Problem: The Temperature System
The temperature in OHOL is cold in almost all places where players live. Once, the game had mid-range naturally occurring spots. The month after those got eliminated, the number of players playing on Steam dropped by over 24%: https://steamcharts.com/app/595690#All This made for a *greater decrease* in percentage drop in the number of player any other time than the first month after it got released on Steam.
In comparison, there's a massively popular game called Animal Crossing. Interestingly enough, it takes place in a tropical climate, not in some cold, barren wasteland with fatherless children.

If it wasn't cold, we wouldn't need clothes, which would be boring I guess.

I wasn't arguing against cold spots. The problem is the lack of mid-temperature naturally occurring spots on the map.
The temperature system that existed between the Steam release and the temperature overhaul was dynamic and more complex than the current system.

I remember the time when as a mom you had to find the perfect temperature spot to raise your children. I was usually the exact same one your mom had raised you. It was also a swamp tile most of the time. Those where weird times.
