#1 Re: Main Forum » [DISCUSS] Zoomed Out FOV mod - discontinuation? » 2018-10-09 18:56:24

I don't get it. (Controversial statement coming up, you've been warned.) Why make the game open source--to, in Jason's own words, "Do whatever [we] want with it, absolutely no restrictions, and no permission"--and then say he wishes people wouldn't use something that a good portion of the community has decided they enjoy and was needed? If he didn't want people messing with his vision, he either shouldn't have made the game open source, or he should have laid out a list of Do-s and Don't-s beforehand. No hate to Jason or anything, just sayin'.

Personally, I love the zoom out mod, as well as OneLife+ (which I've been using exclusively over the vanilla game, and is something I didn't realize I wanted until I installed it). I'd say definitely keep going with the mod, Joriom, if it's something you're still interested in. smile

You were tiny and helpless. Just seconds old. And mommy shot an arrow through your chest. This is your mother Qi, from Goosetown, and I just wanna say, that was my bad. I was out hunting for a wolf, and I turned to go to you and...accidents happened. Sorry, baby. Got a good laugh out of it though. big_smile

Hey, that was me who shanked you. I regretted it after, felt like I acted too fast. But, I've been in more than one town this week with grief killers (one who terrorized the whole town, killing not just people but all of our livestock), and I didn't want to take a chance. Just wanna say I'm sorry, man.

Wait, is that all they did? That seems like a bit of an overreaction. I swap clothes with babies all the time. Backpacks, too, if I see them carrying a knife around.

I don't like having too many girls when I'm starting out because they're going to grow up and have babies, too. So, if I have five daughters and one son, for example, I might have a population explosion twenty or twenty-five minutes in and go into a famine. It's better to keep a balanced number of male and female kids, I think, so the men can do the work that requires a lot of time or long distance traveling, and the women can keep the camp going and care for babies.

But, that's just in my own little perfect world. big_smile Your results may vary.

Yeah, I think the letter cap is the main culprit. It's hard to try and explain things when you can barely type a sentence. I really wish that would be changed.

Other things, like crafting, have a big learning curve. I spent a long, long, LONG time in the tutorial trying to get smithing down, but it finally clicked and I was able to do it from then on. Two days of playing, in my opinion, isn't nearly long enough to learn everything. You're expecting big results too quickly. Just keep at it and things will get easier as you go.

Oh, and it doesn't hurt to use the TechTree (on the actual game website, not the terrible Wiki one). I've been playing for almost a year, and I still use it every now and again. It's a lifesaver when you can't figure something out or something slips your mind. smile

I just chalk it up to rude kids and laugh it off when it happens to me, but I can see how being treated like you described can be frustrating and demoralizing. But, yeah, in like 8/10 games I play I see this kind of stuff happening, and it's either just going to make people turn away from the game or, like you said VioletLily, become griefers.

Personally, I try to be respectful of other people even when I throw in some sass or goof off a little (like when I changed the lyrics to the SpongeBob "Striped Sweater" song and sang it as "red sweater" to this one girl). I also try to help when someone asks, but I don't know everything myself so sometimes I just can't. It's hard to shake the feeling of being judged when I try something new, though, so I definitely see where you're coming from.

Eh, when I get old I just kinda strip down, run around, and throw clothes to anyone I see needs them. Never knives though. That's a bad idea.

Kinrany, yes, it should totally be a feature.

Ah, man, thank you so much! This is so helpful for keeping things better organized and less cluttered. Keep up the good work and have a great vacation. ^_^

#13 Re: Main Forum » [Disc] things you don't like about gameplay » 2018-07-29 22:52:39

-When you're playing as an Eve and your babies just run off and suicide the second they're born.

-When there's a home marker at your village, but it doesn't work for you.

And I second the annoyance with the clutter. I've had babies starve to death because I couldn't find a place to drop something and pick them up. Really frustrating. I would also greatly appreciate it if more items were made stackable.
