Jason just added where anyone can name a baby. Be it a man, a woman, or a complete stranger to the family. Even no name adults can name babies. (Just they won't have a last name)

So I am all for killing people without a name. If you're a baby and your mother doesn't name you, your life goal should to get someone to name you. If you fail before you're grown, oh well.

#13 Re: Main Forum » Any cursed babies yet? » 2018-07-09 01:27:15

Can we just make it a rule of thumb not to raise babies that refuse to speak or be named? No point in raising a potential griefer.

I think I just found my new main occupation!

The tutorial you mentioned will be so useful. I got two friends to buy the game but, their completely helpless and I can't really get in game to help them! So a tutorial to at least teach them the basics will be awesome.

Tony, that was my name. I was born to a single mother who loved me dearly. I think I was her favorite, she made sure to always check on me. I've spent my early years lost for the most part, until the murders started in our town. Thats when I took up my bow and went down to hunt the man known as Bertha, I didn't claim his life but I watched the wolf who did. After that, I became a berry farmer.

I've always had my eye on you. You and I were the best berry farmers in the entire town. No one could outspeed us when we worked together. You put the soil on the berry bushes and I watered. The town had no worries when it came to a food source from our berries. You were always more talkative than me. Being a little busy body. I was much much more quieter. I tended to my own. I didn't know many people, the only person who I talked to besides you was mother and she left me.

To my suprise, you asked me. "Would you marry me?" with a coy little smile. I had never seen you act so nervous. You knew the repercussion our marriage would bring. We were both males and not mention you only being a teenager while I was already balding... but, I couldn't bring myself to say no to you. I chuckled and said yes. We lived happily that way, but when you grew older seeing the other woman foster children while you could never. You wanted a baby, and as always I couldn't say no to your soft brown eyes. So... I kidnapped a child... Bill, you loved him at first sight. We raised him together. I began to grow older, becoming gray and wrinkled. You didn't seem to care... oh how wrong was I to believe that you didn't care.

While I was out getting some water from the nearby pond, I came back to find you with him... TIM. You called him your lover, and to my surprise he had brought you a new little baby boy. My heartbreak instantly turned into murderous rage. I found the bow I used to hunt down the killer Bertha and found some arrows... I marched back to our berry farm.. You begged me not too, but your charms wouldn't work on me now...

I shot you dead... I called you all kind of names as you beg for them to heal you... I thanked the Pieman that the pads were dirty and you died right there. Don't worry, they avenged you. They shot me in my chest and then let me starve to death as I bleed out.

Burn in hell you little slut...

I was so confused on what the kid was saying, all I could say was "Nice". Dang if I knew you cared so much I would have thanked you! I was the little wood worker. I think this life:

Absolutely yes. The game's price is nowhere near worth the many hours you will get out of it.

Yes it can be somewhat hard at the beginning but, once you get the hang of it you will be very entertained. The bugs are very small and like earlier stated more funny than game braking.

With this kind of statistics you are seriously underestimating the impact of griefing.  Just one example (don't have a link - can I search somehow for lineages from few days ago?).  In lineage it looks like only two or three people were killed by griefer.  What's the deal, right?  How about others killed by grizzly bear?  It was lured in by the griefer before he started killing himself.  How about those that starved while running from armed greifer?  Those also are his victims.  Kid starved after his mother was killed?  Griefer victim.

Your missing the point. Again, it's easy to grief in this game. But being murderer via a knife griefing is extremely rare. Point of the post (and I guess by association Jason's) is to tell people that being killed by a knife isn't big as a problem as the forum may make it out to seem. And the two situations you just listened are so damn rare. I gurantee the instances you named only happened once or twice in actual game.

Griefing in large is a very big problem. There are plenty of other ways to grief in this game, so many ways. My point isn't to say that griefing isn't a thing. Its the point that mass killing or getting killed by a knife isn't a problem at all anymore.

I repeat DON'T LISTEN TO THE FORUMS.

I do not know what it is with these post about "game is ruined by killing" or "I've been murdered so many times" etc. etc.

This is so wrong. In actual reality, the chances of you being killed in this game is about... every 30 lives or so. Being killed is an extremely rare thing. The process to make a knife takes a very long time not to mention that 95% of players are just players not killers.

And at this point in game, its currently near impossible to ruin it via killing. With the new scream, murder corpse, last breath mechanics, and slowing down it is almost impossible for the murderer to kill an entire village without being caught. Unless the village is filled with incompetent people than I can gurantee the murderer will only kill about two or three people before being stopped.

Also do not believe these complicated plans about, "just wait outside the village for people come out." These plans always require time, and the game does not give you much time. By the time the murderer kills two people who went outside the village (btw its very unlikely someone goes far out of the village for anything.) they are already dying from either starvation or old age. And with the last breath mechanic, people can run back in time and scream bloody murder.

So I repeat one last time, DON'T LISTEN TO THE FORUMS. They are completely inaccurate when it comes to certain shit.

It is very easy to grief in this game. However, griefing by killing isn't one of them.

...? Have you all gone mad? Everyone knows their only one true god, and he goes by Berry Christ, god of the Berry Bushes. His titles range from Feeder of Eve, Creator of Village, Man of Sheep, Don't Eat Last Berry, Berry Bush Savior, and many many more. Do not worry, he will damn you to compost hell for not believing him. But he will not stand for such disrespect of his name that he isn't even MENTIONED in this fourm..

Looks like were getting family last names and names in the next update! I'm seriously excitied with this as we now can keep long family lines neat and organized!

I got a pretty neat idea; what if we had last names equate to a job! So from birth, you already know what you need to do your village. Say you have the last name is Smith, that obvious means your a blacksmith! Also works in a way, that we will always know what jobs are filled and what jobs need filling. Example being, say the last name for farmers is Carrotsions.. You go looking around the village and notice that their is a lot of Smiths but no Carrotsions! So you now you know to control the population for Smiths, and make sure the Carrotsions reproduce!

That's just one idea, and it has its own problems. Main one being that you need multiple family lines to work together, which is pretty rare in this game. However, after just playing in village that had about four different lines of family working together I think it is possible.

Another cool thing is people can start making houses! I'm a BIG game of thrones nerd and I will love for houses to be instated with last names! Maybe being born in house Dickbutt equates you to being royalty! Just a fun little thought that comes with last names. Forgot mention that crowns and family last name work way better than just a crown being passed down from daughter to daughter. Now you know if your daughter dies you have a niece with the same royal last name. I can not WAIT for which last names will raise to royalty and such! Man this game is making me so excitied!

Griefers also get another debuff! Now with names, griefers can't suddenly just *blend* into the crowd anymore. Soon as they kill, you can start shouting their name, so their screwed the next time they try to run into the village.
