I think that Jason originally planned to do all the things we asked of him. But we have a habit of advancing too fast. He is trying to slow us down so that he can catch up and create new content. The problem is that he keeps having to deal with setbacks that the previous update produced. The updates over the past couple weeks show this to be the case.

i'd daresay you're right on the mark there, but i don't think it's a good way of dealing with the problem. it's absolutely frustrating to see the game stagnate instead of advance - feels like one step forward and three steps back lately. i'm sure it's not going to last forever, but neither is my interest in the game.

plus i know for me personally, the game trailer gave me the impression that there was quite a backlog of big tech updates already waiting for us that he would implement in chunks every week. it was a bit of a disappointment to realise that this wasn't the case at all.

working hard and keeping my kids alive and them genuinely appreciating it always blew me away.
i busted my ass multiple times keeping my children alive, clothed and fed, and it was always worth it.

i like being able to give them a strong start, and letting them find their own way in the world. they usually stayed close, even when they didn't have to.

i remember teaching a new player, my child, something so simple as making pies, and them being so proud of their work that they run across the entire village to show me all the pies they'd made. i was proud of them too!

i also loved spending my older years knitting enough clothes for my whole clan, dying them in mass and being able to pass them all down, leaving a mark and a history in the game. seeing people so grateful and excited because they'd never had their own dyed clothes before. theres a sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with it that really drew me in.

i dont know why jason keeps taking "can we have progression in the form of new, more complex tech" as "can you just make this same old stuff more boring, difficult, and any progress easily ruined".

IMO there should maybe be an option, if you're murdered, to report someone for griefing.

one report alone because you accidentally stabbed your kid trying to give them a knife won't mean much on someones backlog, but if you rack up constant reports for killing in a small amount of time, you can potentially be banned, penalized, permanantly be named "LITERALLY SATAN" whenever you're born, WHATEVER as punishment for griefing. maybe only over toddler age can report their murders so people can still cull children if needed. murder is still there, a usable mechanic - it's just up to the individual to decide how salty they are about it.

it's not MURDER that needs to be penalized - it's the abuse of it as a tool just to fuck with people day after day that gets tiring for players.

depends what time-zones you play in a lot as well. the time i have to play when i get home from work (my only time, most days) is quiet server wise, so if anyone is griefing i seem to have a high chance of encountering them. i'm positive i've run into the same griefer nearly 4 evenings in a row now.

don't starve has flower crowns but i've never seen them in this game. there's not even really flowers to pick, so i'm not sure how they're made at all!

i don't think it's over, but i do find myself enjoying the game less and less every time i log in. the honeymoon period of discovering new stuff and learning is wearing off and being replaced with "oh, another griefer? and no one is listening to me warning them about the person shooting everyone above us? sure ok."

i feel like we need an official PVP server and a Zen server or something. if someone gets enough reports from harassing people in a Zen server they can be banned from it, only allowed on PVP where anything goes. i know theres unofficial servers much like this right now, but it would be good for new / casual players, in my opinion.

christ, you became a god. lived a millennia and only died because you couldn't stay tethered to the mortal realm any longer.

nice.
