Either we're both brilliant or you still this idea from me.

A form of identification between players would be really nice seeing as how I, and I am sure many other mothers, lose track of who my children are within the first few years of their lives. The way we do this in the real world is through naming, so I am in full support.

(someone should move this to the suggestions reddit)

#2 Re: Main Forum » THE **NEW** OPTIMAL CARROT PLANTING (spoilers: it's 4 to 1) » 2018-03-11 15:34:35

Wait...hang on. I really enjoyed your post until I realized that it is kind of useless (I think, correct me if I'm wrong).

Your "efficiency" of seeding carrot plots is based on time when it should be based purely on numerical output. This is because if we follow your five plot long rule then we will end up with four harvested carrot plots and one seeding plot that is still in the seeding process.

Now, if your rule were to work we would need to already have one seeding carrot plot harvested in advance. Then you could plant all 5 plots and continue replanting the carrot plots while the seeding plot grows. That's the only way this would be beneficial. But you would need a full set of 10 (or however many) seeds to start with.

Ok...v60 was working just fine for me on my Mac yesterday. Went to open it today, it updated. I tried opening the new v64 application that it plopped into my folder. "OneHourOneLife_v64 cannot be opened." I get the same message for all the versions I now possess...v58, v60, and v64. Any help here? I'm not sure why this is. I was not having any issues before today's update.

I also thought I could just redownload the package, but I don't see anywhere to do that without purchasing again. Any help in that regards?

Thanks guys!

Thank you!! Seriously, I feel like an idiot.

Jason, if you see this, my apologies for not reading the forum thoroughly. I do hope that you make this an option in the future though. Not a priority.

Unless there are any barriers to this that are unseen by me...can we please have WASD control as an option?

I personally really dislike the mouse control. LOVE the game, HATE the control. Just want to make that clear, lol.

I keep acciently interacting with things as i run around, which in this game can be very punishing.

I'm so glad you understand.

Not to make this too political, but I was thinking along similar lines with regards to biological sex... like, there's a not-insignificant portion of the population that is intersex.  Perpetuating gender binaries is not only politically incorrect, but biologically incorrect.  Maybe a simple game mechanic in which a player's "actual" gender does not match their image?  So they look like a male, but can spawn babies (though maybe not nurse) or they look like a female but are sterile?  Not sure how to make that clear to players what's going on, but it would add an interesting twist to things...

Certainly it would add a twist. A twist that is quite useless and does nothing to further the gameplay of the game. I understand your political view, and I'm not even totally against it, I just don't think a pre-alpha video game is the type of place to campaign for gender understanding.

As far as what Jason could maybe to implement this...here's another idea.

When you tell another user what your name is, then your name hovers above your head, but only for that user. This means you still have to introduce yourself to people. And then maybe an icon could appear next to the name if it's someone you've already met previously. You could also implement that after ten years of not seeing this person, you forget them. That way there is a real-life aspect to it as well.

Ok, forgive me if this seems a little bit over-the-top in terms of roleplay, but I do think it has some actual value in the meta of the game as well.

Discord users were talking about how to identify each other in the world (since we're making friends, it would be nice to know if we run into each other). This is tricky seeing as how there are no user names in the game, simply anonymous, randomly-generated character models. So I mentioned something that I do which is, as soon as I can, telling my mother what my name is. And really anyone around who will listen. That way, if I am a notable contributor to the village, they will maybe remember me and possibly remember me in future lifetimes as well.

I think this way of identifying one another can prove fairly useful.

I like the idea. Let's implement OFU. I'll start using it!
