Interesting experience tried to get rid of an evil leader

Just had an interesting experience, first time i was witness directly to an killer leader. Started the rebellion as soon as he killed the first, but he targetet me next since i questioned him, so i got only 3 followers before i need to run away. Kids where to young to follow me. Hard to bring others to follow you while under attack, the leader did not manage to kill me, but killed others, who did not run away. had too less followers to kill him before i got too old and died.

I think the expectation that we can simply all unfollow the killer leader once the killing startet even if started at once, is very unlikely, since majority simply does not know how. And even worse you dont have much time to teach, since you need to stay save yourself.

I think a simple change that would allow a killer to be killed by everybody for the next 10 minutes would be enough. Maybe also allow the leader to be killed if the exiled got killed.

i think this killer leader was not very efficient in what he did, he could used a bow to kill me or a posse, but he did not use so i survived.

I could have been more efficient to just tell others to run away first and then to teach them more how to un follow, but since i questioned the leader at once, i was his second target, so i needed to keep some distance...

Could have also tried to use posse, dont know if we would have then enough people.

All in all interesting experience. Our rebellion had tons of food, some weapons, but only 3 allies and a child smile

Ah yea and the killer leader did had a helper too, my daughter of course, actually she was more the killer smile

Much thx @all who joined the rebellion!

@ my daughter Sunny Drinkwater: I forgive you! LOL But since i messed up the curse no need actually to forgive...

Re: Interesting experience tried to get rid of an evil leader

I'm curious if anyone has successfully overthrown an mass-murdering leader and if so how did they do it?

I've seen another family that was murdered by an evil leader but I was too young to take her and her helper down.  Yours sounds like a very similar situation and I wonder what is the best method for removing them. Based on our experience, you can't go after them directly, you can't be on their hit list. Here is what I'd guess might work:

1. If you're a child, avoid them and just spend your time building your yum and collecting knives and arrows, take a bow and break down any others. If you have zoom then you might be able to warn some others off screen, if not do not warn others. They likely do have zoom and will see you warning others.
2. As soon as you can ride, leave town and go in search of a nearby town that you can use as a refugee camp.
3. Go back home and convince fertile women and girls to go to your new town and escort them there.
4. Start new leadership tree, allow any other expert player to be leader. People are more likely to join if it's not you. Ensure that person exiles the killers.
5. Hand out weapons.
6. Rinse and repeat. Hopefully by the time the killers discover what is happening, your group will be larger than theirs since your group will be growing while they are killing off their followers.

Getting the evil leader killed is a harder goal to accomplish than just rescuing some girls so that the family survives.

if they know what they do, they have zoom, a posse and a bow, hard to escape them. if they dont know what they do, then best maybe take the girls and run....

As child with the new command at least you can un follow. Searching for a new village to stay there takes too much time, maybe just take all the food you can get and escape in the wilderness but stay in home range and hope that they wont come for you....

But personally i like more to try to fight back, even if chances ar low to succeed. If it is a single evil leader, at least there is a chance he wont get a posse, but i guess the bow with zoom can get you nearly everywhere or?

If you manage to bring as much people far enough (so far that his allies wont count) away to your camp then he has, then you can kill him.  I guess thats the best way if he has no posse and no bow... if he has good luck....

Re: Interesting experience tried to get rid of an evil leader

there was a time the leader was killing people and I though He was evil.

Without even checking or giving a second thought to investigate further what happened I run to two people.
I said "I follow myself" , then "Follow me if you want live" , "Say I follow you"

both followed me immediately.  the leader didn't proceed killing more people but yeah if he did we had a nice start.
I would do that any time, better safe than sorry.
Arcurus just form a second hierarchy first before you understand whats is happening.
Running to a murderer unarmed and say to his face hey I saw you what you did, is not a good survival strategy, better call the police while hiding.

yea i guess i better do that next time.

By the way, do you know how far a bow can currently kill? Is it the hole view range with zoom? Or is there a limit?

Sunny was Bobo

What was the killer's in-game name?

