First few days after the initial release were similar. There is a meta level of advancement as the player base learns the game. Step by step, life by life, the medium player learns to fend for themself and contribuit to the village.

Teach the noobs to forage, and you'll go easier on the camp food reserves.

I really did. Its like a famine event suddenly hits the settlement.

Today i helped my noob mom survive, we had to migrate since there was little food around. It took a while to find a green biome, but i had my sharp stone so we feed on wild carrots. All along, mom would try to raise many kids, until i coldly told her to pick one.
We eventually settled in an area with easily 20 bushes in the close radio. Seeing that my surviving sister actually knew her way around, i left them to forage some basic tools. We had it good for a while, but beeing a dedicated forager i rarely visited the village.
Twenty years later, while returning i take a detour to feed on some faraway berries (leave the close one for the noobs). To my surprice, i come across three sisters beeing followed by many kids of diferent ages, who jumped from bush to bush, fighting for the last berry.

I laughed at my sillyness, expecting to find food back home and delivered the tools before i died.

The story has a good ending though, since later i reincarnated as a baby boy in that family, and a few survivors seemed to idolatrize the matriarch who had gotten them through the famine years.  You can't really blame her if her offspring died without leaving a fertile female behind.

EDIT: Damn, i just checked and i had 12 brothers and sisters.

Sadly the game has become a power trip for sociopaths.

#5 Re: Main Forum » Where did the coordinates go? » 2018-05-09 13:13:21

I like what someone said about abandonment not counting towards the lineage ban. It would be a shame to  be reborn eventually and lose the opportunity to check out the developed village (especially after the timer goes up to 24 hours).
Someone (for another reason) say we could consider babies that died unfeed, could coun't as abandoment. In that case it doesn't ban the lineage. Dont know if it's possible, but something along those lines would be nice. I enjoy the direction the game is going, but beeing reborn into your own village shouldn't be almost impossible.

#6 Re: Main Forum » What gets you banned in discord? Is "Telling to kill yourself" enough? » 2018-04-30 19:43:05

What is it about this game that attracts so many facists lol. They are nothing more than manchilds and i agree that lax moderation  is the way to go since they arent organizing death squads or anything close to that, but lets all agree his apology is meaningless since advocating genocide was a sincere act from his part.

Skyroketting the dificulty by forcing repetitive tasks is a bad direction in my opinion. The amount of grinding required for baskets is awfull and impossible to sustain with random and new players. If the intention is pushing pies as a better (or only) storeable food, i would rather make carrots despawn faster.

I agree with Fibre that a few bad updates are inevitable, but this decay needs some serious rework.  Skyroketting the dificulty by forcing repetitive tasks is a bad direction in my opinion. The amount of grinding required for baskets is awfull and impossible to sustain. If the intention is pushing pies as a better (or only) storeable food, i would rather make carrots despawn faster.

Don't be a crybaby about it teanah. Alienated fascist basement-dwellers exists too, and for now they are limited to internet trolling. Dont go on a moral crusade on an internet forum if you don't actually do anything to change the world. You wont fight fascism that way. That accomplishment you feel will never pull you into to action in real life.

Shhhh, keep it on the low. Maybe Jason wont prioritize it.

@Thexus: Yeah, he just had to sieze power, annihilate working class resistance, and engage in imperialistic war. The "hittler" argument is overused in the internet, but you really are a disgusting fascist.

Changed to Q since it appears some of u already used that. Changed the thread tittle to be more explicit since many of us didnt know this code beforehand.

Wilderness survival an issue again, i propose a simple system to easily identify experienced players (or at least forum-users) using unusual characters (until Jason removes em).

Commas and dots are never used. Especially by spelling babies.
Some might argue this will make new players target of child murder, but when you actually have the support of a hardworking daughter you can spend some time teaching the stupid babies. Otherwise all the experience new players will get is being handed down the burden of a failling camp or walking like an idiot into the wild and starve.

List:

Q: i can sustain myself. (Changed due to popular demand since it appears this was proposed already)

Others will be included. Get creative. What info would have you spending time raising a baby when you otherwise wouldnt?

The edgeee, its cutting me across the interwebs.
No matter how practical u think u are, you aren't taking into account that the "weak" are the majority. Your pragmatist lineage will soon die out.

#15 Re: Main Forum » Tribal organization for faster learning and progress - a proposal » 2018-03-18 18:39:13

Been thinking about exactly the same stuff. I dont think we should worry about distinguishing the matriarch, she'll be the one bothering to organize the tribe. Also, age will be a concern when succeeding  since the matriarch work is teaching and you need long sentences to be clear. Full knowlage of the tech-tree shouldn't be needed if she keeps counsel with the more veteran workers. If possible, the princess should follow the matriarch a few years before she retires to learn the ropes. (worry about compost, wheat, clothes, etc).

I think the best way to transmit knowledge deeper than "dont touch the planted carrots" is to use an apprentice/master relationship. The matriarch assigns each child to a job, and someone who has to teach him. That way she doesn't micromanage each child development, the child has a higher chance of survival since an adult is with him, and the adult may eventually start other jobs since they trained their replacement.

I would advice teaching many jobs to new players, like composting and rabbit hunting, not just farming and watercarrying. First of all, child watercarriers mean abandoned waterskins when they die, and i doubt there are many secrets to that craft that can be teached. Community knowdlege wont ever advance if they are stuck with those jobs.
Composting feels like a good job since they learn the importance of full berrybushes (but also when u can eat a berry), helps deal with mistakes with carrot seeding and allows to plant wheat, milkweed and berries. Rabbit hunting is also easy (althought slow when done by newbs), and the new player gets to explore and live of the land, easing the burden on the tribe.

EDIT: I think the tittle of the thread should be clearer. "Cultural Development- Proposal and Discussion"

#16 Re: Main Forum » Man, I'm so sick of building camps just to see them rot » 2018-03-18 18:11:56

I think it will be a gradual thing, as more new players eventually learn the ropes.
The only thing veterans can do is design teaching sistems to accelerate the process of information spreading, and that will have to be done in-game to reach the noobs.

I use atleast two ways to spread information, depending on how much effort i want to put on managing the tribe.

First is beeing a dedicated matriarch. I have tons of fun just raising children, asking if they want to learn X or Y job, and assigning them as apprentices to already existing crafters. That way i delegate the learning, and once the boy is done learning the older  member of the tribe can start a new job. Weapons might be needed to deal with unruly childs. (One never spoke a word in 10 years, even when threatened. He creeped me out so i had to kill him). Make sure to train a successor, our your civ will die shortly after u.

Second, when i dont want to carry the whole tribe on my back,  I just take apprentices. Head to the fire, adopt a child, make sure they dont starve and teach them composting, forging, farming, whatever job you were doing. Sometimes u may have to teach how to use containers.

People can probably think of a few more ways, i say we discuss them for a while and then compile them in a new thread.

PS: teach the babies, they are forced to listen to you. Adults just quickly run by.  And dont just make them all farm.
