Some people don't like it when thei in-game biology doesn't match the traditional gender assignment of their in-game name.

But some people do like it. Neither can choose, but both can try to enforce their choice inside the game if they feel it's important.

Great point!

This feature is unlikely to be removed, but there are many names that are still allowed for use by either gender.

If you run across specific examples that should not be gender-locked, please report them.   The goal was to prevent gender dysphoria caused by accidental or intentional disparity between character gender and tthe gender traditionally associated with certain first names.

Personally, I would prefer if the game selected the nearest gender-neutral name in such cases, instead of getting judgy and forcing a gender-specific name.   But whatever ...

an argument from gender dysphoria doesnt work, people of all genders are born as both male and female, and intersex (which might accommodate for enbies??) doesn't exist

It's a very dumb mechanic, please remove it!

Actually, this idea seems like a pretty good one, but not for swear censorship purposes . This would help with different languages, and may allow dialects to form . Btw, suggestions will only be read if they're on r/OneLifeSuggestions .

What's with all the small updates?

When my computer was installing the latest OHOL update, it was unable to fully download the update and stopped when the progress bar was about 1/3 full.

I'm not sure if this will help solve the issue, but vertical tearing was disabled on my graphics card.

If you look at the trailer of this game, you will see all sorts of advanced stuff:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mT4JktcVQuE
But at this point in time, the technology of the future seems unreachable.
How could you get a car, for instance?
Tons of metal would be necessary, and well as a factory and an oil pump and refinery for its fuel.
And how would tall buildings be made?
So far, the game is pretty much 2-dimensional.
And what will happen when or if the technology in the game surpasses that of the modern age?
What ideas will you draw from to advance civilization, Jason?
I think we can all agree that it's time to focus on technology and make a plan for how the game will approach the future.

#11 Re: Main Forum » To our dear hardworking worms » 2018-06-04 23:42:51

Idea:
Worms make 2 new worms when they are finished tilling the row. However, one is slightly darker. This slightly darker worm will till slightly faster. Over time, the worms will become faster and better at their job. They may also create other mutations, like producing 3 worms instead of 2 or making the soil resistant to hardening.

Add hopniss. It would need a lot of water and soil to plant, but after a bit, it would just grow quickly. There would be one hopniss plant in a tilled row, and then a bunch of smaller hopniss plants randomly growing around it. To dig up the hopniss (and eat it), you would need a shovel. You would have to cook the tubers, too, probably in an oven. Hopniss would provide a good food source for more advanced villages. And maybe sometimes, it would just die suddenly, balancing it more and meaning that villages would have to secure secondary food sources if they didn't want to starve suddenly.

In conclusion, hopniss would require a lot of balancing, but its growing system would be entirely different than any other crop currently.

Recently, I haven't seen any onions, burdocks, or mushrooms. Are they still in the game?

I think that books should be added to OHOL. Books would be so useful: people could use them as guides for new players, or, if their village was dying out, they could write something about it for travelers that came across their village in the future. It would be so cool to come across a dead village and see a book lying around, and then reading it and learning about the village's history. It would also be great writing these books and thinking about travelers of the future that would read the books.

I have developed a very small code for babies to use. Here is the code:
F - I need food!
! - I am starving! Feed me now!!
W - I need warmth. Put me near a fire!
H - Help!

If you have any questions or suggestions, let me know!