Did you check if it was Bobo?

Sunny Drinkwater killed two at least, but i think the leader was: Sweet Drinkwater who killed one at least.

Not sure but I think it has 7 tiles Kill range and 12 tiles pose initiation.

The thing I know for sure is that when I run diagonally 1 person cant kill me with a bow. (I use WASD movement and I run immediately when posse starts)

Re: Interesting experience tried to get rid of an evil leader

I had a runin with bobo Saturday. They got leadership, though only killed a few people, but I need more practice figuring out heirarchy and forming new groups, so didn't really do much about it.

if they wanted the engine would be gone instantly with the horse....

Quite hard to start a rebellion if you get children all the time smile

I wish this was changed so it works with anything you are holding including a child. This would make it easier to understand for new players and it's a better experience for the child, who also has a high likelyhood to be a new player.

You shouldn't try to recruit random villagers. You should recruit those who follow the dictator directly and have many followers of their own.

I think that's usually old women and people with titles, but I haven't played since January and might have missed something important :0

now by default all follow the one with the highest score not the mother anymore. So there is usually only the leader with lot of followers.

For posse in away there is not much need, since exile from the leader makes one already attack able.  Posse is mainly good for speed up the attackers.

Re: Interesting experience tried to get rid of an evil leader

Question regarding hierarchy

How do you know if you are someone's leader?

I had someone tell me I was their leader the other day, but I had no idea that I had gained leadership.   I was only five years old at the time, so the change over might have happened while I was a zoning out by the fire.   Is there a command or something to identify your leader(s) or follower(s)?

/leader
/follower

Commands are now listed on the ESC screen.

It's not great information, but perhaps enough to figure out what is going on. The system does currently expect you to notice the ding message that you got leadership, and with so many ding-a-lings it's easy to ignore them.

Hover cursor over your character, you will see lady, lord or whatever if your are one.
/Follower is also helpful if there are more than one hierarchies in your fam, you can be lady/lord even if only one person follows you.

Yeah, it is partially my fault I think.   I tend to mentally check out as a baby, once I have confirmed that I have a mother and I am not about to get eaten by a bear.

So I might have gotten a pop-up notification during that time and completely missed it.

Do /leader, if it says "No Leader" that means you are the leader. it's not intuitive.

Re: Interesting experience tried to get rid of an evil leader

I out maneuvered my Bobo killers today heehee. I was Boots Tracheithasejsjifjisdfis what ever the hell that long ass last name is. I was born to my mom goddess who named me an left me in the care of my cousin Max. As he fed me by the fire he was brutally attacked an cursed by the griefer pair, Autmn an eleventh cousin an Raidiance his own lil sis! They began killing us all as Autumn was our leader.
I was to lil to tell others to unfollow her. she killed everyone but me a lil toddler runnig around hiding in the sheep pen. ducking an dodging them. I had two uncles who begged me to follow them as they ran, Irving an irwin.
I stayed knowing I would be this families only hope. I stayed on the outskirts till I was fourteen. Then I came into town to birth a baby girl. Now that I had my Miracle I knew what I had to do. I ran her north to our red headed neighbors.
I wrote them a note asking for sanctuary for my baby. Willow an her mother we kind and cared for her. I went back home to keep an eye on the griefers. Sneaking in every few minutes to water the berry bushes they were trying to let die lol.

Once Autumn died I became the new leader an inherited her property that she had locked all the horses an food in. Radiance ran from town an died in the wild. I went north to get my bb girl an bring her home. We began rebuilding and she gave birth to her own little girl. We survived Bobo. Suck it! UUUUUUNFORTUNATLY we had a new griefer born as my granbb an she fed her kid who she named bobo to a wild boar before she starved herself... lol

Hey, I was in that family a few generations back! My name was Ursula and I brought up 4 girls. I'm looking at the family tree right now and can see the whole story right there. Your girl Miracle lived to a ripe old age, that's nice. It's a pity that the promising town was basically ended by griefers. It seems to be the case so often.
